Bud Shank, Paul Desmond, Art Pepper, Gary Foster, Lee Konitz (smooth jazz standards) Fausto Papetti (Smooth Pop) - similar sound on alto saxophones; on tenor saxophone, Stan Getz has had a similar tonal quality; don't you think?
Don't forget when calling out a "West Coast" jazz roll call to mention The Lighthouse In Hermosa Beach, along with Howard Rumsey & The Lighthouse All-Stars. The late great Jack Sheldon (good friends with my father and uncle) introduced me to my very first shirley temple at an afternoon matinee there when I was 4 years old.
