It was very nice to see Nick's bus. That young man traveled a ways to make that show. These old buses need young blood. Nice job Nick! And thank you Scott for finding him!
Couldn't agree more I'd take the last coach shown B4 a new 2 million dollar Liberty coach anytime.Exquisite cabinetry and details befitting of a quality vintage coach.🏆
Some of these buses are crazy. I can't imagine that one young man who got his bus at 17. I was happy with a van at his age. That coach at the end is wonderful. I wanted a bus but the SO wanted the BlueBird and now we have 25 tons of coach of our own. You made it to the big time, Busopoly ! Thanks for the tour Scott. Wife was out so I had the surround sound on. Don't take that muffler away please!
I drove for Peerless Stages in the Bay Area in the 80's, and they still ran a '53 Silverside, (painted), with that wrist breaking steering. I remember one day, I was driving a 4106 in the Santa Cruz mountains, when the muffler fell off! What a fabulous sound that 8V71 made! Reminds me a bit of your bus.
I love the bus tours, Scott. Great to see what everyone has done to their rides. Love the Busopoly game and the guys with the 50,000 mile Custom Coach. Wow! The silversides with the lockers inside is a great build, too. So much cool stuff.
Bus greasemonkey gets on a bus with a board game with bus greasemonkey on it....mind blown. and i agree that silverside HAS to be one of hte nicest ive ever seen.
I had seen the game before. Gary has been a bus grease monkey member since he bought his bus and he came to our first bus rally before his bus was drivable. Bus grease monkey online forum
It’s nice to watch a BGM video that has bus after bus that are well maintained and at least for this day problem free! So wonderful to see these works of art at the top of their game! Thank you for showing this wonderful collection with caring owners!
@@MrMauserb, yep and I was there. The Greyhound Station had just finished being remodeled and the Bus Rally was the exclamation point to that beautiful Art Deco building. Didn't go to this rally, sorry that I missed it.
High Scott, Thanks so much for the bus tours, we need to see more of those if you can spare the time. It's got to be a lot easier than sticking your head in a wheel well or engine bay. Take care of yourself. All the best. Dg😊
It is amazing seeing all these bus enthusiasts. Takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to rectify one of these. I drive limo buses and I think these old buses would make a great party bus. Someone should build an upstairs. 13-6 at the top.
The first time I went any where by my self was on a continental trail ways bus back in 1977 from LITTLE ROCK TO AMARILLO TEXAS...THE BUS HAD A 4 SPEED AND WAS BEAUTIFULL. ...I guess I have a sweet spot for busses because my last professional job was a mechanic on MCI 4000 E busses ....I learned that I didn't know much about busses but I always kept them running I have never been challenged as much as I was when working on busses...MY hat is off To you!!! ..
that's crazy, I can still remember the smell of the air conditioning on the scenicruiser we rode on from Phoenix Az. to Alameda CA. I was maybe 6. My aunt from Alemeda worked in a toy store and had bought me a beautiful sailboat toy that we put in the overhead and I forgot it on the bus. never saw the boat again...I remember being facinated by the skylight about the stairs, It was green tinted. It rode really well loaded I remember..
Hi guy's.....You have the most original and unique shower I have ever seen. I reckon that'll work so good job buddy. I am always so grateful when I see video's of good guy's like yourselves. If it weren't for your love and passion for these beautiful old ladies, they would all be gone now, so thank you so very much for being crazy bus guy's.
PD-3703 = the "Camelback Cruiser." Those were aimed at charter operators and Trailways affiliates for use on low density routes. They're a direct descendant original steel WWII "Victory Cruiser" which came either as a PGA with a GMC gas engine or a PDA with the 4-71. The Victory Cruiser front end was also slapped on to the Yellow transit body to make the PD-4101.
That is a nice paint job on Larry's Scenic Cruiser! MC-6 looks sharp, I love those body lines! I agree with you on the Silverside, it was awesome inside, and so was the Custom Coach! Nice show Scott!
I always figured you went to school as a detroit mechanic, I was wrong. You are the Best GREASE MONKEY!!!!!! Thank you, you make my day........I had a PV4106 long time ago
Excellent and very pleasant content on this video. Detroit Diesel engines sounds real awesome, I think it is a real American legacy to preserve and maintain on its best shape! Congrats!
I must say, my favorite is the Scenicruiser. When I was a kid, mom and dad never owned a car, but I sure did see a lot of America from the inside of a Greyhound! "Go Greyhound and leave the driving to us!"
Years ago Greyhound was great. I used to travel it a lot with my great aunt and uncle who didn't drive and it was always fun. As a kid I met all kinds of cool people especially from the military during those trips. They also didn't fly because she survived a plane crash and nearly lost her leg. But they had a custom coachman railcar that they took on longer trips and it was amazing watching the country roll by from it.
My Dad drove for Greyhound in the mid 60's to 1979 during their last strike. He was a school teacher by trade and took advantage of Greyhound training to drive for drivers that they needed during peak times. He made more money driving than he did teaching at the time.
The walk around and the tours were fascinating - such a variety of styles and interiors! You tastefully did not go into the various costs and build pricing on this collection, but you can't help but notice that some folks have spent much more than others. Yet each one had its own character. It is fun to imagine owning each one as you went through, bachelor pad studio to family RV style and everything in between. But any one of them would be a blast to own. I got a kick out of the one that you were going to spray oil on the engine - never seen a bus engine look like that! Everyone here will agree, Lenny has the best 'personality' of all - even if the driver exuberantly shifted with some grinding noise a couple of times... 😏👍🏆
Thanks Scott. By the way, I was salivating when you took off in your bus. That 2-cycle Detroit sound was absolutely delicious !, & the last bus, drop-dead gorgeous! I would live in it happily.
Neat Video I was born in Blytheville Arkansas in 1951 my folks and grand parents farmed around there my folks moved to California in 1952 but my relatives stayed there my Grandpa and Grandma are buried there. I have been back many times and been to that bus depot Dad took a bus out of there to Memphis a few times. Love your Videos.
I just started watching but have to say that gentleman's bus at 5:30 is incredible...……...as where the rest of them too. But god I cant imagine what that guy spent on that one Silverside. Just the metalwork alone to get that thing straight and then that interior. It reminded me of a old rail car that my great uncle used to own and travel in.
Wish i had went this year since blytheville is my home town and got to meet you. When i first found your channel i was going to mention the bus station
Fantastic buses m8. The closest we had to Greyhound in New Zealand was Mt Cook they had MCD = Mount Cook Denning. Allison Auto and they would fly. They were that good they would re body them to make new lol. No longer around but some buses are motor homes and corperate travel. Love your work...
Buses from the 50' & 60's as the 70's & 80's look better than these modern new buses, especially Greyhound when they went from the red, white & blue colors to the dark blue. When I was a kid I had a Buddy L Greyhound bus in the 70's & wish I still had it. Thank you for sharing, enjoyed video.
Wow does that take me back to my kid days I done many a mile on a Bone Chaser accross Canada many times I'd fall asleep heading home and the Driver Carl Stychin would stop in front of my place come back or give me a push Your home young man every Friday I'd wait on the hwy 2 pm to go to Edmonton Alberta on the #2 hwy from Athabasca Alberta. AWESOME VID Scott. 4.25 c fare for 70 miles
Wow this is the best video I have seen on YT by far. Just seeing the different buses made me smile, I loved the one with the busopoly game. That was so unique. I’ve been watching so many bus videos and tiny house videos and I really have grown a passion for the tiny living. I’m hoping I can live like that one day. Awesome video tho👏
Now I'll tell ya what... those Greyhound Scenic Cruisers are about the longest vintage busses that I've ever seen... By Got.. A family actually could live in one of those monsters.
The federal government limited bus length to 35 feet at the time, but Greyhound built it anyway. And then they forgot to bribe the correct Democrats, so they were not allowed in most places.
@@MrMauserb - They may not have been allowed initially, but by the time the last one rolled off the production line in 1956, they were running all over Greyhound's network.
Some very cool buses, very nice of the owners to let you do walkthrough videos on them. Nice to see that George got his hub for the 4104, I was kinda waiting to see that. I can't imagine getting a bus when you're 17 (especially with the licence laws here in Australia), but a Silversides would certainly be a very unique first car, he's done a great job with it too.
A lot of very nice conversions there with them old buses I drove trucks back in the day that had Detroit's usually 10 speeds and 13 speeds I never developed a love for a Detroit I was always wanting to jump in one that had a Cat or a Cummins if you pulled into a local diner with a Detroit the Cat and Cummins guys wouldn't even let you sit at their table they used to say Park that Georgia Milk Cow out back until the 60 series came out then the detroiters were somebody again now there's no more Caterpillar now if you got a Paccar engine they tell you put that thing out back out of the way⛽🇺🇸🗽🤔
I was actually driving through Arkansas during this heading to Texas from NY. I wish I would have put it together, and I would have stopped. Great video!

I drove for Greyhound out of Thunder Bay Ontario in 1980, and finding this channel brought back a ton of wonderful memories for me. Thank you.
Best half-hour I've spent today. Motor homes are sooo 2000 - the wave of the future is retro. These people are really fond of their buses.
Really impressed by the fact that these buses are being saved and kept going. Most are a credit to their owners.
The last Silversides on the tour was indeed gorgeous. Even a modern Class A RV can't match the detail in that rig.
The typical modern class A "plastic palace" couldn't ride the tail wind of that classic beauty!
Oh God yes!
Couldn't agree more I'd take the last coach shown B4 a new 2 million dollar Liberty coach anytime.Exquisite cabinetry and details befitting of a quality vintage coach.🏆
there is a full walkthrough with all the details here on youtube.. 1947 Greyhound restored by grandfather’s love
The interior of that Silversides was done by Paradise Coach Interiors in Coburg, OR. You don't want to know how much it cost!
Neds bus has gold leaf mirrors! a flash from 1970! I love that nostalgia! 17-18-19 year owners. what does that tell you about old bus hugs! Love that.
