- 3.10 to Yuma (1957) directed by Delmer Daves is an impressive western featuring strong performances by both Glenn Ford and Van Heflin. The story by Elmore Leonard, sees Heflin's rancher agreeing to take a captured outlaw (Ford) to the marshal in Yuma for a reward, so that he can pay for water supplies for his drought stricken land. The tension mounts, when Ford's gang vow to set him free and it becomes an eventful journey to catch the 3.10 train to Yuma. The terrific music score was penned by George Duning and the vocal by Frankie Laine, who was no stranger to this genre has a beautiful haunting quality.

As a young lad who grew up watching Westerns, the moment you heard Frankie Laine's voice at the introduction you knew that it was something special. I used to try and give myself a sore throat just so I might be able to sing like him one day and sing these classics....not easy when you are only ten years old! What a voice!
One of prominent western movie.George Dunning composed beautiful music as well Frankie Laine rendered this immortal title song.Great movie to watch.

I first saw this film in 1958 in North Berwick, Scotland, while playing in the Scottish Boys' Golf Championship. Terrific film, well acted and that song by Frankie Laine!! Wow!!
AND the beautiful Felicia Farr got a 16 year old boy in a bit of a frenzy!! Pity she was married to Jack Lemmon!!

The best Western
For me and I have no doubts this is the best western ever made, the music the great performance of Frankie Laine and the actors Ford and Van Heflin it's just an uncomparable movie I love to watch it all the time.

This version of 3.10 to Yuma and The Searchers are the two best westerns ever. First saw this in the 50’s and still watching. The compilation was like watching the movie. Wonderful. Only Frankie could make this song so memorable. Thank you.

In the score for this, and "Rio Bravo" and "Gunfight At The OK Corral"...behold the roots of the Spaghetti Western sound. (Just imagine Frankie whistling the theme instead of singing...)

Thank you for uploading this. The new version is pretty good too. However, I am a Glenn Ford fan and prefer this version. Also, I like Richard Jaeckel too. Wonderful pix of him with his horse at 13:00. I saw the This is You Life program with Ford. If I remember right, he was not only very surprised, but more than a little upset being the target of this show. Anybody else remember?
Frankie Lane, the best, sings the Rawhide series theme song too. He had a great voice

the bar scene between Felcia and Ford one of the most erotic in movies. no skin. excellent sound here. bravo George Duning wonderful composure of many movies. another must see. the new one just ok. Crowe in Master and Commander is excellent.
