Great video. Thank you for making this! We took the train from Amsterdam to Köln with 8 friends, however the last part of the trip, from Düsseldorf to Köln, was cancelled due to a lack of materials. That was the only downside, otherwise a very smooth trip and good trains! I was especially thankful to have so much room under the seats to put leftover luggage.
Hey, thank you for your feedback. In 2022 there are a lot of things not going smooth in the summer time, effecting mainly people for their holliday travel. During the week out of the summer season it will impact business travelers as well. Due to this maintenance staff shortage too many trains where only traveling to Düsseldorf this summer. I just want to make clear that the summer of 2022 in terns of rail travel isn't how things should go normally.
Love your videos and your Dutch accent 😊. Nice to see my home cities station from your perspective 👌👌 Btw. Funact: I tried to imitate Dutch accent on my channel 😆😆😆
Such a missed opportunity that the white-red color scheme was chosen. The ICE trains that are owned by the NS should've been painted yellow - blue while still retaining the same design as DB
Compared to the U.K, this train seems like luxury first class, in terms of speed, service, quality and cost-effectiveness. No such shop variety will ever greet you at at any UK train station either. I'm really offended by what passes for a train station and ride in the U.K. Most of the time you'll feel like you're cattle from one creepy destination to another in the U.K.
I feel like UK long distance trains in first class are actually really good. Also one of my favorite stations (I don't have a specific favorite one) is in the UK, London St. Pancras. However I understand what you mean, I noticed smaller stations in the UK when I was there. I really want to cover more in the UK because there are so many domestic flights, I really feel like covering more long distance trains. Last September I had a crazy weekend in England and soon I'm going to the Isle of Wight, this doesn't cover the long distance trains though.
Really informative video - thanks. Glad that Frankfurt station is gettng an overdue renovation. What a shame only one of these International ICE sets has been refurbished - is it because the 4 govts involved could not agree on how to split the cost or just deemed to be too expensive?
Hi. Thanks for making this helpful videos. Is there any direct train that arrives to Amsterdam departing from Germany? I think Frankfurt is direct but I'm unsure. Thanks.
Frankfurt is direct to Amsterdam, its also how i published this video. Apart from that you I'll find one daytime ICE train from Basel, serving towns like Karlsruhe and Mannheim to Amsterdam. And there are intercity trains between Amsterdam and Berlin, also serving towns like Osnabrück and Hannover on top of that you'll find sleeper trains to Switzerland and Austria via Germany. One of these sleeper trains is a combined intercity and sleeper train in one so it serves more towns. And changing trains isn't scary at all either.
@@Trainviking thank you very much, your comments and videos have helped me to clear all confusion, the trip looks lovely. So I'm travelling in an ICE next week. Looking forward to it! Thanks a lot for the contents.
I'm not answering these kind of questions, rules might change per moment. I'm more than happy to try to answers about the train, route, fares, etc. But for this, please inform yourself via the official websites.
@@Trainviking what about minors? Lets say a 15 year old wants to travel to the netherlands, as far as I know Germany to Netherlands is pretty straight forward

Fijn om naar te kijken maar neem soms even rust met praten,je gaat zo snel met je informatie dat we de helft niet horen zodat we nog een keer moeten kijken.

I took the route from Koln to Utrecht nearly 5 times, its really iconic
Lekkere informatieve video weer! Ga zo door.

I was looking for info on train vs taking a plane.

Do you have to go through customs when arriving in Amsterdam?

The refurbished seats are worse. So not too bad that they don’t get refurbished.

Hello! Could you help me with my doubt:
Do those trains (ICD, IC, ICE) accept large suitcases (22kg) in second class?
Of course you van take that, it's not a plane. Check
www.bahn.com/en/trains/luggage to see more details.
Do we need to reserve a seat in this train??
It's very recommended to reserve a seat, although it's not obligated.
Will they ask you if your vaccinated before taking the train to the Netherlands?

What about the luggage
You can't take your wife on as hand luggage, she needs a ticket.
For regular luggage, as much as you can normally carry yourself.
@@Trainviking our seats are 33 and 35
In carrage 38 .. are we ok ?
why do you not make the title english
Of you have your computer set to Dutch you will see it in Dutch. That's called the magic or the internet.

Very Bad experience in the this train
Amsterdam to Frankfurt train ice 159
Many pickpocket in this area in Netherlands
Bag stolen every time
Really? I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm just sorry that the conductors don't help you at all if you need urgent help.
My experience is different when it comes to this.
