I don’t know about it being taboo for us. It’s a blessing you’re able to do that, for alot of black people this just isn’t an option. Congratulations on this chapter 👍🏾

I agree, I never knew it to be taboo in the black community either, but we do sometimes, in our minds, think things that are not true based on how we subconsciously feel. It's a blessing to have another place to call home and the only shame is in not seeing a blessing of God for what it is.

It's okay to move back in with family. It's not a sign of failure. I rather be living comfortably at home with my people than be begging out here in the streets, any day.

Hannah, I’ve been a silent viewer for a couple years now. I’m 28 and recently had to move in with family due to a dispute with my landlord. I’ve been feeling so defeated and depressed. It feels like I’m taking 20 steps back. You give me hope to keep my head up and try to be positive.

Ish happens… It’s OK. You did it once, you can do it again. Don’t EVER feel defeated over material ish (being on your own, etc). I promise, it’s going to be OK (this too shall pass)… Try to change your perspective AND use this move to your advantage! If you can (once you can), save, save, save, save.

Hannah, I too am 30 years old. My mom passed away in 2020, at the time I was living by myself. Fast forward to 2021 I relocated to a new state. In June of this year I was laid off. Things have been very hard financially & there are so many nights I wish that I could call my mom & move back home. When my mom was alive I ALWAYS HAD THE OPTION TO GO BACK HOME. It is a blessing to be able to move in with family while you figure things out. Wishing you so much success , healing and financial abundance on this new journey. 💕

I too moved back in with my family this year. I've gone through alot of life changes this year and as you stated it is soo expensive and I honestly don't regret it.. I went from paying $1600 in rent to my stepdad allowing me to stay my first 3 months home rent free then only charging me $400 for everything excluding food. It does feel like you're giving up a piece of you but it's only temporary and it's for a greater purpose. Do what you have to do to get where you want to be ❤

I moved back in with my dad when I was 22 and I’m 27 now and I’m able to save so much more money, I got a new car, I help my dad with his bills and I’ve improved my credit tremendously. Listen, I moved back in with my parents at 35 to attend grad school. I made a 3 year plan and stuck to it. I have since bought a home and graduated. If you have the ability do that, do it. We put so much emphasis on age when measuring accomplishments. Those three years allowed me to spend, what I didn’t know at the time, would be my father’s last years on earth. Do what’s right for you and your life goals, the blessings you will get from and give to others is abundant❤.

I know a lot of people can’t say that. Between the job market, the economy, debt, it’s ridiculous. If I could, I would move to Wales or something 😂

26 and I moved back home after graduating last April. At times I feel like I’m not “adulting enough” and am missing out but it’s nice being able to save the $2000+ a month that would be going into rent and utilities. Plus after sacrificing groceries all through college I needed a break from the struggle lol 😅

I’m much older and had to do the same 30-32. I felt like I was so behind in life, after living with my parents for 2 years as an adult, I was able to purchase my own home, and eventually moved to another state. It was a time I used to recalibrate, store, save, and re-establish myself. From that I was able to take care of myself even more. After that experience when I hit a bump in the road my bounce back was insane. You will learn a lot in this season. The only life clock is the one God set for you. We often feel like failures and behind in life because we benchmark ourselves against others. I learned that it’s not fair to compare or parallel our lives against others because you don’t know what advantages, setups, and experiences others have compared to you. Only measure yourself to the you you’d like to be and move to become that person. Your timing is yours and no one else’s.

One thing I will say about you, Hannah, is that you are always honest and genuine! Keep doing what you’re doing because I know the Lord will honor your truth and honesty.

Congratulations on your move. There is nothing wrong with moving back with family. I'm older, and lost my job in August - 5000 laid off. My lease ends in the Spring. I'll be moving in with my Daughter and Son-in-law. They asked me, and we feel it will be a win-win. More families need to come together. I truly believe the economy will get worse. And whatever decision you choose, make sure it's what works best for you and your family. Don't worry about what others may think or say because that's your life and you deserve to be comfortable, happy and at peace.

I guess I don’t get since I have been on my own for so long.

I think moving in with your family is wise, wealthy, and prosperous. Instead of prospering the real estate companies with rent you can preserve wealth within your family. I am assuming your sister owns her own home. A few years ago There was a man who works at the Pentagon who spent $600k on a big home in Georgia now the family can sell that house for a million dollar or more. The man lives with his parents, wife, adult children, and grandchildren. Keep making wise decisions.

As someone in the same age bracket as you, I get it. I stayed with my sister (and her hubby and kids) for quite a few years because I was blessed enough to do so. She's also my bestie! Staying with her allowed me to save a ton of money. I live alone now, but we still hang out everyday. We're at the point now where we're trying to start a business together and all thinking about buying a house together. My brother-in-law is from West Africa and my family is from the Caribbean so to us, living together was always the norm. I say that to say that life is a journey. You just gotta figure out what works for you, where you want to go, and how you can get there.

I decided to move an hour away from my job to move in with family. It's a HUGE adjustment and I do miss having my own space. But being able to live in a peaceful quiet house, no noisy neighbors stomping above my head, being closer to family, and watching my sweet neice grow up has made it all worth it. Congrats! I don't think it's taboo for us, but I am Jamaican. It's actually taboo for us, especially as women, to live on our own. Moving out broke my grandather's heart so much that I moved back home! I'm so glad I did though! We should definitely build generational wealth together. We've got to help each other out!

Hannah you look so happy. You do what you need to do for you and your life. To be honest a lot of people will be moving back in with family sooner than later.

Hannah, seeing your post is just confirmation that I “me” made the right decision to relocate back to NJ from Ga, back home 🏡 with my mom at 1st I felt as if I had failed myself being in my 50’s but the truth of the matter was my rent was increasing but the pay wasn’t. I was just barely paying my bills. So I had a long mental discussion with myself to relocate so I could get back to myself mentally, financially and spiritually. I felt as if I’d let everyone “my children “down which was not the case,.. So I’m looking at this change as SELF DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY 😊. I must have gratitude 🙏🏽 for even having a home to come back to some people are not Blessed to have that option. .. So I thank you for sharing your story with us, because there is no age limit for reinventing ourselves..Congratulations on your NEW JOURNEY 💕💕

What a blessing! This can set you up in so many ways. I wish I had that option. Save your money, pay off debt, and prepare for the future. I see HOMEOWNER in your future! What seems like a setback for us is usually God setting us up for elevation. Great Vlog!

I am so happy that you are loved, supported, and covered by God and family to have a life reset! When you were discussing the transition to your sister’s house, you took the words right out of my mouth when you said that among the Black community, it is taboo to live in a multigenerational home. There is nothing like being surrounded by family - whether it be biological or chosen - that will support you through different stages in life. This is not a set back, but a setup for even more greatness! Thank you for your transparency and sharing your life with us. Can’t wait to see more content from you 🫶🏽🥰.

I was literally in the same boat 2 years ago! Ended up moving back in with my parents and it was definitely bittersweet after living alone for a few years. But it’s such a blessing to have family to help you through times like these ❤

Omg I needed to hear this!!!! I am 36 I have been living on my own before I was able to buy alcohol. I am considering moving back with family, but I am struggling with the thought that I am a failure if I do so. After hearing this, it is motivating me to go back home and regroup.

I've used the 3rd party services through Uhaul a couple times and it was a great price for to get out and loaded. it's so true about living together as adults is in some cases "looked down on" in our communities. It can benefit everybody. I'm glad you had family nearby.

Hey Hannah!! Im probably one of your older followers (age wise) 🤭but I’m being transparent here…girl I had to move in with my family in 2021 and I was 42 with 2 kids. It was the best move I ever made. I was able to save money, pay off debt, and buy my home. I just moved in my new home August 20th (my 44th bday). It’s hard out here and housing (renting and buying) is expensive. It is a true blessing that you have family that is supportive of you. I pray that you are successful in every aspect of your life that you are working on. This is a great move!!! God bless you and your family!! ❤

I never comment but this is amazing! My mom has been pushing me and my two children to move in with her. She even said rent free 🫶🏽 She moved to VA from NJ a few years ago and I’m not ready to make that adjustment lol. But girllll if she had a house in NJ I would pack up TOMORROW! Financial freedom is definitely the goal so don’t feel bad and the way THIS ECONOMY IS… HUNNY IM WILLING TO LIVE WITH MY MOM UNTIL I’M OLD AND GREY🤍😭
