What a couple of intelligent, well rounded and fun young women. It’s lovely to see them sit down, talk and get to know them a little. They have my respect.
I’m happy for them that they realize gymnastics doesn’t define them. They have so much more life to live and experience. To laugh and cry and love and grieve. It’s a wild ride. ❤❤❤ good luck to both!
How can anyone hate Laurie she genuine, bubble you can literally tell that she's someone that lights of every room she enters, i want to be her friend so bad.
Two of the best gymnasts ever! I absolutely love their style and precision. Aly is an icon on floor-- I mean that opening pass?? And Laurie was a firecracker and her beam was excellent!
I've looked up to Aly for years, love both her and Laurie. I'm so glad they are doing work towards normalizing mental healthcare. I hope to see more of them in whatever they choose to do next.
I remember one of the NBC commentators literally during the live coverage of the Rio games suggesting that Aly should go to Tokio The 2016 games were not even over and he already made them seem as not enough
I’ve literally been binge watching gymnastics videos today and this popped up in my recommended. I was confused why there was no comments and just now realized that this was just uploaded 😂
I would have loved this to be longer. (Also, I've never seen an interview where the interviewer was needed less 🤣 No offence to her-she was fine-but they just went with it and talked)
@@megrobs11 It's so lovely. It's funny, I used to interview tons of elite gymnasts in the past, and back then most of them were so media trained (and the gym environment so tense) that very few felt free to really talk in interviews. It's so lovely seeing them older and open and reflective. Loved it.
Interesting they both felt people were questioning their Olympic achievements when they were asked if they were going back for another one. But, they were such awesome gymnasts I wanted to know if I'd get to seem them compete at the next Olympics. I suspect that was the intent behind asking them that - take it as a marker of your success, not anything else. 🥰
Probably because most gymnasts and serious gymnastics fans know that attempting to go to another Olympics in gymnastics after years away from the sport is nearly impossible. One week off from training and you almost have to start all over from the beginning. It’s nothing like other sports where things can just be picked back up easily.
to be fair, intent is not the same as impact. just because someone MAY have intended it in a good way doesn't change the fact that it impacted someone in a negative way. the intent doesn't make it better, it doesn't heal the hurt or the pressure they were under. and the fact of the matter is, in this case, the intent doesn't matter because the harm came from being constantly asked over and over by dozens, if not hundreds, of people. does that make sense?
For me, it wasn’t because I felt what they did wasn’t good enough. I would have asked them because I absolutely love them and enjoy the heck out of their gymnastics and seeing them compete.
Why did I think she was born in ‘92. I remember the first games everyone was calling her the older of the group. I thought she was older by 3 years. I’m only a year younger 95er. She’s turning 30 too in a couple days😭 95 kids this is our last full year anyway
Laurie still has some guns. Arm wrestle? I'll pass. But seriously. These two ladies are my favorite gymnasts. I miss seeing Aly's floor routine. She exhibits a flowing elegance especially her first pass. One of my favorite memories of Laurie was the "I got this" moment just before she did her beam exercise. Both of these ladies are very articulate and honest. Wish nothing but the best for their life going forward.
Aly xenia!!!
Thank you OSU for giving these two women share their experiences in the limelight and how they have moved forward in their lives.

Yes and they are mediocre gymnast
Mental health is very important that’s one of my struggle and I love them.

I am glad to , because they would be defined as poor
Two incredible women. ❤
Such an enlightening interview w/2 of the great athletes of all time.
How can anyone hate Laurie she genuine, bubble you can literally tell that she's someone that lights of every room she enters, i want to be her friend so bad.
Always loved both of them. Two incredible and talented young women. I wish them a life of happiness, love and laughter.

Such a delightful interview

So many parts of this interview has helped me tremendously with the struggles I face today! Thank you Aly & Laurie for your light ♥️
Hi, Laurie Hernandez and Aly Raisman from Olympics Gymnasts.
That was a great insightful interview,
I loved watching these two compete. I’m so glad to see they are doing well.
I’ve literally been binge watching gymnastics videos today and this popped up in my recommended. I was confused why there was no comments and just now realized that this was just uploaded 😂

Aly is one of my favorites from all times, and Laurie is amazing and a sweatheart :)
Great interview.
Love this conversation so much! I definitely took away the advice they were given especially you just have to deal with your nerves
ally your a good counselor
Great interview!
I would have loved this to be longer. (Also, I've never seen an interview where the interviewer was needed less 🤣 No offence to her-she was fine-but they just went with it and talked)
As the interviewer, I felt the same way! They had such great chemistry!
That’s a good interviewer though! Sometimes the interviewer interrupts too much and doesn’t let the conversation flow naturally.
