Went through a liver transplant. Spent 29 days at the hospital, 23 of them in my own room. My morning routine once I got that private space would be to struggle to get up, shower and shave and brush my teeth - learning to be human again. And I would blast this version of "Dreams" every morning. Sometimes watching the clip, sometimes just bringing my laptop into the bathroom, putting it on a sideboard with the volume all the way up. Having survived, getting back up, feeling the faith and confidence in both myself and the future, because THAT'S what dreams are made of... It's been five months. I am as good as new.
That's awesome and congrats on your recovery! Music can work wonders.
Dream big bro
Dreams meant that to me. Was glad hearing your story.
Same story here brother! I spent two weeks having a tumor removed from my colon. Van Halen helped get through it!
Best wishes to you Andrea's, I can understand the sheer power of 'Dreams.'
Michael Antony is the vocal touch behind every song
He was Van Halens secret weapon. :-)
Acapella
Always, learned how to sing like Dave and Sammy, total talent.
Yep ! And he's underated !
He truly is. But I like samme and his new fire too. Dont think anyone else could have done more for the band after Dave. Som.. but Mike IS the drive. Just like a bassist should
*We were alive during the time of Eddie Van Halen*
I talked to some 20 somethings recently and they couldn’t believe I saw him play live.
An absolute legend.
Yeah... He was one of the greatest ever...!!
1992 Charlotte, will cherish it!
Monsters of rock!!! A concert ill never forget. In philly, legendary night with a legend....we'll always miss you and dime. Drink up boys.....
Where did this kind of music go? It's the best that ever happened in music history.
I was thinking the same thing. It’s like it all vanished. All we have is RUclips
Definitely a lost art. This is just feel-good how-it-is-supposed-to-be-done music. Miss these days and Edward.
Michael Anthony is one if not the best backup vocalist in history
Jonah Nowak The Best of all Time
Oleta Adams is great as well.
Oh yeah. Richie Sambora was great too!
Absolutely true.
He really is isn't he? Not only is he in the top five bassist in the world but he also has an amazing voice and to top it all off the guy is an absolute saint. During all the bullshit during both breakups of the band, Roth and Hagar. Michael Anthony chose to take the high road and not once said a negative thing about the Van Halen brothers. Not a negative thing about Roth either. He is a class act and an absolute wonderful soul. With all that being said. RIP Eddie. A musical genius. It was nice to read that him and Hagar were able to patch things up before he passed.
RIP Eddie Van Halen, 😭😭 you will always be a rock legend🤟
😭😭😭😭😭
Rip Eddie Van Halen.🤘
Yuuup... Straight up Legend....🙌...
@@insanewayneride p
I still can't believe it.. Ed You're the best. You talk about the American dream! ...
One of the greatest guitarists of all time Eddie Van Halen will never be forgotten and there will never be another Eddie Van Halen
The modern bands are not even 100 years close to Van Halen....The Giants of rock...Simple perfection...
False......1000 years light Bro 😂
FACT - VH and Def Leppard are the only two rock bands to have 2 different records certified 'RIAC Diamond' in the US. Leppard, thanks to the lyrical and musical genius of Steve 'The Riffmaster' Clark were massive in the US. Check out their Denver Colorado gig and watch in awe - Steve oozes 'real not manufactured' rock star cool.
Michael Anthony backup vocals on “And HiiiIIIGHER!” are absolutely majestic! He had the biggest range out of either Van Halen frontman. Great talent
Jip. So few notice that.
Highest range. DLR and maybe Sammy too could go lower.
@@wob6776think sammy could go higher, in studio at least! He reaches some damn high notes on Balance
@@oyvi00i Maybe, Balance has some killer vocals! But Michael Anthony just has such a high voice all the time -- listen to the end of Judgement Day. Like I said in the previous comment I don't think MA had the widest range, it was just all up high.
Mike sounds like a girl.
Sammy is a monster. Singing this at 48 years old is surreal.
Don't Say anything about Sammie I love him so much ❤️💖💞❤️💕❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💙
@@vincevegas8529 yeah that Eddie guy was pretty good I’d say.
@@tashadorsey4406 it was a compliment lady 🙂
@@vincevegas8529 yeah, Michael Anthony hitting those sick high notes is amazing. What a great musician.
@@vincevegas8529 absolutely mate. VH was overloaded with talent. Very sad about Eddie's passing. He was one of a kind.
Sammy just turned 73 a couple days ago.. At 73, he looks like he’s in his 40’s and he’s actually in his 40’s in this video and an ABSOLUTE powerhouse!!! WOW!!!!!!
He's 47 here in 1995. In a few more months he was 48. For all of his "good times" he and his voice have definitely aged very well!
Although I'm sure good genes play a part it's his passion for his work that is most responsible for his longevity I believe. Not everyone can do what they love for a living but wise is the person that can learn to love what they do for a living.
The joy on Eddie's face and watching him jump around is just amazing. Thats what I'm going to miss the most.RIP Eddie! Thank you!!
He is a fantastic singer and should never be put down in relation to diamond David because even the latter had tons of charisma the former was by far more technically talented a vocalist...as you say a power house and on top of it a nice guy as opposed to an egomaniac.
He draws energy from this music.
Back in the days, there used to be musicians like these
And higher!....absolutely love Michael Anthony's backing vocals
on point as always!
I swear I watch this version specifically to hear his 'And higher!'
RIP master of guitar

@Guy Pobre stfu
annnnnnnnnnnnnnd keyboards... This is all Eddie also.. His dad was amazing KB player.
When stars aligned and the best rock singer, guitarrist, bassist/background vocals and drummer were together, magic happened
After I heard Eddie died, I went to visit the "Budweiser Stage" where this concert was filmed. (originally called Molson Amphitheater) I just stood and just thought about how awesome that concert must have been.......... damn....... rest in power Eddie
>rest in power
lmao
I often run by Budweiser stage and each time I do, I always think about how amazing it must have been.
saw VH there in 2015 .. took my kid (who was just getting into them then) .. that was also the year we saw RUSH together .. didnt have a clue that we’d never get to see either band again 😞 ..
RIP eddie van halen 🎸
RIP neil peart 🥁
@@superfast30 I see what you did there. Funny stuff. I was at this show. VH was always great live with Sammy
@@reillyoterry9461 Yes, IMO the best music was w Sammy! Saw them n OKC- Eddie fell landing flat on his back coming on stage & did not miss 1 note, even while getting up! VH w Sammy's vocals defined raw talent! Best era of music there'll ever b! No autotune or computerized fakery!
I wish I could go back and relive the 90s. I miss my childhood, I miss the music, the shows and movies, I miss how much more innocent and safe the world felt back then; it was just a better place to live, it seems. And of course, I miss Eddie. 💔
Sammys era is just different and it is a different band altogether.. brilliant song and performance
Bruno Tolosa I couldn't agree more! While I love the David lee Roth era( my dad was a huge fan of that era) Sammy brought some else to this band. They went from being a hard rock almost glam(David lee Roth) to an almost alternative arena rock band.
Bruno Tolosa Agreed!!
Van Halen, at least the Van Halen that *really* mattered, ended when Roth departed in '85.
The Hagar era, and the post-Hagar era with that other guy from that other band, were an almost constant nightmare of lite-metal bushwa. I say "almost" because, even in their worst synthesizer-driven power ballads, even in their most tragic ersatz-U2 "saying something important" mode, you knew a guitar solo was eventually coming. And to be perfectly honest, I have yet to hear an EVH guitar solo that wasn't one of the coolest things i've ever heard.
I have to say I loved David as well as Sammy. Excellent singers.
It's different cause Sammy can sing live not like that other clown roth.
Mikey's backing, Alex's drum fill, Sammy's power voice and Eddie's power chords. Thank you VH for my youth and Rest in Peace Eddie. You will always be loved!
Michael Anthony's background vokes were the bomb, and the group was never quite the same without them.
Michael Anthony's vocals in the chorus are amazing too
Holy shit, this is an amazing version of Dreams... Alex possessed on drums, Michael Anthony's BLISTERING backup vocals, Eddie's guitar playing gets better with age like a fine wine, what can I say? Sammy is half human, half god... The Demigod Red Rocker! I'd pay so much money to see them reunite and tour one more time with this lineup but sadly that ship has sailed. 1986-1996 VH will forever be my favorite era!
100 % agree with every word you said.
Fuck yessss.
As drummer fuck playing in a neck brace, props!
I couldnt agree more!!! Fucking legends right here
But where/who is the piano player?
First time I heard this track, I was 5yrs old, and it came on at the end of the power rangers movie credits
YES!!!!!!! :D I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS SONG FOR YEARS!!!! :D
+Tim Her That is the exact reason I'm a huge hagar fan as an adult . cause of that friggen movie hahaha
+Tim Her Same here man! but 7 years old xD
+Tim Her thats were i heard it before as a kid!, i was always wondering what from lol
Same here I didn't even know it was van halen, when I got into rock as a teenager I bought a best of VH album and this comes rocking on, I nearly cried from nostalgia hahaa :)
Van Hagar #1, PERIOD!!!!
I remember the first time I heard VH. Back in 1992. I was 8. I was sitting there, waiting for my English Class, then this older guy named Vincent sat beside me, listening "Dreams" on his Walkman. The volume was so loud I could hear Sammy singing and Eddie's killer riffs. I asked Vincent the name of the band. I've been a Van Halen fan ever since. Thanks a lot Eddie, your unique style and legacy shall never be forgotten!
Vincent was listening to good fucking music!! 🎸👍
Love this
Alex is a true drummer...Playing with a neck brace
Jonathan Sequeda Love the way he drumming with the double bass drum.
Yeah. He he should have been playing with a neck brace all of these years! It seems to have improved his chops!
Straight up badass!
No shit.
I just listening to his hits... he is a monster!
I was a huge VH fan from the start and mourned DLR leaving. But Sammy with his ability to actually remember the words and his octaves of range over DLR really won me over. And these were the days when Eddie on the Music Man guitar cemented the band's musicality. As mentioned, Michael Anthony was the cement that held the band together with his awesome vocals and bass tracks.
Van hagar years were the best! I grew up in the 80s listening to this music, best decade ever.
Michael Anthony "Van Halen's secret weapon". Ive heard this multiple times and it's just SO damn true.
3:55 Eddie Van shredding the guitar solo, Alex on fire on the drums, and Sammy killing the air-speed bag!!
Sammy and Michael’s range are out of this world. Sammy brings the power, but Michael is the glue between the bricks. So much vocal volume in this song.
It doesnt get any better than this.
They absolutely slayed this performance.
R.I.P EVH
The greatest rock and roll guitarist of all time.
Van Hagar. That’s what dreams are made of.
I’m a cross country runner and I always make sure I end my runs on this song. “We’ll get Higher and higher straight up we’ll climb.” On the last hill and that epic guitair solo on the homestretch. Feels like an action movie.
At the top yell, “DRAGO!!!!”
@@user-kp1ry3so2s i like the rocky 4 reference 😎
Sammy sounds as great live as he does in the studio and Michael Anthony is an amazing vocalist in his own right and those two together are wild !
Van Halen is hard rock that is enjoyable and acessible to so many people! Chicks, dudes, etc..
What a sad year 2020. Eddie you was the best guitar player. RIP
I have a feeling 2020 is going to go down in the history books as a very rare breed indeed.
Michael hits the "HIGHER" 2nd part better than Sammy does, amazing talent that Alex & Eddie sadly just discarded. Great bass player & crucial backing vocals skills plus a helluva classy guy too. They don't deserve him.
I actually agree that Roth had better range but back up singers don’t generally sing lower harmonies it’s almost always higher in rock and roll
When they toured without Michael Anthony I wonder if they hired the "offstage" voice to sing his harmony parts. "Bring on the stunt voice!". LOL.
"Michael hits the "HIGHER" 2nd part better than Sammy does". Considering that in a venue Sammy sings 95% against 5% of Michael your statement has no reason to be.
Thanks for writing that.
well sammy said that it was a hard song to do live and it really shows how hard it is here
If I could pick one song to listen to for the rest of my life this would be it.
My Deep Condolences to the Band the families and all the fans who have been blessed to listen to EVH and that guitar forSo many years !! Made many days fun with VH blasting on the cassette player radio cd and vinyl !!
I would never knew. If it werent for you brother.
RIP Eddie.
VH is definitely a part of my home
I can't Believe Eddie has gone! Rest In Piece Legend 🎸
Wow, Alex is on fire here. He's underrated as a drummer me thinks.
Not really. People have known for decades that he's a bad ass speed machine. He has Van Halen in him, after all. Who says he's "underrated"????
rcvideoshooter I know he's known, I just meant that when people cite distinctive drummers you always hear the same list of names and hardly ever hear Alex's name on that list. Not making any allusions here but when your brother is Eddie Van Halen it's kinda difficult to shine through his brilliance.
totally agree! he rocks!
Badass man
Greatest of His Era
Michael Anthony rocking the serious power mullet here! Awesome song.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to this without tearing up now. EVHs presence is missed and we won’t see him perform ever again .
Rest in Peace, Edward Van Halen. You made a big noise that will never be silenced.
I love 5150 time! One of my favorite albums of 80s! Sammy rocks so does Michael Anthony!
Mike Anthony great helped to Sammy with all those "higher and higher...".🤟 Classic!
F'n magic! All members pulled it together. No way to hate this song!!
Sammy is really working that voice hard. The life of a rocker. It takes its toll.
I was at this tour in 95 in Indiana, I was fortunate enough to be in the front row and was able to high five Eddie and Sammy, something I'll never forget, R.I.P Eddie #LEGEND
Wow, what an amazing memory to have...RIP Ed you'll always have a special place in my heart
Great tour yes 👍 this video was in Dallas Texas at the Coca-Cola Star Plex and I,was there, watch again because Sammy says thank you at the end and Alex is playing with a Neck Brace to keep from sweating all down himself which keeps him from sliding on the chair and equipment,at least that's what he said to me!!!***
@@allenorea9591you're absolutely right, that's why I said in Indiana cause that's where I saw them, sorry for the confusion
Don't know what it is, but hearing this song, live or the studio version, never fails to bring a few tears... Damn you Van Halen for being so perfect and hitting my feelings so hard! :')
EVH playing the guitar every day better and better 🙏🏽
now let's stay here dreaming of the great legacy of art that you left!
dreams!
Rip Eddie Van Halen!
Obviously one of the best Van Hagar songs.
Joder con su Van Hagar es Van Halen y punto
Best live performances I ever seen . VH and IRON MAIDEN. R.I.P EVH & Clive Burr
RIP eddie. There will never be another guitarist like you
Legendary.
So true
I can honestly say I am so glad to have seen Van Halen live to witness pure guitar magic. Listening to Van Halen just made my days so much better and still does. 🎤🎸👍😁
Sammy is the best thing ever happened to Van Halen!!!!
Maus,
I'm sorry and I don't want to begin another Dave VERSUS Sammy piece.
Granted Sammy was a way better singer. Sammy was good and Eddie wanted a new sound. Van Ha len genuinely somewhat "conquered " the w o rid.
However, they were a new band.
Frosted Sammy was also a better song writer and a better person
Broc Regner Sammy was not a better song writer then Dave
Mmm both lead singers were great frontmen x
i think dave is the best . he can read mind so well
Mikey is AWESOME on backing vocals!!!
Michael's killing it on the backing vocals.
My Brother and I, were there along with the 98Rocks crew and at the end Sammy says thank you Dallas and you can see The Ball/Reunion Tower. Thanks for the memories forever VanHalen R.I.P.Eddie VanHalen you are dearly missed your music will always LIVE!!!***🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌😇😇😇
So everyone talks about Eddie, well Alex ain't no slouch n Mike's a great bass player n singer.Sammys just a animal.Damn they were good!!
We're till they thought they could make it with out Sammy and Mike
How the hell is this almost 25 years ago. I was 25 got up to take a leak and now I am almost 50.
I understand that
haha time flys unfortunately
Turkee G same... these dudes were about our age here... the music makes me feel young, the realization that this was 25 years ago makes me feel old...
I hear ya😫🥺 Saw them in '86 in toronto , how the hell was that 34 yrs ago 😳😳
Well I just got up, and I'm about to turn 59!
RIP EVH, your legacy will always on all guitarist hearts
I first heard this song at the end of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie, I loved this song and watched the movie from start to finish because of it, I had no clue it was Van Halen, but I'm so glad it was. Incredible and inspiring music. Thank you for making my childhood awesome and Rest in peace, Eddie.
Saw them six times on this tour.... despite the injuries and turmoil, they were fantastic every night.
I wish these musicians never aged and they could be together making new music for us fans. The bands over time slowly disappear but the songs remain with us no matter what happens. The memories of these songs for us fans bring the smiles and happiness in these hard times. When these songs first came out the world was so much easier and not as miserable as it now. There wasn’t any virus that made us hibernate and be scared of. We are so lucky to have this band and many of those that bring the smiles to our faces. I wish VH could get back and these guys can see the smiles they put on our faces.
Great comment!
Sadly, Eddie will never age again. RIP
@@rbworleywrites I hope he hears how loud his music will be played ALL OVER Planet Earth tonight especially!!!! We got you Eddie. Rest easy and to a life well lived.

in my opinion, this is almighty Van Halen at their prime
💯 agree. DLR years was the party band but EVH needed a vocalist to elevate the band to their true musical heights and Sammy did just that.
@@ernestbuckley8671 the Sammy era definitely had its share of "party" songs, but no way in hell would we get a "Dreams" or "Mine All Mine" from Roth. Never.

Van Halen at their best. There's so much energy and happiness! RIP Eddie. League of your own.

I am so glad I was born 1in 65 and to learn about Jimmy Hendrix and the 70's rock music; Rush 2112 and EV"s Eruption. But to experience Rush live and the 5150 tour. I am so happy to have seen Van Halen(Eddie) shred in person!

That mullet fueled those killer backing vocals for Mike! Probably the last time we heard Sammy's voice being this powerful though 😢
I wish i could go back to the 90's, that was a great time 😊

He's the best in the business IMO
I can't stop listening to this version because of the drum transitions. Beast mode!
I would like a version that the camera just stays on Alex as well.
Met them(except eddie, he would not leave his hotel room) all here in puerto rico. All were great and friendly and signed everything. Sammy was top3 signers i’ve met. His playing here is really incredible! Tight, alive, wow!!!
