Wonderful interview! I laughed, smiled and cried while watching. Brought back fond memories of when I saw the Purple Rain concert in Detroit. That concert was magical. You can see that Apollonia truly loved Prince.
This is by far one of the best interviews I've ever encountered. She is so genuine and real. The loss she encountered with Prince and Vanity just moved me. Many people have judge her through out the years without really knowing her. Prince forever will be a genius in my book and he definitely picked a good one here. SIP Prince/Vanity....Miss you! 😥
I'm really glad I saw this interview. I had zero idea she ...her personality is "incredibly" good spirited and honest. I guess she was like this back then as well. That to me is awesome, because she, like Prince, had to constantly be coming in contact with people who were simply... opportunists. I like this lady. ✌️💜🙏
I was devastated when Denise passed, and it made me tear up to hear Apollonia genuinely mourn her, even when they didn't have much of a friendship. Then just months later Prince passes and a light in this world went out that can never be replaced. Wasn't it beautiful when all the world lit up their buildings in purple to tribute this man? Apollonia, I can't wait for your book, and I'm so glad you're here to tell your stories and set the record straight about many, many things. Love and light to you. Hopefully someday the estate will be able to re-release all the side projects and actually work with the artists to get the royalties and publishing they deserve.
I agree but the Afterlife is in another realm. There's no Heaven or Hell. Nobody walking through pearly gates or burning eternally (how can a spirit burn?) it's a different dimension. I definitely believe in the spirit world due to having supernatural experiences but I reject and renounce all Abrahamic religions (Islam, Christianity and Judaism). Let's seek out spirituality and let go of the low self esteem low vibrational narrow mindedness of religious dogma.
Really appreciate Apollonia's candor and sincerity. This interview made me cry several times. I went to the Duran Duran concert the year Prince died and they lit the stage in purple and dedicated the song Save A Prayer to him. I really admired Apollonia and Vanity for being sexy bombshells, I could never pull that off.
Vlad, I have watched many of your interviews, all of which were extraordinary! But this Apollonia masterpiece was superbly WONDERFUL. I was touched to the very core of my being. I'm 67 years old. This is such an amazing interview. My aunties were obsessed with Prince and they took me to see Purple Rain in the theater. They covered my eyes during the naughty bits. I was enthralled by Apollonia 😍. She is such a stunning human being, inside and out.
This is one interview about Prince that I trust and enjoyed. My absolute favorite of all music is Prince. Listen to the live in LA song, "The Love We Make." I've listen to this song everyday for about 5 months straight. His music is literally its own genre. 💜💟
Inquizative, prince wrote that song for johnathon, who od" in NY. Wendy Melvon's brother who played keyboards for prince on 2 albums. The title throws you, but it's about loving your community, friends and family. Prince liked to throw people off.
Aside from Prince as an artist, what we represented in my life throughout my stages of growth is more impactful than even I realized. I’m glad to have come of age in the 80’s where we heard the best music and had a sense of community before the ravages of society had taken over
I totally understand I was born n 86 but still had the chance to experience the community when I was growing up. I was just having this conversation with my in-laws last night I grew up n New Orleans in the Calliope project when we had the highest murder rate . That’s where master p is from but whenever the new they was gonna do something they would tell us kids y’all get out of the court way go inside and that’s all they had to say we knew what it meant. Now it’s no community I mean if your gonna do something bad at least try to protect the innocent children your watching grow up .
lol what? you think society wasnt continuing its "ravaging" that it started long long ago during the 80s? it started after? jesus just say what you really mesn without dressing it up with BS

This video deserves an award. Just a masterclass of an interview. From the beginning how he never instantly jumps into the Prince stuff. He allows Apollonia to first tell her story and fleshes out her early life. The questions are brilliant, non invasive and he gives Apollonia all the time to tell her story and explain herself. Treats her with the utmost respect and his tone is the perfect blend of friendliness and professionalism. This video is a must see for anyone who lived in the Purple Rain era, all fans of Prince and Apollonia, and all music fans. Wonderful, warm and awesome interview!!
I was on a prison bus getting transferred back to Cali when the guards kept playing Prince on the loud speakers. I thought it was his birthday but it turned out that this was the day he died. His death always reminds me of my homecoming. RIP Prince.
I hate that you don’t really know what’s going on until you get out of jail . I had found out so many people had died while I was in jail and was only there for 1 month lol and they say things hit the jails before it hit the streets. Gtf outta here
Amazing woman! I remember her beauty well! I'm 61 yrs old and Prince was a large part of my life I'll never forget! This wonderful lady opened my eyes to information I never knew about Prince! I'm also impressed that she didn't deny her ethnicity like most Mexican American movie stars, athletes or singers did from that era! She is still remarkably beautiful ❤️
Wow, what can I say about this interview but.....It Was Spot On!!! You see her heartfelt sincerity. Truly she gives him Due Respect!! Her saying nobody tells Prince no..is making me think back 2002 in Chicago the HOB. I went with two co-workers to see him perform. He kept us waiting, didn't take to stage until after midnight( so worth the wait) he played some new music. Then he ramdomly started to call people to come on stage with him while he jammed out Let's Go Crazy. I wore my Prince T-shirt and my Candy Dulfer brim. He pointed to me and I shook my head no, not once but 3 times!!!!! My friends said.."WHO TELLS PRINCE NO" girl you better get up on that stage, the sercurity guards litterally pick me up and threw me onto the stage. It was funny and I did get to dance with Prince right in front of me. I Will Never 4Get That Magical Concert 💜💜💞💞💜💜💜💜 Until We Meet Again

I loved this interview. I never knew much about her and I always favored Vanity (and wanted her to be Purple Rain) but I really like her now! I'm glad Prince had people in his life that really loved him for who he was not what he was!!
Viva la Mexico. I never knew she was Mexican, I was 4 when Purple Rain came out. I remember the soundtrack like yesterday, The Bangles, Sheila E are both DOPE. She is a class act. Mexicans thank you for this fox. Just Beautiful. Inside and out. 😍
Interesting fact! Prince was not Mexican or Biracial but always said he was ! Black people be proud!! That is the only way they will respect us is when we respect ourselves!!
It’s sad that many don’t know that some of the early famous ppl were Latin because they were whitewashed by America. Linda Carter who played Wonder Woman in the 70s is half Spanish. Such a well done interview into Apollonia’s life with Prince. Through the questions, she gave us glances of the controlling Prince yet a protective Prince. We heard her deep love for him and so much respect. Great interview!
This was sooo good! I love how matter of factly she spoke and how endearingly she spoke of Prince! They really were family and shared a special bond! R.I.P. Prince and I pray she gets what she deserves when the estate is settled…maybe she could do or produce some of his music…I think Prince would like that!
What a beautiful woman so sincere, so honest, and humble. Great interview not forced or fake just natural real life conversation...I pray for her the best bless life.
This is such a good interview. I met her back in the day at Knott's Berry Farm. I was in the arcade playing a video game when I realized she was playing the game right next to me! We talked for about 15 minutes and she was so very nice and such as sweetheart. I was surprised at how short she was, but she was FINE AF.
I'm not too surprised she's short. She once said that they made her take off her shoes during the audition to see how tall she really was. Prince wasn't the kind of guy who wanted a tall leading lady 😉
Absolutely excellent - one of the sweetest, most straightforward celebrity interviews I have ever seen. As the previous commenter said, I come away from this interview with a whole new perspective on Apollonia Kotero.
This was a great conversation to watch, there were so many things I'd never heard before. Apollonia, a true testament to the history of the Purple World. Thank you.
What an absolutely-I mean absolutely-amazing interview. It reminds me of what we sometimes take for granted about other people we know very little about. This young woman Apollonia is highly intelligent and refined. My takeaway is that Prince was secretly in love with her and wanted her for himself but recognized she was too intelligent to be confined or controlled. So instead he maintained a warm, cordial relationship with her. The interviewer also asked the right questions and did his research. Thank you. Very enjoyable indeed. May God in His Grace and Mercy bless you each abundantly, and everyone else reading this.
Thanks Apollonia for your openness! i'm glad your healing. I am a prince fan!!! he was a true musician! I think he made and mastered every instrument in this world!!
I can tell you that as a young white kid at the time of this film that I had no issues with colour. I don’t know anyone in my white bread school and neighbourhood that didn’t Love Purple Rain or that had anything to say about colour. It didn’t matter if someone was a total metal head as far as music etc… we all Loved it. And I Loved Apollonia and Prince. They were beautiful and it was also the first time I saw anything as erotic as their intimate scene. I was so young. My heart aches thinking of those days. Just wonderful and the film was a part of those times.
Apollonia, such a class act. I am 54 years old and was introduce to purple rain when I was very young and remember when I saw her in the movie I thought she was so beautiful, I thought of her higher then Prince cause I am a man who knew Prince was a musical genius but me being a young man I looked at her as a beautiful women and I was smitten that's why I found me a beautiful Mexican women. She is still a inspiration to my life. She is so beautiful and humble.
I totally agree with you B. David. This interview, I absolutely loved and her mood, wording, confidence was ALL on point! Infinite respect for you Apollonia!!!!!
What a great inspirational interview! Appollonia is a class act ! I didn’t know she was a talented songwriter, she’s intelligent, professional, a good soul that survived the tough music , movie industry. She is blessed being around with so many gifted musicians. She definitely need to write a memoir about herself n share her testimonies about sorrow, sadness, joy, happiness, n giving hope to others that might be going thru what she endeared in her life.
Blessing their lives converged. This interview is nourishing, didn't know I needed it. She is regal and down home. Apollonia leaving matters about Prince & Mayte's child(ren) alone was so respectful. She knows Mayte should address that, not her; sacred intimacy, she understands. I remember Prince's muted sadness becoming palpable when he told Oprah "our family exists" when asked about the first child. Purple Rain was/is a timeless spiritual intervention!
She’s so down to earth. It’s a testament to how she was raised. It’s hilarious that she won Miss Congeniality for helping the other girls look more competitive, even at her own expense.
Amazing interview. I came of age during the 80"s as well and had a major crush on Apollonia. She was "Dripping" in that movie. She was alluring then and is still alluring. She and Prince on the screen was magical. I played in a band back then and the entire Purple Rain album was our play list. Vlad mentioned that there were no known actors in Purple Rain--not exactly true. Clarence Williams III played The Kid's abusive father in Purple Rain. Clarence William III stared in the original television series Mod Squad and many full featured movies: Hoodlum, Tales From the Hood, I'm Gonna get you Sucka, Sugar Hill, Deep Cover and a plethora of other movies. Apollonia is a Class Act, an Overcomer who is not only beautiful on the outside, she is beautiful inside as well. Apollonia is an inspiration for us all. No cap,

This VLADTV interview with Appolonia was by far..........the most touching. God Bless You, "Apples"
Totally agree. I just saw it and very genuine.
This is one of the best interviews I've seen by Vkad lately----really enjoyed this.
Yeah me too!
I don't comment much on social media, but this interview was phenomenal. Thank you, Appolonia, for walking us through your memory bank of raw life experiences with King Prince 👑.
I truly felt her grief. Prince is the one and only celebrity ever who died and it felt like I'd lost a family member.
I love genuine interviews like this and not the polished talking points of today. I learned a lot, felt a lot and reminisced a lot. Much respect to her and what she has experienced.
Yes Vanity's death was a shock. But on the bright side. She got to know the Lord before she passed. She is in a beautiful place. Bless her soul.
My last Prince concert at the Garden I felt like it was a religious healing experience.....from literal toddlers to old folks......we filed out orderly, silently with those I HAVE A SECRET smiles on our faces. Grateful man.....may the truth be revealed about you and MJ. Amen
I agree 100 percent. I saw him, I believe, in 08 at Los Angeles forum. Words can never explain what that felt like. I have chills just typing this... it was very spiritual and so funky! All races and ages... just being in love w complete strangers beside you because we were all in that moment. I am forever grateful to have expe that!
Amen....miss him! @@taradickey1
@@taradickey1 I believe that is one of the greatest quality of his work. It broke every barrier that unfortunately is present in this world. 50,000 people watching and listening to his music and the audience is just that and only that. Not the white guy next to me or the Asian girl next to him or the black guy next to the Puerto Rican guy. We were a group of people loving this music and show while we also loved each other. We were bound as one. That folks, is a powerful, beautiful thing. RIP Prince. Your bodies of work did amazing, heavenly things when it all came together. You did what you were born to do and we are all lucky to breath this air and drink this water at the same time in history. Perfect timing as far as I'm concerned. PEACE from Philadelphia
Wonderful interview! I laughed, smiled and cried while watching. Brought back fond memories of when I saw the Purple Rain concert in Detroit. That concert was magical. You can see that Apollonia truly loved Prince.
Apollonia is absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful. I've been in love with this woman since 1984.
She's in her 60's and still simply beautiful! Wow!
She's a special woman.
Wow youve been in love with her as long as ive been alive...cool
@@inquizative44 in her youth I would agree. The wall is indiscriminate to all.
Yes and beautiful person.

She's seriously such a beautiful woman inside and out, dope ass interview 🙏🏼💜
Really appreciate Apollonia's candor and sincerity. This interview made me cry several times. I went to the Duran Duran concert the year Prince died and they lit the stage in purple and dedicated the song Save A Prayer to him. I really admired Apollonia and Vanity for being sexy bombshells, I could never pull that off.
She’s been making her interview rounds and I’m here for it!!! 💜
💯
I love it too but why now?
@@shayyourname8304 Right?
Appolonia , you had the same hip surgery as Prince? We’ll how do you cope with the pain?

Vlad, I have watched many of your interviews, all of which were extraordinary! But this Apollonia masterpiece was superbly WONDERFUL. I was touched to the very core of my being. I'm 67 years old. My perception of Apollonia in the past was very different to what I have learned in this interview. Thank you so very much! ❤❤❤
I'm trying to find more of her interviews can you help me
I've never ever witnessed such a I can't even really put it into words she is more than sensational she is more than perfect on this interview I actually think I fell in love with her listening to her interview❤🎉 God bless you 🙏 I watch the movie purple Rain at least 10 times and someone else did say this but I want to say it again you are as beautiful as the inside as you are on the outside 💟
She lying all over the itw, btw. Magic !
This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen on this channel. So insightful, Apollonia spoke with such candor and grace. Beautiful, intelligent and an all around class act ❤️
This is such an amazing interview. My aunties were obsessed with Prince and they took me to see Purple Rain in the theater. They covered my eyes during the naughty bits. I was enthralled by Apollonia 😍. She is such a stunning human being, inside and out.
This woman is incredible. Love her candor.
Apollonia’s interview was amazing. Prince was so talented, we lost a king when he passed. Apollonia was a gracious interview.
WOW...such a great interview...so sad. Her participation in pop-culture history is sooooo underrated! Much love for her!!
She is still gorgeous! Inside & out! I appreciate her interview!
Everyone knows Prince and Vanity was the love of each other’s life!❤️
Your right
I definitely feel shes lying about them not being romantically involved
@@reesepooh00 Right! She knew it! Jealous he never felt for her like he felt Vanity..smh!!
Facts
This is one interview about Prince that I trust and enjoyed. My absolute favorite of all music is Prince. Listen to the live in LA song, "The Love We Make." I've listen to this song everyday for about 5 months straight. His music is literally its own genre. 💜💟
Inquizative, prince wrote that song for johnathon, who od" in NY. Wendy Melvon's brother who played keyboards for prince on 2 albums. The title throws you, but it's about loving your community, friends and family. Prince liked to throw people off.
Amen with his beautifully knitted self 🥰I don’t care what people say he was beautiful inside and out!!!!!
This interview caught my attention. I stumbled upon this by accident. I stayed to the end. She shared the history on Purple Rain
@@I_Shit_on_your_shit_point to your point that is true in a general sense but I was referring to the so called drug wars that took place in the ghettos of America

Growing up during the 80's I wanted to be Apollonia so bad. Love this beautiful soul.
I loved her name Apollonia.
You can tell by her disposition her body language...SHE IS TELLING THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH!!!!
He’s such the opposite of Oprah!!
I was on a prison bus getting transferred back to Cali when the guards kept playing Prince on the loud speakers. I thought it was his birthday but it turned out that this was the day he died. His death always reminds me of my homecoming. RIP Prince.

That is interesting. Good for you tho........
Real shit bro.
I hate that you don’t really know what’s going on until you get out of jail . I had found out so many people had died while I was in jail and was only there for 1 month lol and they say things hit the jails before it hit the streets. Gtf outta here
@@persephoneperry776 How awful for you. 🙄 Stay out of jail and you won't be behind the times. 🙄🙄
What a lovely lady she's so real about her career and everything else. It's very refreshing.
Fascinating back story of Apollina's life experience. Life brings twists and turns and adversity, yet we all find our path in life.
Great interview! She is a poignant, well-spoken and grounded person who had lived quite the life.
Didn't she die of heart failure from doing all the cocaine ?
I can’t get enough of her. Always a beautiful Mexican Queen 👑

I loved this interview. I never knew much about her and I always favored Vanity (and wanted her to be Purple Rain) but I really like her now! I'm glad Prince had people in his life that really loved him for who he was not what he was!!
The right one got the part!
She kinda reminds me of Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles. 2 good looking southern California babes,,still!
Catherine Bach who played daisy duke is Spanish
Cesar Romero who was the original joker in the 1966 Batman tv series was Spanish

Such a well done interview into Apollonia’s life with Prince. Through the questions, she gave us glances of the controlling Prince yet a protective Prince. We heard her deep love for him and so much respect. Great interview!
WOW I wish I had a friend like her. She seems very genuine, sweet and loyal
Wow, that was such a gold interview, she is awesome...Apollonia is amazing,so authentic and compassionate.
Fantastic interview. She's so classy and poised, a real lady ❤️
This was sooo good! I love how matter of factly she spoke and how endearingly she spoke of Prince! They really were family and shared a special bond! R.I.P. Prince and I pray she gets what she deserves when the estate is settled…maybe she could do or produce some of his music…I think Prince would like that!
She is so sweet and sincere ..God bless you Apollonia..Rest in Peace to my favorite Artist ..Rest in heaven Denise .
After 5 years, we finally get the Apollonia interview!
A liar with looks and no talent, manufactured by Prince.
How could she not acknowledge Princes son?
How many times did she adjust her hair and clothes and how she looked?
PRINCE WAS AN ULTIMATE GENIUS ! There will never be another musician like him ----EVER !!!!
This interview is a work of ART without a doubt! I was glued to the screen throughout the 1:14 mins. Just Awesome!
Que Viva Mexico! Her beauty is timeless.. 🇲🇽
This was a great conversation to watch, there were so many things I'd never heard before. Apollonia, a true testament to the history of the Purple World. Thank you.

Agreed 👍
What an absolutely-I mean absolutely-amazing interview. It reminds me of what we sometimes take for granted about other people we know very little about. This young woman Apollonia is highly intelligent and refined. My takeaway is that Prince was secretly in love with her and wanted her for himself but recognized she was too intelligent to be confined or controlled. So instead he maintained a warm, cordial relationship with her. The interviewer also asked the right questions and did his research. Thank you. Very enjoyable indeed. May God in His Grace and Mercy bless you each abundantly, and everyone else reading this.
& may He bless you as well!😷
He was always in love with Vanity
God bless you! America

I absolutely enjoyed this interview. Great job, and I’m glad her story was documented on her behalf, and for prince.
Appolina is so beautiful. I really loved the movie Purple Rain. I had a major crush on her. A first class person.
What a great interview with an amazing woman!
Apollonia seems like just an awesome, warm, and great woman. This was a good interview 👏
Great interview, I loved every minute of it. I wish it was even longer.
❤ this was so beautiful... she seems so strong and so kind. She and Prince loved eachother like siblings ❤
She speaks very well, I can tell she is very intelligent! Great interview.
She’s so down to earth. It’s a testament to how she was raised. It’s hilarious that she won Miss Congeniality for helping the other girls look more competitive, even at her own expense.
Extraordinarily transparent! She pours from her heart exactly what she lived during that time.
No cap,
And the actress who played his mother
She didn’t shade Prince one time. Loyal💜
This was an amazing interview . Great questions and Apollonia is so articulate
“Take me with you” was my favorite song in the movie
