    Great video! As a former AstroWorld ride op. We had the 3rd Arrow suspended & revamped Togo Ultra Twister (we made it run better) XLR-8 was our Arrow. Marketed as speeds of 50ft. per second (translation 34 mph!) It had to to re welded a lot.Big Bad Wolf ran 48 mph!!! It ran from 1984-2005 when the park was demolished. It was the ONLY Arrow suspended to have some cars face backwards! Twister had main lift modified with a 45 degree and lift + hydraulic oil changed for Houston, TX climate. 3 computers ran it. It was a fan favorite *the most reliably run Togo in a Six Flags park* Yeah!!!! 1990-2005 It took over month to plasma torch cut XLR-8. While the Bat was "under engineered" OMG! AW was different thickness of steel in track + columns.

  • @tsubasa83_ch

    The thing about Twist Coaster Robin being open for one day can probably be traced back to Japan. Japanese culture places a lot more emphasis on responsibility and formal apology. I would automatically distrust a coaster that had a relatively serious incident *on its first day*, and I would bet that, to Yomiuriland, TCR was an absolute embarrassment. It seems that the reason it just never opened again was a way for them to apologize for a coaster that, in the public eye, was "clearly unsafe", and "damaged beyond repair" was an easy way to permanently close it without bringing attention to its new notoriety.

    • @tsubasa83_ch
      @tsubasa83_ch 3 года назад

      I should clarify: I say it was Japan because of the heavy response that Yomiuriland gave to the incident. If a coaster had a first day incident in the US, for example, I would most likely see the parks saying something like "this ride clearly wasn't ready on opening day, we'll take a closer look and try again" rather than permanently closing it

    The Swarm is my favourite coaster at Thorpe Park, but that isn't saying much. The only other wing coaster I've ridden was Gatekeeper and that was obviously better, but moreover was good on both sides, (best in the back car) whereas Swarm was only good on the right side (also best In the back car). ALSO: Thorpe park was my third favourite park after Alton Towers and Blackpool, both of which not only had better coaster lineups in my opinion, but also better top three of my favourite coasters in the U.K. I've ridden (The Smiler and Icon, respectively; I've not yet ridden Megaphobia or The Ultimate).
