Removed 3 layers of shingles 1 layer of shake. Redeck. And installed continuous ridge vent to increase ventilation
Believe we lost enough insulation from the layers to melt significantly different this winter.
Difficult to say the ammout of insulation present in the attic
Melting side is the south side
Suggested- insulating and installing heat tape in the gutters and downs.
