    Things like this are supposed to be inspiring but it makes me want to give up on life. Imagine having all of that responsibility. I’m overwhelmed just looking at her. Kudos to her.

      I think that's what makes it inspiring though. She's not telling us we all have to have the same level of responsibility in what we do, but she's just showing us how she manages to do the things she loves :)
      I hope you are doing or soon find the thing(s) that makes you happy!

    Y know, we’re a family of 8 (obviously that’s less than 12 😅) but a lot of the stuff looks kinda familiar to me…like 64$ for ice cream…we don’t eat out a lot for that very reason. Everyone is specific abt what they want and it’s almost always around 50-100$. It was just interesting to read in the comments how supposed ppl were abt the proce of groceries etc., and I never rlly thought abt it, but we do spend a lot on food and stuff bc we go thru it so quick. Idk, just thoughts lol. Thx for listening if you made it this far 🙂

      …i saw very few vegetables here. I think maybe 10 in the entire video. And lots of the things she sends and feeds for lunches arent actually that healthy because theyre so processed. I get that she is likely on a budget and therefore is doing what she can to make it stretch. But what shes showing us arent balanced healthy meals with the exception of many of her dinners. Uncrustables, lunchables, packaged cookies, chips, sugary cereal, and things like that arent real food.

    As someone who’s apart of a family of 13 it’s really not that crazy. We all work really hard together to clean up, make food, etc. We have a system in our house. It works so well that both of our parents are able to work. Our mom works from home so she’s able to help us in an emergency but most of the time the oldest ones babysit the youngest. We all make are own breakfast in the morning (most times it’s cereal) for lunch are school district provides free food due to the impacts of COVID in our area, and lastly we all just take turns making dinner. On the weekends we all spend family time together. Since there’s a lot of us we have to make small changes in are life style compared to others. For instance we have screen time restrictions. We get screen time very other day for an hour but on school nights we only get educational screen time.
    If you have any questions about my family you can ask I’d be happy to answer.
    Ps the reason my family’s so big is because my parents do foster care. 7 of us including me were adopted by them, the rest our their biological kids.

    I honestly would get so paranoid and anxious if I was her kid over how much food I’d consume, if that makes sense. I was raised in a house with just my parents and me, and we still struggled to always have a stock of food (especially food that wasn’t canned), so from very young, I became very conscious of how much I would eat, and felt bad if I ate more than I absolutely needed. Like the amount they have to spend on food freaks me out, and I know for a fact I’d opt out on almost all snacks or “unnecessary” food items because of that. Absolutely no shade to her, just a realization of sorts for how I grew up and how it is light years away from this family

      Relate to this so much, I remember my brother and I eating peanut butter sandwiches, ramen, or hot dogs and craft Mac and cheese daily and even then I was constantly worried about how stressed out my mom was, and didn’t want to eat too much to add to her grocery bills. Going to my grandparents house was always the most exciting part of the week because they fed us so much & had real meals

    • @KatBambi
      @KatBambi 2 года назад +5

      @@MaddieKinsss exactly, like I wouldn’t call it food insecurity exactly, but it was like a constant awareness of how much you as a person cost, I guess? It was an awareness of every time I wanted or needed something, be it food or things, I would debate with myself internally whether I needed this truly, or if I just wanted it, and while that’s a good skill to have as you grow older, having to do that with food as a kid is really hard, and it doesn’t just go away later on.

    As someone from the northeast wegems is awesome but literally pretty expensive to shop in sometimes, and you can't usually buy as much stuff in bulk as say Costco, BJs or Sam's club. Idk where she's at but pricerite and aldis is where I try to get most things, but I'm also not 12 people, but still might be cheaper if she's not shopping at a bulk store to begin with. I'm sure she has her reasons though, the quality is unmatched even to whole foods and trader Joe's, especially for the price, it's pricy but not crazy crazy expensive for the quality. And the shopping experience is usually nice too. Okay done talking, whish them the best.

    I was in a family of nine (including all parents) it’s very stressful and people don’t get one on one attention like you need. My stepbrother (raised together since he was 5) always got over looked by the parents except his bio dad because he was quite.
    I would actively hide away form two of my parents bc of abuse.I can only imagine about 9 children (I think that’s the right number of adoptive kid she has) who all have ptsd and trauma form foster care who each have two bio parents,Bio siblings/bio families that you have to coordinate with I think two or three of her children are bio but like the rest are adopted that can’t be easy. Like actively interacting with that many people and organizing all of that has to be stressful

      Thanks for being honest about your experience because I’ve seen some comments on here that make it seem like large families are all sunshine and rainbows, and that is far from the truth. Both of my parents are from large families (mom 10 and dad 13 siblings ), and it’s really not an ideal situation for most people, especially for the kids who are usually tasked with the burden of maintaining the family such as the eldest basically parenting the younger kids, not enough food, not enough one-on-one time with mom and dad, etc. It truly takes a special kind of person to successfully handle a large family and make sure everyone’s physical and emotional needs are met.

      Way more balanced than my families meals growing up 😅 she puts fruits meats n veggies in almost every meal. Had to beg my parents to buy any fruit n we’d only really eat tons of veggies in the summer bc we grow n jar a lot of produce. One consistent thing was meat I guess but that’s the worst part aha I don’t really like a lot of meat 🤣 that parts on me tho

      Wym? These meals look pretty balanced to me, and she offers good variety. Sure she uses pre-made stuff in addition to fresh, but with 12 mouths to feed you can’t expect her to make everything from scratch.

    The comments in this section are EXTREMELY negative. I checked the source and it turns out that this is from tick tock, I don't subscribe to tick tock; interestingly, this showed up on my RUclips feed. 🤔 The Dougherty Dozen family is a lesson on UNCONDITIONAL and SACRIFICIAL LOVE. Meaning, giving of oneself WITHOUT the expectation of receiving something in return. Giving WITHOUT reservation and knowing/understanding that the "love" may or may not be reciprocated. I would encourage ALL OF YOU who commented NEGATIVELY to place yourself in the realm of selfless acts, words and behavior towards others. Try living ONE WHOLE WEEK - WITHOUT - NEGATIVELY impacting another. Keep a journal throughout this one-week. Watch yourself grow - in a number of areas! This is what the world needs TODAY! SELFLESS ACTS OF KINDNESS AND LOVE TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER! TODAY'S society is TOO - INDIVIDUALISTIC and NOT ENOUGH COMMUNITY ORIENTED.
