Excellent work. I tried this a few days ago, just to see if I could get anywhere, and the farthest I made it was to the Red Key. Teleporting back to the main room killed me. Props to you.
Yeah, he really needs to Focus on this level and make it through this Gantlet, or else he might never make it past the Entryway and will end up in the Underhalls of hell.
American McGee is a genius. One of the most efficient level designers, and probably created the blueprint that the Casali brothers would use for Plutonia. My favorite McGee map (and my favorite Doom II map overall) is Map 14: The Inmost Dens. It's just beautiful.
@@estefencosta1835 Quake 2 is so dull compared to their previous games without Romero and Petersen, and McGee was burned out from making Doom clones all the time by then, so his heart wasn't really in it. The guys who made Doom and Quake 1 special were gone or near-gone when Quake 2 was made.
@@IzunaSlap Yeah I think the decline of most big studios can be traced to the people who made the studios special in the first place leaving. I don't know, the remaster for Quake II sure has redeemed it at most. If you want truly terrible, there's Rage 2 Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, and perhaps Hexen. I don't care if they're made by different devs.
Christ, I yelped out of instinct and fear from that Zombieman respawning right next to you after you started going for the red door. Thank god iD added that half-second delay to respawning enemies on Nightmare.
Only 5 attempts, very well played! And you got so close in your first (and fourth) attempt... I completely agree that anyone who's into Nightmare should give this map a try: it's very hard but so much fun thanks to it's short length.
I've been really looking forward to this one!😀 I knew this one would provide a challenge ever since you announced you were doing this challenge. Great job decino.🙂💛
One of my favorite Doom 2 map visuals, one of the more realistic looking techbases yet! So realistic they had to add those constantly moving shutters so that it would make less sense. Even has The Interactive Light Switch!
This has always been one of my favourite Doom II levels - short and sweet (not so much on Nightmare apparently), a perfect early techbase map. I even dig the music.
Wow that was close probably a little too close at certain points it's that treck to the red door those shotgunners in that area behind the opening and closing window those I can imagine are the most deadly depending on how many have respawned and teleporting back literally a nightmare I guess it's a fine line between staying and taking out hit scanners in the way but also not hanging around too long because of the health that's gunner be chipped away let alone the chaingunners and that in the final room to the exit anyway brilliant video as always and with that cheers for upload decino
These runs are so great! I love that even though there is no attempt count at the start of the run like the older days, you foreshadow in your narration your deaths lol. "Please floor be nice to me." etc. Good luck with the runs!

Already difficult enough to deal with the monsters in the focus, and we still havent seen a single one of the bigger DooM II new monsters yet (revenant, pain elemental, arachnotron and archvile). This is going to be a very intense yet fun challenge to finish the whole game. Keep it up, decino 👍
One thing to mention in terms of difficulty is that this map has only 2 Medikits as the biggest boosts of health you can get in this map, with one being behind the two legions of shotgunners. I don't even remember there being any armor in this map beyond some bonuses. Definitely a very tough one.
With your newfound experience and skills in nightmare, do you want to do another run of “Not Even Remotely Fair” but this time to get 100% kills? Wow, I've played through the entirety of Doom II several times and i never knew about the light switch. I always hated how the entire room is so dark you had to lighten up the monitor to see anything.

You know, I'm kind of sad we didn't get to see the full force of this level making you take 20 tries. On the other hand, congrats on getting it so quickly!
I never really loved Doom II in any way. It felt like cheap addon to Doom, pretty much everything about it. Thank you for making Doom II actually look interesting with your Nightmare runs!
