    Nice video. We used to own an X1 for a while here in the US. It's a total pain in the butt to set up, but when set up, it's awesome. Doing the same in high wind - near impossible. Unfortunately, we get a LOT of wind here in the US West. Then just the pain of having a trailer behind the truck on tight trails (try to turn around when the track is blocked and there is NO way to turn around for about 10 miles back ... absolute nightmare. We are on a truck with a Canopy Camper now. 10 second tent setup, 30 second awning setup. A lot less space and always on the truck, but hell is it sooo much better for what we do. It's a great rig to set up a basecamp for a few days, but every day in a different spot? Forget it. And people who claim "it takes just five minutes" have never tried to set this thing up in 30 mph (or more) wind.

      Sounds like fun over there! Yes the 5 minute people are delusional.

    Another option is an Ultimate Camper. Made in Moruya on the South Coast of NSW. They are available for rent as well.

    Defo the worlds most expensive box trailer with a roof top tent. Cant deny the quality of it but. Its well made and will go anywhere tow vehicle goes. I guess it comes down to price/how you camp/whats needed and whats not. Were happy with our 20min setup with our ff camper as much as some my mates are not keen coz theyd argue with thier misso 🤣.

  • @slogue77

    Great vid to see your thoughts and how it all works... Misso and I are in our late 40's , we so would love the X1. We always go deep Vic High Country to get away from everyone. We use RV5 set up , that can be a bit of a set up when you have all the walls to zip on, well prob takes 20min. ... X1 would be like the Hilton Hotel for us .. Each to your own and what you love, but we don't want a caravan until were 70 , we love deep bush to much ...

    I went actual camping as a girl guide. I was 11. Now over 50 and I really need solid walls. No shade on others who love it but it’s not for me. After I set this up, I’d crack a drink then fall asleep in the loft style bed 🥴so much hard work 😂

    Packing up that tent looks like a pain in the ass, especially for one person, and in foul weather even worse. I’d reckon they would make a racket in windy conditions, nothing seems very tought

    • @caravansbythecampfire
      @caravansbythecampfire  Год назад

      I think if it had a hard shell tent it would be better - all rtt’s move around a bit it the wind - this one was pretty firm when set up. The appeal to us is the go anywhere factor - I need a bit more comfort I reckon.

  • @JoshSinnott97
    @JoshSinnott97 Год назад +1

    You should look into the x1n model. You can install any roof top tent you want on that. That's would be awesome to have but it's 50 grand. Very hard to justify when you're entering the pop top/hybrid price point
    If it was 30k it might be a different conversation

    • @caravansbythecampfire
      @caravansbythecampfire  Год назад

      Yes, I don’t mind the X3 either, more internal space and they have easier to erect awning now. I like the “go anywhere” aspect of these trailers - you’re correct re the hybrid market - heaps to choose from well under the price of these.

  • @YehShano
    @YehShano Год назад +1

    X3 is probably a better option for 2 people with an easier set up without an annex and still has indoor seating/eating option..would have to experiment with both to really know I guess though

    Would someone thats 6ft4 tall comfortably move around under the awning or inside the tent area without hitting ones head?

    • @caravansbythecampfire
      @caravansbythecampfire  8 месяцев назад +1

      I’m 6.2 and no worries. You can adjust the camper to be taller as it has pump up airbags which should do the trick. Inside is fine. I’d go and check one out to be sure you are comfortable.

      @caravansbythecampfire  Год назад +1

      @@waynesturley6695 ok, fit a brake controller in your vehicle if you don’t have one already. If you’re just going to a caravan park then get a powered site and you have no requirements. If going off grid ensure you identify how long you need power for and fit the van with suitable power to last the time required as if you are in poor weather. You will need roof mounted solar panels that have wattages twice that of the battery size, you can choose between AGM and lithium batteries and ensure you have an mppt solar regulator, a AC/DC charger to charge the system when connected to power and a DC/DC charger installed in your car which will charge the batteries correctly and efficiently when the motor is running. Search RUclips for the hundreds of 12 volt caravan system and information - do you research for the environment and requirements of your travel. Hope this helps!!
