What I especially love about this episode, you finally get a glimpse understanding of why the master is who he is, and what made him that way. And in the end, he finally gets a small sliver of retribution for what Rasillon did to him, he finally found the perfect target for all that pain and rage he had amassed all those years. And if you were counting, the count to four he did, it was to the beat of a timelords heart. The endless drums that echoed only in his head since the day they forced him to look into the untempered schism.
The par that gives me goosebumps is the look on Tennant's face as he thinks he lived and didn't die, but then hears the 4 knocks. Holy smokes that acting
@@johannahyde-parker8422 the masters head was full and was hearing drums which is a hart of a time lord and was used as a signal for the time lords to escape the war.
The thing is, 4 knocks is a common thing to do. Wilf probably did it out of instinct. Couple that with quality acting and sudden change from a happy tone to an absence of one, you get a heart wrenching moment that will live on forever. I hear 4 Knox’s every time someone’s at my door and I nearly cry every time. Truly a masterpiece.
Can we all take a moment to realize that when the Master is electrocuting Rassilon, he counts "ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!!!" between part 16 and 17? Nice motif
This was SPECTACULAR acting from all involved. Absolutely marvellous. Unfortunately The End of Time doesn't get enough credit though. I completely disagree, it is MARVELLOUS
Wilf thought the Master would kill the Doctor. He likely thought the prophecy was averted at that point and just knocked four times as people instinctively do.

I wish that david tennant did that 4th season
When everything in the episode is resolved but there's still 10 minutes left.

“He will knock four times.” He will knock four times and the Doctor dies.

You can literally hear the music drop and then fade completely after that first knock.
I honestly never noticed that before.
If only Wilf has shouted for him instead
Then the prophecy would have been, “He will shout at you.” It doesn’t mean he won’t die
@@Christopher-jp5zo it was a joke
nearly started balling when wilfred knocked 4 times :'( :'(
Poor Wilf, that was awful.

oh god. the knocking.
hi there. how are you doing 10 years later?
Re watched this story on new year's Day after spyfall
@@daniellepeterson1666 I think they died.
It was a very sad ending here, having The Master sacrafice himself for the world and then hearing the 3 knocks I was like dammit why..... 😥
4 knocks.
1:25 that music drop was pretty distrubing
You can see his facial expressions change slightly as he hears the knocks happening gradually until all four are heard.
Wait if Wilfred knew the prophecy, why didn't he just knock 3 or 5 times or shout while knowing about the prophecy?
Wilf thought the Master would kill the Doctor. He likely thought the prophecy was averted at that point and just knocked four times as people instinctively do.
UUUUUUUNLIMITEEEED POOOOOWWEEEERRRRRR
But, he knocked 16 times; not just 4.
“He shall knock 4 times”
Wilfred knocked on the glass 4 times, each time tapping it four times... just to drive the point home.
Russell T Davies era is so far ahead of the others i can't believe people prefer the likes of Moffat. They must be under the age of 14.
No, the RTD era is just a cheesy soap opera.
I believe it's called an opinion
You must love the Chinball era. Is so similar.
11th > 10th
@@mayotango1317 Could just as easily call the Moffat era a pretentious, tensionless skit, works both ways
Mah bebi ;-;
still hurts me so much :(
Nothing felt the same after this!!!
Because is the end of a era.
I want to imagine Sonic being David Tennant and Eggman being Wilfred.
Alright then
No. Just no.
Are you sure it would be Eggman?
