I have an order for a Jennie and also invested. My ESA is 13 years old now and I dread her passing. With Jennie I won't have to endure that again. Thank you for inventing this much needed companion.

Those tips are very helpful, please let us know when you are releasing the walking version

Cleveland Clinic? That's where the main doctor that deals with my Aneurysm of the IVC works! I gave to travel there about every 3 months. I wish I had this dog to accompany me when I fall asleep during the travels to/from there.

@Tombot are you thinking about making it to stand up, walk, etc. ?
Maybe not this prototype, but a new prototype

I hope they make some after that can walk but this seems so cool

I feel it’d be a little complicated, and even more pricey to make a furry robot capable of walking decently. Also to walk while being aware of its environment, it would need space for certain sensors, and the fur does complicate things. But it would be pretty interesting.

@@Aibodogs I agree but they did tell me on Facebook they are considering it after they work on this one

@@techworldlover Oo! I’d love to see them actually try, it would be so interesting to see the progress and how it would work! It would have to have good balance like an aibo so it doesn’t fall, while being able to walk around covered in fur and still looking realistic! They should consider allowing it to self right itself if it does fall over too. At that point the price would definitely go up quite a bit, especially if they implement new sensors well so it can be aware of its environment and walk around with ease, but it would be very cool to see!

On the wait list for one for my mom. I also have a sibling in a mental health facility and wondering if they have been tried in that type environment.

@@StapyfromBFB_OfficialAUTTP2640 I’m not involved with Jennie but heard they’re thinking of making a model that walks in the future. Right now it would be a tripping hazard for their current target demographic and would be quite expensive compared to the current price. Look at Sony Aibo’s price, which wasn’t made to look and move just like the real thing. A walking Jennie would need all sorts of sensors and to walk around under FUR without falling, getting stuck or overheating. It would need to accurately detect obstacles and be pretty complex to still seem like the real thing. There’s greater potential for problems due to the weight it’ll put on the legs. Batteries for example are pretty heavy! And with the power it would consume it would need one that lasts a decent amount of time. Even Aibos aren’t without problems. 110s had knee issues, 210s had faulty head clutches, 311s and 7s can have their hips slip, even 1000s had hip dislocations… these are fancy robot dogs I’m talking about. With Jennie there’d be a lot to think about with it meant to replicate a real dog. I know a goal is Jennie being affordable and with their target demographic it makes sense they’re focused on releasing Jennie like this.
