The Dr acted totally unprofessionally and unethically. Not only did he leave the family believing the anonymous donor was her father to use his own sperm would have even then been considered a no no. He could have impregnated many of his local
patients increasing the risks of the offspring meeting and forming sexual relationships - inside or outside marriage. That there were rules is confirmed by the Donors being allocated numbers.Her parents were sensible in not wishing a local donor. Her ‘real’ father died when she was 7 but he seems to have been a real good guy. In those days it was expected that Doctors would behave ethically. He made his money through successful fertilisation, so he had financial not compassionate motivation.
That brothers and sisters would be married might be a legitimate concern however when two get married they do a blood test. So if you are going to have a child outside marriage a blood test should be done. The doc did a good job otherwise that pretty smart woman would be there. The mum did want th he father known in the first place and ho anonymous. The Doctor didnt way to be greedy and also lose his cover. In this case it took three to tangle. Mum wanted the Dad unknown. Generous Dad didn't want to blow cover. Daughter got too curious. And curiosity killed the cat. Be happy its who you are daughter of a great compassionate doctor.

Ok, I am adopted by a stoic Italian family. I am blonde haired blue eyed. The plus here is that she did not get any medical issues from her dad. I lived with biological parent uncertainty. So I understand that. Another plus is that she had a good family life and has beautiful children. Focus on the good and the blessings. God works in mysterious ways.

I think that doctors intentions were truly in a good place. He shouldn’t have done that but at the same time he was nice looking and intelligent and he made a beautiful daughter. In my opinion they should be grateful.

Sounds like the podcast "Sick." Its shocking to see this has happened at all and by more than one fertility doctor.
Was the donor list anonymous to all parties? Was the donor on the list the lady was given?
I wonder why she was searching so much. First, she was searching through her mother's emails. That was wrong. Then after she thought she had found her biological father, she still did a DNA test, to find what?

I thought the donation process was anonymous? I would be furious if that was breeched! If your Mom chose to have a child that way then you accept that. I feel it is SO WRONG to hunt down a man that never intended to be found because of a confidential contract. That and the fact that your Mother CHOSE this method of having a child WITHOUT the doner involved.....I don't know, maybe it's just me....

Not the first time I heard this kind of story around the world, in my mind the first thing that a woman should do is to test if the doctor isn't the real father.
By the way, we are now talking about millions of people that have been born by artificial insemination.
Let’s keep in mind that most drs go into their particular field because they have some form of compassion. It’s not at all uncommon for a man in the obgyn/midwifery to fertility to pediatrics to have been a sperm donor at one point in their lifetime. Why? Because they see what some people struggle with and it’s a five minute fix give or take to be a donor....an anonymous donor at that! So I would agree that many men in the fertility community could be linked to a patient in one or more degrees of separation. It’s not like every male fertility dr does a dna test on every sperm to check and make sure it’s not his sperm.
Also, the voiceover of the “fertility dr” only stated the obvious, according to a dna test he was the bio father, and that he was a sperm donor at one point in his life. Also, I’m pretty sure that the anonymous sperm donor clinics who have a history of not being very good at record keeping don’t actually have a box to check for “local” and it’s definition. I’m also curious how well this mother memory was to be sure she and the dr understood the definition of local (city?, county?, state?) to be the same if it was even asked. Combining two different donor sperm isn’t uncommon when the selected donors sperm isn’t great at breaking through the eggs outer membrane, so another donor is typically used to help facilitate that with a fair chance of the egg being fertilized by one of the two.
Oh and #106....who the hell claim fatherhood to an adult woman without a dna test? And seriously the mother or daughter didn’t find it necessary either? But 23&me was going to give you more answers to your family that your new daddy hasn’t mentioned already? This whole story is fishy. Lol thanks for letting me spill my thoughts on your comment. @@erins.5420 Thank you for 'spill' your thoughts, but I still think doctors shouldn't be sperm donors doesn't matter how merciful they are. The probability that they become sperm donors of dozens of children is very high if you review the real cases and this can became a problem of interbreeding in the future for the society. Besides, the promise is to find someone else to be the donor, not to inseminate with his sperm. And if he was a donor at some point, some administrative should be taken to avoid his sperm to continue to be used even creating new laws for it.

@@DomingosCJM I disagree. I look at the offspring and its healthy intelligent humans. I would hold the donor responsible for the welfare of the child by penalizing them with making a heft monetary reward to the child. Yes part of the estate should go to the child. That's his blood period.

I had a different accent from my brother and mother. I grew up in Texas during formative years and my brother was in Alaska. I was mocked by my physics instructor by the way I pronounce my A's. When doing voices, I have to rerecord over and over again to get rid of it.

This is absurd, she is lobbying for it to be a felony. Not sure if she is aware that if this would have been the case, she would not even exist. Some people just act wit5hout logic or thinking.
The whole concept of sperm donors is morally challenging. What he did was wrong but genetically speaking she has the genes of a healthy intelligent doctor. He should have assigned his donor sample it’s unique number to avoid unknown genetic siblings accidentally getting into intimate relationships. And told the mother and got her to sign a waver so he is in no way responsible for anything in future. I’m not sure why the mother and daughter are so shook considering it was a sperm donor to start ???
It’s a weird story and the doctor should have told the mother he would supplement with his sperm. I would understand outrage if Kim was supposed to be created using Jill and John’s sperm, but we’re talking about anonymous donors….

It's good to be curious about knowing everything but at the same time respect the mother for giving her the best. It should be taken as a blessing and Infact she should help more women who can't conceive the natural way and have more and more blessings from such women.

Are you for real? ‘The man sucks for doing it for a few bucks’. What on earth do you think motivated the Dr? In his case ‘big bucks’ as his money came from successful fertilisation.
Having worked with people desperate for children via adoption, surrogacy or donor, they have to rely on people behaving ethically. Without donors many people leading happy and successful lives would not exist, however, it is a complex area as most of us would want to know our biological roots. Her mum recognised that. She was happy to meet her supposed biological father but the fact that the Doctor who delivered her, who would have had an intimate knowledge of her mother’s body, had been using is sperm is sickening. Someone had written, they would have been happy to have a Dr as their biological father, that endows Drs with some mythical status as superior beings and is extremely naive.

She said she didn’t want a local donor therefore he should have respected those wishes. I’m from the area, and a lot of people recommended me him & his son, and I said no, I’m not going to him or anyone in his office because of this story. 🤷🏻♀️ if he didn’t respect her wishes, point blank.

The bible is very clear on the parent child relationship. Honor your parents. Her mum was playing in the dark so to speak in other words hide and seek. Anyway 106 didn't work and the generous Doctor did some soul searching and helped. She was blessed with this little girl. He was also playing along but then came a blessing from above. Wow she should be mad at her mum but again you are offspring. I strongly feel that offspring should be grateful these two brought her into the world. Again honor your parents beautiful woman. It's just who you are. That Dad wasn't there for you is your Mum's arrangement. She definitely did not want your father known. But curiosity did you in. You wanted to know who your Dad is. At least understand the circumstances and appreciate who you are. Live life and be happy. Who knows Dad might want to make up for lost quality time with you. At least he is not denying. He might leave you some of his wealth including your other siblings from him that are probably roaming out there.

These are the kinds of things that can happen when you begin to dabble in Frankenstein "science". You are dealing with human beings and there are no perfect and sinless human beings. Therefore if there is a way to corrupt, then corruption will occur. Little do we want to realize the consequences when we begin to play God and demand our own way. When we circumvent God, do an end run around Him, to get what we want, the consequences are always going to hurt. We just want what we want. We are impatient, demanding and then we begin to figure out ways to "make" it happen. Now, this beautiful young lady was a blessing to her mother. She is not to blame for the circumstances. But there are consequences to be dealt with. And one was the corruption of this doctor and what he did was wrong. He deceived this mother and how many others. OTOH, this daughter, once she found out her father was not her father, should have left things alone. Because now she's hurt the man who thought he was the donor/father. What an upheaval to his life. And finding out how her mother was deceived by the doctor really does not help her, her mother or anyone. She is alive, well, healthy, loved... she should have left well enough alone. But let this be a warning to other men and women. Do not be a sperm donor because you are seeding children that you refuse to take responsibility for (the doctor) and it could come back to haunt you. What if your daughter married one of your children by sperm donation?!? What untold damage have you done? Women, if you can't get pregnant by your husband, accept it as God's Will and quit trying to make it happen because your machinations may have consequences like this.
