    We visited the ÄSS BAR several times while in Luzern in September and loved it. If possible go in the morning as you will have more choices. Then cross the street and find a bench and enjoy the beautiful lake.
    The Manor Cafeteria is very good, we enjoyed having breakfast there. You get to choose 6 breakfast items and a cappuccino for 6.90 CHF per person.
    We also had pizza at the DISCO PIZZA and we enjoyed it as well.
    Thank you Jana and Brett for the new restaurants suggestions. Will these restaurants be added to the Lucerne guide? Your 1 week Jungfrau Region guide helped us have a wonderful trip.

    Thanks for all the recommendations! There's so many great and interesting places to eat and drink in Luzern. One note: as of May 2024, the Gutsch funicular is under renovation, so you'll need to take the free shuttle van (or walk) to access the Chateau. And definitely go for that drink or coffee later in the day. Not the 44 CHF breakfast buffet that we got suckered into. The view is amazing, though!😅

    I absolutely love your videos! I’ve been watching them to prep for my trip to Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. As frequent travelers, what are some tips you have for people who don’t speak the language and don’t want to appear rude when ordering food? Other than learning common phrases are there any other suggestions you may have! Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!

      We're glad you enjoy our videos! One of the best things you can do is learn how to greet people in the local language and then say in their language, "I'm sorry, I don't speak _______. Do you speak English?" Whenever we have done that, we've almost always found kind helpful people who were grateful we even tried!

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  Год назад

      We think you will enjoy Lucerne! It can get expensive so it's a good idea to think about how you want to spend your money when you're there. Are there certain attractions/activities that you're wanting to do? How often do you want to eat at a restaurant vs getting take away from a grocery store? Thinking through some of these things could help you go into your trip knowing your going to spend some money but confident in how you're spending it! We hope you have a fun birthday trip!

    Will be visiting Lucerne next week and somehow trying to cross over Landwasser Viaduct near Filisur. Both Jana and Brett come across as a very friendly couple. If I ever did meet them in person, I would invited them both for a coffee or a beer. Certainly going to visit Rathaus, Gruezi Cafe and Two Hands. Thanks for any helpful advice ahead of what will my 2nd time in Lucerne because I was lucky to visit on a daytrip with my employer back in December 2018. Switzerland won me over that day because I initially didn't fancy visiting Switzerland. I told my boss that and the fact I wanted to return one day and he asked 'why don't I?', and replied that I would make it happen one day.

    We live in Seattle, WA and are planning a December trip to Germany (Berlin & Nuremberg) the Vienna and then Zurich. Every city I have allotted five days with a couple days in Frankfurt (where we're flying into and out of) and a couple days in Hamburg just to take the day trip to Ludwig's Castle. Would we be better off cutting out two days in Zurich and opt for a stay in Lucerne instead of taking a day trip from Zurich?

    Just watched your train video (again) as I prepare for a 20 day stay in Switzerland with most of it just outside Zurich doing a pet sit. Great stuff in your videos but I think my brain exploded reviewing the train options!
    One suggestion... there's a big story in the Washington Post on November 7, 2023, "Opinion Countless kids are colorblind - and don’t know about it. Here’s how to help." reviewing how many people (almost all men) are red-green collorblind. Basically, it's about 1 out of 12 men and 1 out of 200 women.
    I'm one of those colorblind men and when I downloaded your spreadsheet I wondered why there were just two colors. Only after I looked very, very, very carefully did I see the red and green differences! It appears there is also yellow. If there are more colors, I can't see them nor can many people like me. I didn't see a legend explaining what the different colors mean.
    So, in the future for the 1 out of 12 men like me, please don't use red and green to differentiate things as we probably won't see any differences! Thanks!

    Do you ever see any plant-based cheese? For the viewers that can’t or don’t do dairy. Also, it would be amazing if you could go to the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Europe if you’re in Zurich!

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  Год назад +1

      Since we’re not vegetarians, we’ve not specifically looked for plant-based alternatives to fondue. However, a lot of restaurants now have their menus online so you could check there! Hope that helps!! 🙂

      You can buy vegan cheese at the large supermarket-chains Migros and Coop - they even offer vegan Raclette and vegan Fondue. If it's worth it? I don't know, I never tried it. ;-) And according to Google, a few restaurants in Lucerne even offer vegan Fondue.
