Colin Cowherd has called for USC to hire Chris Petersen as the new general manager. USC cannot allow Emmanuel Pregnon to leave the program. We must retain him.
Petersen absolutely hated where college football was headed when he stepped away…and we all no where it’s gone the last couple years. Old coaches aren’t the answer. Guys that are successful at it like Malchow at Oregon, are not “old” or coaches.
You guys are absolutely right, SC is losing way too many key players, while other schools with limited budgets are not, something has to be done. This is ridiculous.
If the players are getting NIL money, they should be required to sign a minimum two-year contract. They're basically playing in a minor NFL league now.
Why can't they do that right now? "We can offer you $2 million at $1 mil per season, give you X amount up front ($500,000), and the rest will be paid monthly and/or in an escrow account"
I agree, next man up! I like Hayden Treter lining up next to Elijah Paige, then OConner at Center, with Alani Noa and Tobias Raymond at the right side. Justin would be a plug in back up at either side, along with Micah Banuelos the second plug and play piece. Coach up the other kids.

Recruits, current players on the roster, portal players, parents they all use USC to build their leverage in negotiations with all schools involved. I can't blame the players the rules to the game need to change.
This it’s really frustrating knowing those guys are on the roster and don’t actually care about the logo on their helmet at all just the amount of leverage they can create. I kind of respect Riley for playing hard ball because at some point you have to draw a line and let a player test their market value and come back to reality. If a player thinks they’re hot sh*t and end up at Texas Tech or Boise State it just goes to show the demand isn’t what they expected and USC was right in not overpaying them. It’s a really difficult and precarious place to be trying to build a roster because when you re-negotiate with one guy and overpay them other guys see that and try to follow their lead (a la Bear Alexander) and it quickly becomes unsustainable. I think what you’re seeing is a lot of players saw Bear leverage this coaching staff and are trying the USC for extra money but Riley has learned from his mistake with Bear and is calling their bluff. Hence the portal entries. It sucks but ultimately I think he’s doing the right thing. The only time I want to see USC overspend is on an elite QB or LT like you would expect in an NFL draft. Most other positions are fairly replaceable.
Pregnon would not be in the transfer portal if Henson had not left the program. The real big question with USC is whether the coaching on the offensive side of the ball is good or is there a problem? Once we get our linebacker coach in place, the defensive staff is great.
