  • In this video I will show you how I set up drip irrigation in my raised garden beds and I will plant out my pepper plants. I grew 10 varieties of peppers to plant in my garden this year.
I grow flowers and vegetables in Saskatchewan, Canada. My cold hardiness zone is zone 3b. I have an average of 110 frost free growing days each year. The past few years have seen our temperatures go as low as -37C (-34.6F) to as high as 37C (98.6F). Come see what and how I grow in these conditions.

This is our 2nd year of using Rainbird drip. After we repaired a couple nips I made at harvest time we got 5” of rain last week 😂. We only had 3.5” all summer last year, but I hope the drought is over.
It works pretty well and I need to call the co and ask what is the capacity of emitters per zone. I may have to clean a few with air compressor while running out the end because I have a slow line or too many emitters.
I decided to use more on/off valves also and create a manifold with 1/2” solid tube with 1/4” in straight lines through bed. So I still have some tweaking to do, but I will say it has made a huge difference. I was concerned about mice also and pulled the lines up and tied on a post.
Lol, been working between storms also and I won’t complain as the drought was severe.
😂we gave several flats to a friend for their church allotment garden-they are still planting. I still have a few tomatoes and many flowers and looks much like your lot. The heat will kick in this weekend and more rain so I need to get as much planted and sowed as possible.
Your peppers were sturdy! Ya know, I’m with you on pruning veg. I see so many do that yet, some who use to have changed their mind on pinching peppers as it doesn’t help produce more. If you get more they will be smaller. I tried that pruning thing with tomatoes once and ended up with sunburned fruit. I don’t have time to keep up with cutting suckers. I trim where and when needed for air flow.
Well gotta get back to it as I need a little shade for some newly planted flowers that aren’t liking that harsh sun. Happy gardening.

The colour of your new drip line is better than the black and belnds in with the soil.
Your weather is better than mine in the UK, it's rained every day on and off for 2 weeks, day and night. Last night we saw the sun at 7PM, what the heck use is that. I think it may be a bad year here.

I try to appreciate the rain as it has been so rare here for years. It’s good for us to have a damp start to the season. Hopefully you get some good sunshine soon. Rainy days on end can get tiring.

You can always throw frost blanket, old sheets, boxes, etc over them if you are worried about the cold. All but the frost blanket should be removed when the sun is up.
