    really really great video, would have been even cooler if we got someone to try it who had no beta and hadn't done it before so we can see how / if they break the beta

    More of this! It's amazing to see Jake break these things down - climbing dynamic routes at the Arch always makes me wonder how they force such precise movements, this is a real good insight!

    10:26 Jake's explanation of splitting multi-dynos seems to be spot on. There were indeed a few problems in the final rounds (possibly both finals, maybe some semi-final? Can't remember, too many hours of WCH binged on lately...) where the winning tweak was exactly that. I'm pretty sure the pause is even more obvious on one of these other boulders and it might even have been Super Janja showcasing it again.

    Saw the reference material for the problem, heard Jakes take on the problem, heard his thoughts in the process of setting, and heard a cool take on actually doing the problem. This video was done excellently and I think his ideas on it came through quite clear.

    I know everyone’s already said it but seeing jakes process is top notch! Hearing a boulder broken down to its bear essentials from a pro (joké’s pro in my book) made my thought process on similar blocs change drastically. Seeing y’all climb is lovely don’t get me wrong but hearing your gears turning on a really complex problem is just so engaging for some reason... I love the goofy vibe y’all carry in your videos, it truly makes the experience so enjoyable seeing y’all fuccin about, but you guys do have legit climbing insight to an amateur like me and I LOVE IT! Definitely improved my climbing marginally (from V3 to V4 baby!!😎🤟🏼)

    how do you know/estimate the steepness of the wall/holds? Is it just experience? Whenever I watch the stream I cannot make it out at all because the wall is lit up from multiple angles.

    Our gym had also set a 1-2-3 problem with a ninja kick and slopey holds. Same thing was true there, you basically deadpoint and slowly go to the first hold, latch on and generate swing from there. If you went to fast you couldn't get any purchase off the first hold and would instantly fall off.

    When do you guys redo all the routes in the gym? Do you do it lafter close or really early in the morning? And how long does its usually take?! I know you're open everyday of the week so just wondering when all this secret magical shit happens hahah

    • @mayawitters
      @mayawitters 5 лет назад +1

      They set while it's open, they just tend to section off one bit of wall and work on that. So the gym never gets reset all at once, it's all staggered throughout the month. If you climb in the day while they're setting it can be a bit noisy, but otherwise no disturbance.

    Can someone explain the difference between innsbruck and the world cups I just watched? Are they not the same?

    • @brainvalet
      @brainvalet 6 лет назад

      The recent innsbruck comp was the World Championships, which takes place every two years. World Cup season happens every year and is made up of a number of World Cup events hosted at different locations.
      Having said that, there will be another championship next year cause it’ll be switching to odd years to accomodate the olympics

    There something I don't understand fundamentally about route setting from my experience drilling screws into wood, why is there no stripping or splintering occurring here?

    • @amanhjames
      @amanhjames 5 лет назад

      Its because of the pressure applied to the block while screwing/drilling it in.
      If you were to drill a hole in the wall you would want to use masking tape over the spot before drilling to prevent splintering.
