So happy to be a part of this effort. Truely a blessing from God. What is so amazing is the record was set with just 2 runs. Congrats to Jerry and Jeff.
@@DrDuley When I don't crash the bike it really streamlines the whole process. You are an integral part of the team for the past six Bonneville runs, thanks a ton.
What a ride!! Congratulations on your record 🏁
@@bobcote1375 Bob hopefully the next record won't take another 13 years and 50 runs.
Well done Jerry. Looked like you got the best out of the Triumph.
Congratulations to you and your team. That's the fastest I've seen my channel sticker move!
It was a to sticker running as a modified bike but we got what it had to give. Last year your sticker went 164 mph on the tank 😁
Well done Flat Cap, excellent riding, very very impressive.
Look forward to the tech stuff in next video.
Cheers man
Thanks John
Im as impressed at you getting back on the horse as i am of the run. Well done, Jerry, rhats just awesome.
We couldn't leave perhaps my last ride on the historical Bonneville Salt Flats ending in a hospital visit could we Roger?
@@flatcapcaferacer we couldn't, but I'm not sure if my wife wouldn't be ok with it. LOL
Seriously, I know many people, some of them long time riders, call it quits after a wreck. You didn't.
Thanks for the kind words
great speed Jerry well done
Thank you sir!
Jerry... I've been holding my breath. I completley understand that you didn't want your (likely) last run at Bonneville to be the one you had last year. This was a really impressive run on salt especially when you have that super high density altitude. Congratulations to you all for the accomplishment. I am so glad to hear that all the meticulous planning and team efforts paid off with this record and that you returned home undamaged!
@@RPO767 Your comments mean a lot to me Roy....thanks.
Well done, thanks for sharing the video. Can't imagine how it must feel at those speeds on that terrain!
Maybe the next time is snows a few inches and gets packed down by cars, that might be the closest thing😃
Congratulations on a record run!! Very cool to watch. I am very much looking forward to seeing/hearing more about it in the future video(s).
Not as exciting as riding a Goldwing on your curvy roads😁
@@flatcapcaferacer ah yes, but speed is always fun!!!
@Motoramblings and sometimes expensive
@@flatcapcaferacer I bet!! Last year looked quite expensive….. I’m sure there’s a ton of expenses I have no idea are there
Hello Jerry, You certainly did very well on the day, and you completed the runs with no issues and arrived home safe and that's the most important thing. It's always a pleasure to see you racing on the Salt Flats, which certainly didn't look smooth. Congratulations to all of your team on a very successfull event, and look forward to the forthcomming detail. I must also say that it's great to have Guys like Jeff Massie the Motorbike owner for sharing his Rocket 3 for this event and the speed runs. Cheers
Thanks Joe, hopefully you saw your channel sticker thanks for the good luck👍
@@flatcapcaferacer Certainly did Jerry Thanks for taking it along. That's officially the Fastest @kimetogo RUclips channel sticker around and I have the evidence to prove it, Great stuff.
Thanks for keeping a lid on the results
Well done Jerry. A beautiful bike too! Glad you made it through safely!
@@Tubesmaney Mike the Rocket 3 is beginning to grow on me. I might be a little too old and a little too small for the Rocket 3 as a regular rider but who knows.
RUclips didn't notify me of this, and I was thinking of you so jumped on the channel and heres the video.
Real good work by you and the team. You came home in one piece...The drop in HP due to Attitude etc is quite a drop! Heck of a bike , I will have one shortly. I'll look forward to the tear down vids.
Congrats on how this video has taken off as well .
@@exeterrider We didn't get a ton of footage of the inspection and teardown. When I video I didn't have audio, the heat killed two cameras after being on 40 seconds. Heck I had sunscreen on one. The inspectors went out of there way to give us the opportunity to run and really didn't have to. This was a small crew so we didn't have extra hands to take videos and pictures.
@@flatcapcaferacer I have just come back from Cyprus and I had the same issue in 40 degree heat, it's the only time my GP9 chucked in the towel due to the heat🔥👍
Congratulations from us at How 2 Wrench!
Thanks Shane it's been a dozen years coming.
Sounds like it went well to expectations and in your words, " it couldn't have been better" so , on to Monday morning quarter backing! If your happy, I am happy. Well done sir
Blake I'm satisfied that I got what the bike has to give, 165 mph that would be happy 👍
Wow, absolutely incredible! Congratulations. You're very very brave and deserving of the achievement
@@NooBiker I had your channel sticker on top of my helmet so how could I go wrong. 😁
@@flatcapcaferacer ♥️♥️♥️
You're even braver than I thought!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Holy cow! That's quite an achievement. Congrats Jerry! I have to admit I was surprised to see you back there. :)
I couldn't leave the salt on a crash. I'm up for more if I can either get a record or break 200 mph
@@flatcapcaferacer Very impressive. It's official, yours are bigger than mine. :)
🤣🤣
Crazy to think that I may have had a very slight influence on this record happening. Brings me back to when Jeff was asking me about my thoughts on the new Rocket 3, then later he bought one, and later yet allowed me to run it on the dyno for some power numbers.
Congrats on the record, brings a huge smile to my face seeing my people doing awesome things.
@@M5F1R3 We were talking about you during Speed Week and your awesome technical skills. I think Jeff wants to do more and his Rocket was rock steady out on the salt. Thanks for commenting it is always good to hear from you.
Congratulations!
Beautiful video as usual, well done.
Keep up the great work. 👍🏻
Thanks for the kind words👍
Great effort. Thanks for posting.
I'm up to 49 runs on seven motorcycles over 13 yearsand thks was my first record. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Congratulations!!!! Very happy that all went well. What an amazing experience!
If you would have been there I think we could have gone 3 mph faster😅
Rear wheel speed vs true speed on dirt/salt, are never ever the same. Thanks for sharing.
@@a.jsipple7322 The Rocket 3 was also off 7 mph showing 151 mph at a GPS indicated 144 mph on pavement. So I guess 9 mph it was on salt that much more.
That's damn impressive on a bike that's not hidden in farings!
Camera/Screen suggestion - have you looked at the cameras and goggles used for FPV drones? It should be possible to pull one of the screens in a set of goggles apart, so you can put one of the screens for one eye in to your helmet, so it's always in front of you, regardless of if you're sitting up or crouched down. Some of the screens, when they're split apart, the pixel layer is nearly transparent, and there's a backing and reflector behind them. If the screen's light source is to the side like some LCD's, or the pixel itself, like OLED's, you may be able to have it so it's effectively transparent when looking up, and fully visable when crouched.
@@PiDsPagePrototypes thanks for the tip
@@flatcapcaferacer The FPV cameras are a wide angle view, and they're designed to stay cool when air moves over them,.. Be sure to make sure things work before crouching over the bike on the salt :)
An old laptop or PC screen from a recycler is ideal to pull apart to see how they work, before investing in FPV gear.
Congratulations on your record.
Thank you 👍
Congratulations!
Thank you sir
Excellent. Thanks for the video
Are you still going down for the Speed Trials at the end of the month?
@@flatcapcaferacer Yes Sir!
If I'm back from my ride with my nephews I'll come down and cheer you on
@@flatcapcaferacer That would be amazing.
That was such a great time. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Thank you all for taking a chance on me👍
Fast bike!
I think it can do a real 160 mph on pavement with some cool weather but 152 isn't bad
@@flatcapcaferacer I bet that loose surface makes it seem faster! I have only ever went that fast on pavement!
@tammyforbes2101 I only notice the speed when going by vehicles along the course or when I got thrown off the bike like last year 🤣
Well done Jerry and the team, you got the best out of the bike it was going to give you and no spills this time. I've heard the biggest drawback to getting more out of the Rocket 3 is Triumph purposely fitted reduced sized exhaust ports, a bike needs to breathe out as well as in.
True the only mod to the bike was the ECU and removal of license plate holder. They even had us remove the fly screen
That's still one helluva speed Jerry, especially on salt! 😂
Glad you got a record, but is it me or did you sound a little disappointed?
Glad you're safe with no spills mate 👍
@@tojj29 Nige you always want another ten mph. I got greedy last year or it would be two records. I probably could have moved the record average up a couple miles per hour but the rieward wasn't worth the risk.
Hey Jerry, Glad to hear you made it to Bonneville. All My Best, stay safe My Friend!
I just learned max speed on my Triple Black GT the other day, it maxed out at 148mph.😮
With a better air filter and the same tune as the new Storm, I bet it will max out around 160mph.😂
I'm curious as to your riding style on the speed run. How'd you come up with that!? 😅
Enjoy your time on the salt Brother, and Stay Safe! 😎
@@AGRIV8TD1963 Thanks..we hit 161 mph on the speedometer but going 152 mph.
I'm just trying not to get blown off🤣
Hey Jerry, Are you
aware of Bob Carpenter of Carpenter Racing?
Let him have that Rocket so he can perform his magic on it. I bet your speeds will increase significantly. My old Rocket was hitting speeds of 168mph. I couldn't get it past that. The old redline, speed limiter, was 5700rpm, and 135mph. After Bob Carpenter's magic, the redline was 9000rpm, but I never went past 8500rpm, and the max speed was 168mph.
Call Carpenter Racing this year for your next run😂
Boy do I miss that bike!!! 😭
Robbie I first noticed Triumph used them in for the two engines on the Triumph streamliner efforts in 2013 and 2016 .
I'm just the guy who rides them, if they ask I'll give them my opinion .
I'd like to have ridden your bike at Bonneville, we could have made you famous 😉
@@flatcapcaferacer
I would have Loved to see the performance of my ol' Rocket III Beastie on the Bonneville salt!
But with Me on it! 😅
My wife says I'm not allowed to send this bike to Bob Carpenter. I'm 60 and disabled, so she doesn't want me to Kill myself 🤔
Usually with age comes experience, and I am full of it 😂
I understand Robbie, I'd feel the same way
Never been to Bonneville with such a hot temperature and high density altitude. Wouldn't it be nice to have a place closer to sea level for this kind of racing ?
@@billdee9622 I'm a tradionalist Thunderbolt. Keep the U.S. salt runs at Bonneville. The weather, density altitude, and lack of traction provides the connection back to the first land speed racers there. Pavement racing on airport runways are now developing there own history.
When I look back at the legends of racing who raced at the same location as me I take pride in joining them however briefly in the record book or just competing the same courses.
The Density Altitude is likely the difference in your run speeds.
One factor for sure Patrick. I think if I pushed the first run like I did the 2nd run the top speeds would have been closer. The lower DA definitely allowed the bike to top out faster.
Congratulations ! The Bike was so stable this year , did you make any changes to it or was it just the better condition of the salt this year ?
Last year the older model Rocket 3 was a 2014 highly modified running on very sketchy salt. This year we ran a newer model 2021 Rocket basically stock on much better salt.
@@flatcapcaferacer Nice ! Congratulations again , well done sir !
