Elton John - Grey Seal (Pepsi Center, Denver 2014)

- On September 20, 2014, Denver, Colorado’s Pepsi Center was treated to one of the earliest songs in Elton’s concert repertoire. ‘Grey Seal’ was written in 1969 and originally recorded during the sessions for Elton’s eponymous 1970 album but only appeared on the b-side of one of his UK singles that year. The song was then re-arranged, re-recorded, and released for the masses in 1973 on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, giving us the sparkly version we hear here.

I grew up with three of these guys… Elton, Davey and Nigel. It’s such a trip to think that love started 50+ years ago!! I got in on the 2019 GYBR tour in LA and had a blast.

I was at this show. Absolutely amazing! It was my first time seeing Elton, and holy crap, he put on an amazing show! I'm actually writing this while Elton is playing at Pepsi Center right now, and I'm stuck at home. Lol. But I'm glad I got to see him live. I will never forget it. :D

It’s pretty cool to come across a video and realize, “Hey, I was at that show.” Elton played a number of songs from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. He also did a couple from The Diving Board (“Home Again” and “Oceans Away”) and a rockin’ up tempo version of “Hey Ahab” from The Union. It was a great show.
