This is the best macOS feature video I've seen. No wasted time, but doesn't go too fast. Well done.
THIS is the type of feature exposé RUclips has been missing! Useful, no time wasted, smooth production values, excellent voice over… it’s literally perfect. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Next step is to create the cut and paste feature on Finder, and separate scrolling method (natural or not) between the trackpad and mouse
CMD+Option+V
You can just cmd+c and then cmd+option+v.
This is for copy and paste, not cut and paste 🤔
@@aftasarden2 you’re wrong. What they’ve said is correct. There’s a difference between cmd v (copy and paste) and cmd option v (cut and paste). So cmd + c for copy and then decide copy and paste or cut and paste by the cmd + (option) + v. That ability to do that has been in Mac OS for a long time
I would say a clipboard is now a much needed feature.
Whoa, the Macintosh wallpaper is dope af… system 6.08 vibes all around
Yeah, I am excited to get that. I like the natural scenery they offer now, but that Macintosh one is even cooler.
I am forced to daily drive a macbook at work because that is what my staff loves to use, but I would always switch to my PC whenever I get the chance. Sequoia is making me change my mind.
I’m the opposite. My custom-built PC is gaming beast and I love it for that, but when it comes to productivity for work, I get loads done much faster on my little MacBook (M3).
And my electricity bill prefers it as well. 😅
good to see you again , Jeff
Very detailed information thank you
From the iDownloadBlog days, Jeff stood out with his unique videos because he cares about quality. And he's also blessed with a soothing voice that compliments that! 😂
Jeff, I can't count the hours you save me with your re/over views of new features. Once again an excellent job.
Finally Reminders and Calendar makes sense! I've been crying about this since the very moment I started using Reminders. This is such a welcome change!
Great overview of the new features. Can’t wait for full release. Thanks.
Sonoma Calculator design suits the Mac better with the large squared buttons. Your overview videos are always the best.
EXCELLENT work!
I love the classic wallpaper
Thank you for focusing on some features that others completely missed! Also quick question about Mail, does the "Remind Me" feature now makes the email disappear or still not ?
At first I was t overly excited for this update, welcomed but not in a rush. After seeing some of the features in more depth I’m stoked.
Excellent description of Sequoia!
Many thanks!
Will those features work on the Intel CPU's too or limited to apple silicon?
Has anyone figured out how to rip the new dynamic wallpapers out and install them into Sonoma ? I tried but I can't seem to find the actual files in the filesystem.
Thank you
Have u tested sidecar with new Apple Pencil pro
Omg, I missed it on the keynote, tiling is a god send for MacOS
You can also resize tiled windows by grabbing a spot between them. It’s the same as resizing side by side windows in full screen that we’ve had for a while. I am loving the beta but it has minor bugs and it drains the battery of my 15” M2 Air.
As cool as it is, I recommend waiting for the public beta if you are not a developer.
Omg i can finally maximize windows! Thank you
3:25 thanks for letting me know. As a Guatemalan living here, I kinda needed to know that rain is finally stopping 😅
Gnome has had window tiling for quite a while as well. And actually, tiling window managers have been around since the very beginning. Xerox PARC developed a tiling window manager.
Didn’t know about Xerox PARC window tiling, but not surprising. Those guys were way ahead of their time in a lot of areas.
Some improvements to the dock would be really nice. A Windows-like taskbar would probably be the most efficient way to switch between apps.
Nested Virtualization for Docker running in Win11 VM. Woot!
stable enough for daily driver?
Does "Send Later" let you send your message based on location? Like, if I'm traveling somewhere, I want the message to go out once I arrive at a specific address, not necessarily time.
Guatemala button here
Still missing animated controls which were present in macOS 10.10-10.13, as well as menu animations/menu item icons/segmented control animations to match the other platforms.
I wonder why lyrics on the Music app wasn’t updated to the same format available on iOS and tvOS
But can you right click files from the dock yet 🤔
I wonder how deep Apple intelligence will be integrated into macOS. Will it be like the iPhone? I wonder if it can tell you about files
We may get a glimpse soon.
Your mackbook is m3? I have macbook pro with m2 max and tiling windows is lagging.
when they release i need it so badly
I’ve used imazing for about 4 years. Recently there has been an update that messed up backups. It no longer backs up my device.
Drag and drop is not working 😢 but iPhone mirroring works fine
JEFF, to be true I have been listening you since the days of iDB and I guess I was 13 around that time. It's been a journey man.
Making me feel old! How old are you now? Please don't say over 30... 😢😀
@@9to5Mac haha! I am going to turn 27 this year.
the background music, voice over is so please to my earsss. Feel like meditating 🧘♂️
don’t got a Mac but I do have a Skylake hackintosh laptop from 2016 that refuses to die despite my best efforts. Downloading sequoia right now
How many more years of software support will the MacBook Air M1 be getting?
I would imagine several more. But cannot be sure as Apple hasn’t specified.
A pity that they didn't do anything with "Spotlight". A mac function that I use all the time for opening files, folders, apps, finding mails, and a lot more.
I hope Spotlight too will have som AI-features built in.
Would have been nice if the passwords app supported OTP like Microsoft or Google authenticator.
Can the password app be used/integrated with 3rd party web browsers or only Safari?
The search within playlists / views in music is nothing new, but it was well hidden under a menu and shortcut cmd + option + f
I like how they updated the chess game, prob taking advantage of the Ray tracing. U can tell the pawns casting shadows with different size from a single light source
Chess with ray tracing?, maybe just a lighting change because then that’s a thing only on M3 chips
I live in Britain and I don’t know if Apple intelligence and iPhone screen mirroring will be available or I’ll have to wait like the EU
Thanks! Is it stable enough to make an update?
lmk if smb replies to u
@@JuiceWRLD-pi1fz could you please transcribe your message
@@repentandliveholy let me know if somebody replies to you.
@@JuiceWRLD-pi1fz Ok, thanks
5:12 Magnet is still better, IMO. I have an ultra wide monitor, so it’s nice using the 1/3 split. And all the Keyboard Shortcuts FTW.
Great video! But the video is distorted 😱🙄
Was windows tiling really a limit of Windows? Cause various Linux desktops have had tiling since before windows had it, I'm sure they could have implemented something in the however many years since it was introduced in windows 7 (or vista?)
Another change is that if ou "Add to dock" in Safari, it now supports content blockers. Yum.
does the password app autofill on chrome now?
HDR looks so crisp on RUclips
And macOS sequoia is been faster then ever
i cant join the discrd link
Does Jeff just chill in Guatemala?
How's this new password app going to work with third party browsers?
Still if I can sideload in iOS then I will leave my android phone, overall apple ecosystem looks great. Overall subtle change which needed in Mac os
For chess I like “Staunton chess set 6” look, but it’s not available in Apple chess app 😂
Can't wait to towel windows.
way to go for the eraser :)
9to5Mac... why is your News content online region restricted? That annoys me each time I have to turn on the VPN to read your news online.
window snapping is great, but that gap between the tiles is throwing me off
You can disable the margins in settings :)
I think Apple forgot that they promised a Music widget for macOS last year. Still hasn't shipped - a widget. Not exactly rocket science.
I love how the only person who tried to stop them at Stonehenge was an older Japanese tourist. It’s very sad that people would be willing to destroy something so important to human history. If they want to change things they should try to make stop oil companies by making it obsolete as an energy source, by creating and not by destroying.
I think you commented on the wrong video lol
Chess is the best feature update
Link to the “Here’s to the crazy ones” screensaver please😊
windows tiling, a patent? :D its in linux since ever.
Finally Windows tiling. One thing Windows users have been using since Windows98... 🤣
am i the only one who doesn't have the new ui on my mac?
Nice update. But if they actually update chess, pls let me uninstall it too lol
I hope there are more updates to come because these are boring. When will they do something with the contacts app? It's pitiful
To be fair, it's been a long time since we've had some really "cool" macOS features. Apple usually saves their exciting stuff for mobile. That being said, the new iPhone Mirroring is COOL. It will launch with beta 2. We'll have a full walkthough.
That's true. I want more love for Mac OS.
@@9to5Mac Plus we still have all those Apple Intelligence features to come as well. Possibly (hopefully) the biggest improvement hasn’t been included yet!
19:57 That's not a new feature.
Simple things that anyone can think of shoudn't be able to patented
You're drooling over the features in notes that Emacs has for decades. Mind blowing :)
Same with iOS, they're giving you features that Android has for years.
Apple fan boys :)
Ummm..... window tiling is not a Windoze thing.
"windows has had that forever". Yeah, mac literally couldnt do it because of a patent lol
5:19 Revolutionary Window Tiling
10:42 Windows Vista Chess Graphics
passwords app is horrible, soon as I got to work and installed it on my windows machine, it's asking me for the pin from Windows Hello to unlock it, the problem is, all my colleagues have that windows pin to log in in case I'm on holiday or I'm working from home and someone need to access my pc. So everyone can see all my passwords. Couldn't they add an option to log in with a different password? it's unusable at the moment.
Please, stop using HDR and 60 fps. We don't need so much brightness and fps.
First
bored
Apple acting like the ability to automatically resize and split windows at the corner of the screen is groundbreaking, meanwhile Microsoft has had the ability for years. Apple is lagging behind, ever since Jobs died, yet people and myself included still buying their outdated softwares.
I buy their machines because there's just no hardware that rivals M series' performance-per-watt, but I'd swap MacOS for any modern Linux distro or even Windows in a heartbeat. Asahi is way to alpha to be a daily use OS.
Come on 9 to 5 Mac, your whole video is squished
