    You claim it's absurd that witches were accused of ridiculously grotesque things but you can easily find grimoires and spell books containing rituals that have exactly what they've been accused of, and more.

    Wasn’t the author sexually obsessed with a woman who he couldn’t have and tried to unsuccessfully have her tried as a witch.

      Yeah yeah.... we get it. Any time a man criticizes a woman, women always say that men are "obsessed" with her.
      The modern era is no different. Women have a very serious PR problem today. I suggest you don't ally yourself too closely with modern feminism and the paternity fraud, 50% divorce rate, the over half of women being single with no kids by 2030... you know... those statistically numerical hard data sorts of things that people always want to pretend aren't a problem until the system comes down like a ton of bricks.
      The metaphorical barbarians are marching to the gates, and I don't mean me.

    Its interesting that there were people in the 1400's that didn't believe in magic or witches or thought that they existed but had no real power. By the confidence & extremeness of the author's writing he comes across as a dangerous polemic. I can imagine more moderate people of his day thinking he was carried away, seeing the Devil behind every corner. It's also worth noting that while he makes biblical references and is quick to call people heretics, a serious accusation in the 15th century, he makes no mention of Christian virtues like compassion and mercy. He doesn't even mention Jesus. So it is questionable how Christian the author actually is.

      Well, maybe to him Faith was so omnipresent that he didn't think it neccesary to state what was "obvious" to him and thought others felt the same. That's just an idea, so idk.

    If they believe that real magic is imaginary then why did they go as far as the witch trials. And why do every religion including the 3 Abrahamic religions believe in Magic and spirits that aid the sources of magic.

    • @dominiquejenkins5495
      @dominiquejenkins5495 Месяц назад

      I'm a Christian and although we don't subscribe to the practice of magic we know its very real very present and can be very powerful depending on who the practitioner is. We believe God is the Supreme power so there has to be other powers out there.. if magic and witchcraft is fake why would scripture even speak on it and warn against it? That question wasn't for you because clearly I agree with you 😂

  • @TheCheshireTree

    The book is surprisingly scientific in many of its approaches. People who didn't read the book may think it yells "women are witches, magic is true".
    But it's pretty logical in its argumentations.
    For example transformation into a beast isn't possible because just God can create and change matter. Two forms can't coexist in one place in space at the same time. Glamour or magic may just be caused by smoke of herbs or some mental diseases. It also elaborates a lot how healers are not using bad magic per se.
    The book basically describes how to separate real witchcraft from other more natural causes. How to use or abuse this information was of course up to the inquisitor.

    This is hilarious and funny and hell I've watched so many witch movies and know a lot of techniques but this other stuff is wild and the real funny thing is I found myself writing songs about such lately. (1st cup)I say Jacob, I went to bath in the ocean off of Cape Cod and a curses witch removed my (censor)does she not know how inconvenient this is? I was planning on expanding my family tonight. My wife will take one look at me and say Ichabod where's thy rod? THis is beyond humiliating, wouldst you know of an ointment? I ran out of the poison ivy salve you gave me last week...ha! I need another cup after 22 minutes. Ha!
