@@SamsRussianAdventures I looked at your channel and my first impression was that it is geared for men looking for Russian women, which is totally fine but as a result of showing them as all being supermodels that go crazy over foreign men no matter what he looks or acts like is just unrealistic. Did you know that western women are very interested in Russian men? You might broaden your base to include females if you talked to Russian men about their views on dating or what they are interested in. Maybe highlight some young good looking ones because here in the west they are often portrayed is bear like angry old man. Western women love Russian accents too. Just my opinion if you want to attract some extra females to your channel!
@@marlajacques6947 a lot of women who visit my channel make that assumption at first. It seems the couple of videos that stand out to them are the videos about Russian girls. These are actually the videos that I’m least interested in creating but just do it out of necessity. Most of the people I chat to who watch Eli for example, say openly that they watch her content because she is a beautiful woman. The majority of my 200+ videos cover a range of topics. It’s interesting about Russian men, I didn’t realise that they were attractive to western women! What questions would you like me to ask? I’ll make a video on this topic. Thanks for your feedback.
@@SamsRussianAdventures yes I see that you have some interesting topics and only some of them pertain to women. I picked Eli’s and a few other’s channel because I watch them with my teen daughter. It would be interesting to know where to meet single men there and for what age groups, apart from bars for the younger ones. What do Russian men think of western women? Would they date one or any other nationality? Is the common view of them accurate? Are there similar matchmaking sites for Russian men? Are they romantic? What expectations do they have from a partner? I really don’t know and I’ve been studying all things Russian for yrs now 🤷🏼♀️
Wonderful video, Eli! The ‘Lermontov Grotto’ is of course the place Pechorin and Vera got caught in the rain in Lermontov’s "Princess Mary". A shame they didn’t put a sign with explanation on it...
Please continue to make more videos like this one. The city is very nice and I really like it. I like the slower pace and the fact that it's surrounded by mountains. Thank you for showing us this and by the way you are one tough lady!
Thank you for the tour of Pyatigorsk and congratulations on hiking to the summit of the Mount Mashuk. It was interesting to see the statue of Ostap Bender, the character from Двенадцать стульев, at the озеро проваль. Appreciated viewing all the sites related to Lermontov. You are the "Герой нашего времени" because of your informative travel vlogs. Many thanks!
Hi Elina great vlog. The name Mikhail Lermontov triggered a memory. The cruise ship of the same name struck rocks and sank near Port Gore here in New Zealand in February 1986. It was a really big deal at the time. Enjoy your commentary.

I've never been to pyatigorsk. I can tell it has a vibe similar to old Sochi. Market people are not the friendliest 😂. But it's their problems and insecurities.
I'd say that often they are worried that they will be caught out for selling something wrong or breaking the law in some way, so they don't want to be on camera.
I’d say it’s pretty rude to just walk up to people, especially older people and video them without prior permission. Most of these people have been through a tough life and naturally question everything, especially being filmed suddenly. Maybe the complex is in your head and the failure to comprehend certain things?

Grottoes were in fashion in the late 1800s. They were places of quiet contemplation. Basically a carved out shallow cave usually facing the sun. with a place to sit of lay down. In england there was a tradition of building Grottoes in the gardens of manor homes and castles and actually paying a hermit usually in food to live in them.

Pyatigorsk and Essentuki are the first Russian towns I have visited. It was in 1994, couple years after Soviet Union ceased to exist. @@SamsRussianAdventures Will watch couple videos and let you know As for Pyatigorsk, as far as I can see from the video, biggest changes are: the buildings have been renovated and the stores are full of products.
Last year I visited Pyatigorsk during my vacation. I rented an apartment in Zheleznovodsk, which is nearby, but I also went for a walk to Pyatigorsk and Yesentuki. I didn’t visit Elbrus, but I was in Mountain Ingushenia and the Erzi Nature Reserve. It was a very long trip. The excursion bus left at 6 o'clock in the morning and returned only at 10 o'clock in the evening. I was very tired, but it was very interesting. It’s very funny that in this video, on poles with signs indicating cities, I saw the name of the Moscow district in which I live. 🙂
I love your style Eli! You're wearing such classy clothes in all your videos! Pyatigorsk seems like a lovely place to visit. Adding to my list of places I'd like to visit in Russia!
Eli is a phenomenon. It is brilliant that this channel has brought Russia to a different audience, an audience of women. As a youtuber I am aware that 95% of those who watch videos about Russia are middle aged western men, who usually comment on the physical attributes of the channel host, so to attract a female audience is a unbelievable achievement. I'm doing some research. My channel about life in Russia is 4 over 4 years now and also I have around 200 videos but I never ever get several views like Dan. Can you remember why you initially made a decision to click on that first video? Have you always been interested in Russia? Isn't a former Soviet leader from Pyatigorsk? An acquaintance of mine went there a couple years ago, he really liked it and brought back a Stalin shaped vodka bottle. He rode the gondolas too. Does that smelly lake put out sulfur? A lot of healing waters in spas have sulfur in them. It smells like rotten eggs. Supposedly, it is supposed to be good for you to bathe in. LOved the video, more like it would be great!

It's a beautiful city of mountains!
And the icecream seems delicious

Thank you for the tour of Pyatigorsk and congratulations on hiking to the summit of the Mount Mashuk. It was interesting to see the statue of Ostap Bender, the character from Двенадцать стульев, at the озеро проваль. Appreciated viewing all the sites related to Lermontov. You are the "Герой нашего времени" because of your informative travel vlogs. Many thanks!
I was shortly in Pyatigorsk in 1989 as passthrough location to Nalchik. It was everything so chip at that time.

Hey Slava giving respect to you!
I really enjoyed my trip there in 2018!

Thanks for your comment. I enjoy hearing more of the actual history inside tourism. Tourism can become boring quickly when not elaborated.
Cities will soon pay Eli to move to their cities and contribute to that cities tourism. Eli have you ever considered organizing week long tours of Russian cities? I'll bet you'd do well showing the best Russia has to offer as well as real life Russia.

Beautiful city and nature, thanks very much. This is your second video where you have been alone. One has to be proactive in life. It is not necessary to be in a deserted place nor climb a mountain alone.

Pyatigorsk and Essentuki are the first Russian towns I have visited. It was in 1994, couple years after Soviet Union ceased to exist. I went there with a Turkish guy who was taking his mother to introduce to the family of the Russian girl who was expecting his child. As for Pyatigorsk, as far as I can see from the video, biggest changes are: the buildings have been renovated and the stores are full of products.
