It's important to notice that while you were lucky with the punctuality of that particular train, FlixTrain isn't immune to the problems of the German railway system as the cause of those is the crumbling infrastructure - the same infrastructure both DB and FlixTrain run on.

    • @JackRoaming
      @JackRoaming  4 месяца назад +2

Agreed. The DB delays generally come from the network which is overcrowded.

Excellent review! Doesn't seem all that bad, especially considering the price.

Thanks, yes the price/quality ratio is pretty decent.

I used Flixtrain in august between Berlin and Hamburg. All went very well, leaving on time, arriving on time for €20.

I have taken ICE only. It was so badly crowded that I could not even got to my reserved seat. Had to stand all way (or I could be impolite and try to make a way to my seat through the train). That Flix train seems like a good alternative.

I have taken ICE a few times and it has been quite empty. Each time I travelled at night for the best price, so that's why. I checked Flixtrain Berlin to Frankfurt just now and it's giving me a similar price to ICE, around 50 euros, so I don't know why I wouldn't take the ICE. If it was only 10 euros as said in the video, that would be a good reason to take the Flixtrain.

I like Flixtrain. It’s cheap and solid. For small rides, I love it. You have an included seat, enough space for luggage and a nice customer support. I have done more than 10 rides with flixtrain already. Once we had a lateness of about 40 minutes. At the next day I got a 5€ voucher without complaining from me. From DB you get 25% of the usury price after an lateness of 60 minutes and you have to apply for your money. And the personal is much nicer than on DB trains.
    Great video! Keep this up.

I travelled on a flixbus from Zurich to Frankfurt at a very very low fare. Your story about flixtrain is also good. Budget travellers are definitely benefitted! Thanks for the good coverage!!!

Thanks for the video! I live in China and trains always on time and go 300 km/h. But hey I don't care about comfort😊 I'll take the train from Berlin to Dresden on the summer - €4! 😎

Due to the Deutsche Bahn strike I had to take the Flix train from Berlin to Cologne. It really wasn’t bad at all. It cost me €52 and it arrived on schedule. I had heard bad things about this company but decided to try it after watching your video. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again

I used it a couples of times and it was alright. Like Ryanair you get what you pay for and you pay little. I know some people though who had delays of 4 hours and / or their trains got cancelled one day in advance. So if you got an important appointment like you need to catch a flight, I wouldn't rely on them.

Those trains do indeed have plugs, underneath the seats. I suppose if you do not know, you will not notice them. 😅
There were recently incidents with some of those plugs, apparently some #@$#% person tampered with the outlets, put a short wire in it, so when you try to plug something in (and you can not really see the outlet, because of it's semi hidden location) you may get an electric shock 😡, so it is best to visually inspect it first, get down on your knees.

if u want speed or quality take an ICE if u dont have money, take this ...
Its totaly fine, i never used it myself but my mum uses it twice a year and she says the worst thing is that the DB fuckes tehm over with not showing their delays and rest is fine xD

5:18 There should actually be a regular plug and two USB-A power outlets in between the seats.

Your US ticket price for a 4 hour journey is way off. The only long haul train service we have is Amtrak and it’s not even high speed. A trip from NYC to Washington DC or Boston is roughly 4 hours and can cost $50 or more.

Bro he converts euros into dollars to show the Flixtrain price in USD for American viewers. Has nothing to do with prices in the US.

There's no US version of Flixtrain, SNCF OuiGo or UK Lumo. Only non Amtrak rail travel options are commuter rail in the Northeast, Chicago, California and certain other cities and states. And Brightline between Miami and Orlando. None of these are truly cheap.
Amtrak occasionally offers super low fares to fill seats.

Haha, another smart-ass... he has been to plenty of "third world countries" and taken trains there. By the way, "third world" means "non-aligned." It is a term from the Cold War that makes absolutely no sense today. Japan was also part of the "third world" back then. But I wouldn't expect you to know anything about history...
