From 240+ to 130 at 5’8 it was a drastic change. A younger girl said something about good/bad genes and I was lucky. I showed my before and after and she was floored. @@psyche8187 locker rooms were an area of our facility we did not allow filming. It often resulted in contacting Campus Police if another Patron complained. We also ask Patrons to speak with Patrons around them BEFORE filming their workout. We have private fitness studios where students can film themselves without disturbing others. The facility I work at is through a college, so we may have different rules regarding privacy. There are minors who attend college classes with us, and they pay for the facility and can use it.

Most gyms I have belong to prohibit filming inside of locker rooms. And they also asked people not to film in the weight rooms because you’re going to pick up other people behind you and you’re also gonna make a nuisance of yourself by blocking the way to the weights because you don’t want people walking in front of your camera. Honestly, if Your claim is that you’re too nervous to be in the gym during peak times, but you’re pretty comfortable with filming yourself Everywhere, maybe you’re really not that upset about working out during peak times.

I'm just happy to see anyone at the gym. I see a person at the gym in a wheelchair, killing it and it inspires the everloving hell out of me. I don't really think about people's weights. It just doesn't factor in to me. I'll smile and talk to anyone haah

I worked at a World Gym (very small one, only had a one person changing room small) while 80 pounds overweight. I was terrified but found out everyone there, especially the chiseled, ripped out of their minds, tattooed from head to toe people were the kindest most helpful people. I lost 50 pounds, don’t work there anymore but still workout there several days a week. I met a really good friend there. He’s 6’4, jacked, with full sleeve tattoos. He’s the type of person I would have avoided and hated from afar at the gym thinking he was judging me. Anyone with gym fear, I suggest going to a small gym where people there are regulars who are focused on their fitness because in my experience those are the people who don’t judge. They want to help because they were once beginners too. I could tell so many stories from working there that would lift everyones spirits about “gym bros”.

I think what the most important thing to remember when feeling insecure or nervous at the gym is that everyone is there for the same reason: to grow and to improve. I get super excited when I see people making a change and building a better self, we’re rooting for you :))))

The way I changed my mindset with feeling like I had to pick up a heavier weight was rather than allowing myself to feel like I was doing it for them, I made myself feel like it was for me; A way to push myself a bit more than I usually would, you’re more capable of what you think and your body does benefit from a little more from time to time. And let yourself feel good and proud for being able to lift the heavier weights. Even if in your subconscious it’s for the others - a little self talk can shut those up good 🥰🥰
Just be mindful of your capacity and don’t let yourself get hurt in going heavier.
