Really lovely brewday video Matt! 😊 And cool they sent you the kit, that’s a nice gesture. Grain crush looked good too. I never had the Celebration Ale but I will look into how I can make it here in Germany
Cheers! Great video Matt! I do use that same whirlpool arm, but direct the wort along the edge of the kettle to get a circular motion. I don’t know if you were trying to force the wort thru the hop bag in this instance.
*facepalm* Yeah that would work much better. :) First time using it (other than just throwing it on there to help with chilling) and didn't even think about positioning it properly to get an actual whirlpool going. I appreciate the tip!
Another enjoyable video. I also picked up a few tips. I’ve been putting my malt bag in first then the malt basket. Like your way better. Is that a 220 volt Brewzilla because my boil is nowhere near that vigorous with my 110v. Whirlpool hop fountain was a nice add in 😂
@@Cheezer1966 Thanks! Glad you found it helpful. Yep, this is a 220V 65L, picked it up when they had a rare sale on them even though it's twice as big as I'd typically need, but I definitely like having the 3500W. Glad you liked the hop fountain. :) Thanks for watching!
I love it! I ferment in an upright freezer in the other half of my garage so the signal has to go through the freezer and another door, and it's not particularly close to a WiFi node, but there's absolutely no signal issues. For my next batch (which I'm probably brewing tomorrow) I'm going to switch from my Inkbird temperature controller to the Rapt temperature controller and change the Pill over to use Bluetooth Low Energy, and when you pair the Pill to the temperature controller the Pill then controls the temp which will be awesome. KegLand also just announced that with the Pill and the Rapt temperature controller you can leverage gravity velocity to automate things like ramping the temperature up or down as you hit certain gravities during fermentation (more info: ruclips.net/video/oVNjjFeZWxk/видео.html). I also just upgraded both my Pills to use wireless charging which is very slick. I'm planning on doing videos on all this stuff soon. In short, I love the Pill!
To fine of a crush, the water can't get around and help with better extraction unless you are using rice hulls. I run my setup with a .045 crush get 72% efficiency.
Thanks! I assume that's just with the malt pipe or do you use a bag as well? I did 0.04" on my first BrewZilla batch just using the malt pipe and got 62% efficiency, but could be that the setting indicator wasn't correct at that point either. Now that I have it as tight as it'll go I'll have to mess with getting the knobs to reflect the actual setting. I appreciate you watching and the feedback, and thanks for the tip on the mash temp control settings, worked great for this batch!

Definitely one of my favorite beers
Yea I’ll have to order that one up for my next brew. I’ve ordered a few from them recently because my local HBS closed.
how do you find using the Rapt Pill???

@@irondalebrewing that sounds good l have the pill but have a lot of problems with it
@@daz9062 that's a bummer, what problems are you having with it?
it's not working with there web site so no info from it
@@daz9062 That's a bummer -- has it ever worked? I'd probably start by doing a factory reset and taking another run at the initial setup.

@@irondalebrewing just use the malt pipe and did sparge. After mashing in, waited 15min then did 45min of recirculation.
