Rainy Day Planting Peas and Brassica Starts into the Garden

- I'm taking an opportunity between spring rains to get a few more things planted into my raised bed vegetable garden. Join me as I plant pea seeds and cole crops that I started inside and now need to plant out.
I grow flowers and vegetables in Saskatchewan, Canada. My cold hardiness zone is zone 4. I have an average of 110 frost free growing days each year. The past few years have seen our temperatures go as low as -37C (-34.6F) to as high as 37C (98.6F). Come see what and how I grow in these conditions.

I stopped growing my sugar snap peas. When the vines were already about 3 feet tall, some animal came along and snipped the stems two inches off the ground. Next year, I fenced them off with chicken wire, but the baby rabbits found a small gap in the neighbour's fence and had a feast. The following year, I decided to plant them in hanging baskets with little teepees made of bamboo sticks to support the vines. The squirrels managed to jump down off the wooden fence, that they use as their "highway", and dug out my peas plants out of the hanging basket. Long story short, I gave up the fight.
The critters can certainly take the joy out of some plants.
