You know me well enough by now, I've been critical of Forza, its release, its updates and whether they'll ever do enough to fix it. I don't say something like this without good reason, and I've tried to show my working. What do you all think? Thanks for all the support as always, I appreciate it 🧡
Thanks for the update to the AI! It seems well enough that I MAY log into Forza and give a try after these past few months. It ALL hangs on YOUR recommendation!...hahaha j/k
@@DoomsentGaming It was a non-headline update so I think a minor change has just improved the AI in more areas by default. They definitely need some more work, but even their pace is more consistent already from what I've seen so far.
I agree. This update was a great step forward. Let's hope they continue on this trajectory. Good content. We're at the point where the community is officially the worst part of Forza. (if it wasn't already before)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!! The community deserved better on day one for sure, we need to be constructive in further criticism but also acknowledge when T10 have listened.
I'll admit this is better than I expected. 4:30 is actually pretty good. A little contact like this shows that cars are aware of their opponents, but don't overcorrect or overbrake to keep a comfortable distance.
I agree, when I saw the contact come up in-cockpit I rolled my eyes thinking there was probably nothing to talk about, but my external review was that it looked like pretty genuine racing.
6:23 for the question of how are they on other tracks; they're still morons on Virginia International through the S's after the straight. AI will never be perfect though, I don't expect it to be. All and all, the upgrade system is a huge plus in my opinion.
Thanks for the answer 👍 Tbh I didn't think I was lucky as the AI would crash for fun on Spa before, but think the small update they've done has accidentally made them better in other scenarios. I agree, it can't ever be perfect but it can certainly be better than what we got on release day. Hopefully more concentrated updates on them will follow.
The pit lane length seems to be measured from where the car is in a straight line to the pit exit, or as the crow flies, rather than a measurement of how long the actual pit lane is
this is great news, as someone who mainly plays against 7/8 ai, and against drivatars in general; I am constantly getting bullied by them lmao. if I can have a cleaner and more enjoyable race against them then that's awesome!
This is a small AI update that seems to have had wider positive effects, I'm certain there's more to be done but battling up to 1st also seemed possible rather than them running away into the distance as you battle the pack.
@@hotcircuit that's good to hear! often times when I get ahead of the pack, pole position is too far out to catch up to in time lol. I agree with more to be done but, this is a good step
I can now go around the outside of the AI without being rammed 100% of the time, so much better to drive against. I don't think the AI was actually aware of the player before, I think that is the main fix they made.
I think you're right. Hopefully I can do a re-run of my longer distance race in the next few updates that prove they can lap traffic without getting stuck too.
Since ive been acclimating to my wheel, Ive been driving against the AI since the update at max difficulty, and its been fair and challenging, and the field doesnt seem to unnaturally bunch up
That's great news and was pretty unexpected from this update. Glad you've been enjoying it. I wasn't at all excited for this month's preview before trying it, pleasantly surprised to be wrong 👍
i wish they would update the spa track because in real life the track has new gravel sections and stuff like that, and i wish they could add multi class races to multiplayer
@@hotcircuit Best is ACC with 'Buttonbox' (& Fanatecwheel)! Really cool that is working 100% on SeriesX. Especially turn on separatly Fuelline and Engine with Toggleswitch and to switch between configs without editing buttons is really great🖖 Buttonbox is working on Forza too, but the selections are very limited...i hole they add and supports this more🙂👍
The livery editor is broken since this update. You cant adjust vinyls anymore in a 0.5 step. Not every input is random speed and it renders the livery and vinyl editor useless.
Oh wow, I got frustrated trying to make 2 numbers the same size on my door, but as I don't really modify liveries I figured it was a skill issue 😄 Then again I couldn't even find how to paste the same thing on the other side 🫠
AI improvements are really great. Surely not 100% there yet, but overall more than just a small step into the right direction as AI felt atrocious before and now it's OK-ish imho.
I'd say it was unplayable before, but now it's of a better standard in close-quarters. You can still force it to overdrive off the track and I'm not certain if it's better over longer race distances yet but it's a good start.
Although the Al has improved, it feels to me like they are more rubber banded now. i.e. after the first couple of corners the lead car is generally about 8 seconds clear then by the end of the lap I have caught it up easily and then the race settles down to be more normal.
Yeah, it was almost impossible in a short/medium race to catch the leader if you were driving from the middle/back before, but now it seems a little too far on the easy side at level 8 to haul in a second or more per lap. They do still seem to back off a bit once you get past even though they do seem way closer overall.
We'll gloss over that until they say something I think 😆 Obviously I'd rather we had a radar and/or audible warning, maybe enough people have said something for them to take notice in the coming months. From their statement it wouldn't surprise me if unfair penalties and AI improvements are their focus for updates 7 and 8.
After update 5 I was finally able to run a decent smooth framerate without turning things off or resolution scaling (yeah on a 3080 OC 🤦) I haven't re-checked this time around but it seems fine.
I wouldn't since Forza refuses to run on my RX570 since about January. And I mean it crashes to desktop during startup and says my graphics card isn't supported. It ran just fine up until then though.
Update 5 I think introduced the "solution" to issues with below what they deem minimum spec by detecting and stopping launch of the game, even if it worked before 🤷
great, now if only they could either a) fix that god forsaken proximity arrow or b) give us a damn radar or spotter. The base control scheme for my wheel (other than being all over the place) only has a look right ffs
Yeah the arrows aren't much use especially online. I'd even be half-happy if the telemetry port settings allowed us to use a custom radar overlay in Simhub or "car on the left" prompts from Crewchief. It just exports basic car data from what I've seen.
The AI looks much improved. Are they any better at long distance races? Trying to do endurance races was pointless previously the AI would fall apart after 10 laps or so.
I was wary to go there as AI wasn't a "headline" update here outside of the more detailed release notes, so might give them a chance to do some further development before pushing my luck 😂
Just did 45 minutes around Silverstone in GT. One mandatory pit. They're a lot better, and actually were competitive in some spots. The only issues were the random braking and not making any moves once they catch you, once you're past them they still kinda give up.
It's clunky as hell imo, I got frustrated just trying to add left & right number decals the same size, so the limit of my patience is painting everything orange 🍊
AI feels so much better I see, its not perfect, but progress is progress. However, I still think the AI doesnt seem to fully understand 'coasting' the car nor trying to apply half the throttle/brake which might explain the randomly braking even on straight. Hopefully T10 will take a look at that on future updates.
Yeah braking in reaction to other AI or even the player does look to be the biggest thing left that messes up my flow during a race. The excess speed/mistakes into corners is technically realistic as humans make mistakes, but they do make them a little too often. Pleased it's going in a good direction though! Thanks for watching 👍
If Turn 10 will continue to under-promise and over-deliver, they'll be sitting pretty soon. I will say whatever they messed with, with regard to the weather system, seems worse from what I've seen in multiplayer. Overall the game is definitely improved, but they also broke some things in the process
I'm certain if the penalties are addressed to improve online races, and AI are tweaked a little more, we're in a good spot all-round to enjoy Forza as it should've been on its release date. There's feature enhancements, settings and other bits that I'd still like to see but they wouldn't be holding me back to enjoy it in the mean time. I hadn't even noticed any weather changes, is it changing conditions that caused you problems?
@@hotcircuit The lighting system in particular was making practice hard because it couldn't figure out what time it wanted to be, but the race was fine. Although the textures were looking weird. There's a few people I've heard from like you where the game is hopelessly always broken, or crashes all the time. As somebody who's only had a handful of crashes - so the bugs or shortcomings of the game itself are a bigger deal - it never seems to be on the same hardware combination 🤷🏼
playing on a series x and it still crashes every other race after wasting time qualifying right as the starting grid lines up. done with this half assed game. uninstalled for the 3rd and final time bring on assetto corsa 2.
I can get behind AC2, even though we know next to nothing about it. I am realistic that Content Manager has given us so much in AC beyond what Kunos did, but hopefully they've learned great things from ACC/LFM/CM and will bring some of it by default.
The update is good. AI do seem to be better, game is stable and finally a car progression update. Now let's hope they won't slow down and keep fixing the game, still many bugs to go. And for the love of god, if they gonna encourage you to do long races in free play, at the very least remove rewards cap from the mode... They are laughable as it is, no need for a cap..
Also still lot of work to do on AI. They cannot handle faster cars that well, and in every race the last few cars are just driving from a barrier to a barrier, damage their car every lap, and act as a moving chicane in the process, because they will take the racing lane regardless lol. Accident recovery is still awful, they do not care if you are close by or not, they just drive back on the track with any care, but at least racing itself is much better.
Really good points. I made a video recently about not having tyre multipliers available for AI or private multiplayer races. It'd be good to have a slightly longer race incentive with shortened tyre life as almost 20 viable laps on softs is beyond what most players are going to be even doing. No strategy in shorter races like that at all 😭
Ah yes, the only strategy in those races is pit when you run out of fuel. Even on longer races it's like this. Done plenty of 6hr races, and no matter the car / track it's always put mediums on, empty the tank, repeat. The only variable is tyre type, but very rarely it's anything else than mediums.
I'd like to take part of the comment back, the game is not stable at all. For me at least. Got more crashes this week than in any other patch combined, and all of them in menus / loading screens for whatever reason.
