CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Walter (Tom Hanks) and Anna (Shelley Long) have a huge blowout in front of all the workers, and decide to split up once the house is finished.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Adapting the themes of the 1948 film Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House, this comedy stars Tom Hanks as Walter Fielding, who with his love Anna (Shelley Long) decides to buy a suburban New York home for next-to-nothing. Both Anna and Walter are willing to fix what ails the house and since they are both successful professionals, that should not be too difficult. Unfortunately, what ails the house might be terminal as the rest of the film chronicles the battle between the couple and the disintegrating structure. Construction workers come in to make matters either worse or better -- or both.

Possibly the funniest line in the film. Once when was watching this film with Spanish-language dialog I was especially waiting to see how they would say this line. But unfortunately it was lost in translation. Still oneof my favorite comedies in any language. "I ... love this film!"

These two lines were the only thing I really remember from this movie. It's one of the best scenes. Money Pit, Splash, and The Man with One Red Shoe are classic Tom Hanks comedy and I wish I had them all in my DVD collection.

I think it's amusing how this movie has achieved the status of undiscovered gem. I saw it at least 10 times in the 80s. The comedic acting is masterclass. If you're watching this to learn how to portray comedy in film, don't watch it. It's too good. You can't learn from anything where you can't "see the seams".

I'm a great fan of Sam and Diane and have such a soft spot for Shelley Long. She still gets a lot of grief from many Cheers fans for leaving after five incredible seasons. They'll point out that her movie career did not fulfill expectations. Perhaps so, but she made enough films that were just plain fun and entertaining to ordinary people like me. She was a serious actress who excelled in comedy. Hope she knows her work is still enjoyed and appreciated.

This part always bothered me, not because of the fact that they were arguing, but because she was the one accused of cheating on Walter and then turns around and acts like he has no right to be angry.In addition, she at first refused to renounce the ownership of the house like most women do when couples split which furthermore proves the typical sense of entitlement among women had then just like they do now.....Female dominance and hypocrisy at its purest.

+ClassicTVMan1981X She is kind of sort of playing it, not keeping in rhythm with the other players, but her set up isn't bad, she sure is faking it well, not really moving her fingers though, but pretty convincing otherwise. It looks like she has had a little training on it, maybe she played when she was younger

She felt terrible and told him after he said he's understand..so instead of feeling like she had to hide it to save the relationship she felt safe enough to tell him..because of what he said..and she said it only proved how much she loved him afterwards..remember ..she thought she did it when she was blacked out drunk. And when he said he'd understand ..she was probably like..wow..what a great man..he can forgive me for making that huge mistake..and then..he flipped out...anyway..yeah..I don't blame him for losing it..but he shouldn't have told her he'd understand if she did bang him....because that's just bullshit lol Walter was insanely jealous of max..so yeah its no wonder he flipped
