VR saved me from Wow. After slightly over 10 years playing almost daily, I bought my first VR headset and within days cancelled my warcraft sub. Well that's it now isn't it, doomed, wife isn't gonna be happy 😂
Don't. Try Skyrim VR modded, it'll be enough to satisfy your withdrawal issues.

@@ancientgamer5737Just started the game ! Didn't like Flat Skyrim (poor gameplay) but VR makes it magical.
It was my first first vr experience. Started on psvr, then went to pc. Even tried making a few funny videos on youtube. So far it's been the most fun I've had in vr. Not to say I haven't enjoyed many vr games, but skyrim vr has so many opportunities to pratt around 😂 especially with the mods. 😅 My dream Vr game would be uncharted 4 in vr, drool!

Once that WoW bug gets its teeth in you, you're in trouble! I might actually buy a PC just to play this, unless a Steam Deck OLED has enough power, it is an old game.... I need to look into this, and if I can use my PSVR2 with it! 🤪
I can tell you from experience WoW does infact run on the steam deck! I just don't think healing would be very user friendly but doing dps or tanking could be alright. You gotta get the controller port addon

its a cool concept, I think it needs a lot of UI reworking tho to make it feel better. the normal ui looks bad at least in the youtube view.

The VR mod was available in 2007 if I remember correctly for the Vuzix VR920. Great video, as usual!
Options -> Interface -> Camera. Disable all settings in there to always be facing the correct direction. Be sure to set Camera Following Style to Never adjust camera.
I've been using this VR mod with Wrathnilla+ (a server + HD client patch+ solo balanced dungeons and raids repack) and it's basically flawless for what it is, since hand tracking and weapon swinging are big asks. With solo repacks you don't have to worry about letting other players down and you still get a decent challenge and a chance to see everything in VR. The only downside of the VR mod is view distance needs to be almost 0 to get 90fps everywhere. Could be my PC but I think it's because of the 32bit 3.3.5a client.
I don't play it anymore but I've sunk around 8 years into this game since wrath of the lich king. May hop back in with this
I also never played WoW, but just looking at your footage it seems like the interface would be really cumbersome and finicky in VR. Having to use a virtual cursor to click on such tiny boxes would be very hit or miss unless you have incredible precision. It would be pretty cool though if the mod team could either get it functioning with keyboard and mouse support, or make some sort of custom UI that'd work better with VR input devices.
Regardless, kudos to the mod makers. I'm sure a lot of fans will love to just jump in and see a world where they've spent so much time in VR.
I did play WoW and believe you are correct about the interface not working. But I think it way take way more than Modding to really make it decent.
I always want to play wow in VR i have tried to do it with vorpx and thats more like a 3d experience.

Ohhhh shit if this became completely polished I would give this a try. I got a maxed warlock sitting on a server and I’d love to jump back in with a fluid more playable vr experience.
He said in the video this only works on *private* servers.
They need to make a special MMO VR Controller with tons of buttons. Will def try it out.
WoW and other similar games are not designed for immersive VR.
But is looks good(-ish) in "3D-monitor" mode. The only option to see it is VorpX but it required the legacy DirectX version to run.

Since you have to play on a private server I'm pretty sure mods and scripts will be allowed so healing could be automated to button presses instead and so could a lot of other things
So does this just not work for like retail (classic SOD), or is it not advisable to use it except on a private server ?
I could care less about acgually playing the game in VR.. I just want to walk around and see the sights.
We may have just lost IamRuuts. He might just get lost in this world and never come out. They just need to allow the game to be played the way it was intended (With keyboard and mouse in 3rd person)
As a VR Lover and a Wow player of over 19 years this looks amazing! This is classic version and private so unfortunatly wont be play it.
I despise Retail, noped out at MOP. Love classic.
You can play it normal online in 3D with Vorpx too

Pffff 460 days are rookie numbers! Shame we can't use it in retail wow and it's bit ehm, yea. I would like to try it for sure and see it like this, but at the same time I don't think it would work with the amount of combat you got. I think I agree with your buddy until they fix those controls a bit better. Looks like it has potentional though :D!
I played world of Warcraft probably for 10 years but on my EverQuest live account my actual in-game play time was 12 years and I've been playing that game for 20

I kind of wish we could get actual WoW vets to review this VR mod. That being said, I don't think Classic is the best way to implement VR. Retail has been making accessibility better, so I think it would best come to that version.
Definitely need to prioritize games without anticheat or get official vr mod so we don't get banned
Cool idea, but as a long time player of WoW back in the day, the interface is not suited for combat as a port. It "might" work ok just for side quests and solo play but even then IDK. Don't get me wrong, it's still cool and I do think it could work if it was adapted for VR from the ground up. But having play both WoW for 5-6 years and now VR for 3 years, I would not be tempted to try this even for free.
I'd much rather play this in VR than Zenith

First things first, I am amazed that you defined WoW as a point and click adventurer wtf 😂
Your friend is totally right unfortunately, and this cannot possibly be used for the regular WoW player simply because it only works with private servers - let alone the other issues. This means anyone using this mod will simply be using it to experience the game they've played for so long in VR, but not to actually attempt to do dungeons or raids for the reasons your friend mentioned, and the fact that it's limited to private servers.
While this is really cool and I'll definitely be checking it out as a WoW veteran to explore and get a hit of nostalgia, it is definitely not a WoW VR mod that is viable to play long term. I don't think WoW would ever work well in VR, it's just not the type of game for it, especially with motion controls. Thanks for the video!

Yeah that was exactly my experience. I went into it for about 1.5 hours and ran around to Thunderbluff, Orgrimmar, Booty Bay....the sense of scale was cool. What wasn't cool as GT said in the video was the controls. I couldn't even really quest properly or kill stuff, everything was a struggle. I just want
the same way of playing the game as I have for 20 years...there are just to many things going on to be able to point and click in a raid lol let alone questing. Oh, one tidbit the server is pvp and I found out when a dwarf attacked me and I was floundering around to fight back...to late Ruuts you're dead. Then I was getting on a zeppelin and what the controls want to do when you first start going forward is spin you around...that is why GT was facing the wrong direction some times.....well yeah, you guessed it, I spun around and fell off to my death from the zeppelin tower. Oh, then there was the time I was trying to get on the boat to Booty Bay and missed it and had to wait for the next one because my character kept spinning around when I was trying to board this. Mod is super cool....but without keyboard mouse I would equate it with any of these shitty experiences we've had in VR over the last 5 years where they give us a taste of the World. You can get a taste of WoW in this mod...just don't except to actually be able to play the game. Now, that being said the modders told me in the discord that if there is enough interest they will add keyboard mouse support. I suggest anyone reading this who wants to be able to play keyboard mouse mention it here and also go to the flattovr discord and let them know there. I've already decided this is so cool if I could actually play the game as I always have for 20 years I will raid in Virtual Reality....and that is while I'll be playing Cataclysm and WoW HC flat. I love this game, always have....probably always will.
@@iamruuts3798 these are the kinds of things I was expecting. I didn't realize until after I posted the comment that it supported third person view which helps a bit but without keyboard and mouse support there's just no way. When I played everything was keybound with combinations of SHIFT, CTRL, ALT being used to make up for the lack of keys near my hand. I can't imagine trying to do this with a VR controller in any meaningful way.
No M+K support means this is DOA if you're even remotely serious about not sucking at WoW.
I personally wouldn't recommend ANY mmo as a hobby (unless you already have no life at all), they're too addictive and time consuming. I wouldn't mind going through a VR tour for nostalgias sake if it were possible though, just to see it all at scale like I'm actually there. No way I'd roll a new character though, especially on a "private" server where god knows what can happen at any time.
It's neat but for it to be "real", it would have to be available in the actual game imo.
Nobody probably cares but I wanted to share my feedback on the direction of the channel. I am unsubscribing due to the shortness of the videos that's been coming out. It's all just a little too quick and straight to the point that it's lost personality and entertainment in whatever the subject of the video is about.
The videos use to be longer and more interesting and was great to put on to watch some gameplay in the background while you talk, but now it's just lacking that sort of thing. It's why I subscribed a long time ago in the first place. This isn't a hate-comment but just my personal feedback!

I care. Gameplay videos tend to be much more long form and maybe you’re right. I feel like my job is to get people into a headset, to buy a game or obviously not to buy a game. I feel like time is precious and I’m not important. The content and the message first. I want people to get what they need as fast as possible. I appreciate this feedback
