I stayed at Sapphire Falls for my 40th birthday in May 2022 and it was absolutely fantastic!! The room, vibe, staff, everything was great! Easily the best part for me was the water taxi to the parks. It was so insanely convenient and quick! Also super close walking distance to Volcano Bay.
I had absolutely zero interest in Universal until I started watching Mammoth Club and now I'm obsessed (don't tell the other park....)
Universal Hotels are so brand new to me as someone who stays on Disney property more often. Sapphire Falls looks gorgeous with so many lovely offerings, and the rum bar is totally up my alley.
I feel like moderate priced resorts at Universal offer more than their Disney counterparts 😊

One of the greatest pro tips of all time... Book 1 night at a premier category resort to get 2 days of unlimited express passes. And change resorts for the remainder of the stay to save money.

Yes I agree with you. We did that on our last trip. We stayed at Hard Rock for a few days and then on our checkout day we switched resorts to Surfside and stayed a night but still used our Express all day that last day. 😊
Amatista Cookhouse at night for a dinner date is a better vibe and more food variety than breakfast. Its nice to get dressed up, linger over a meal, and walk out to the waterfall from the dining room.

I was going to note this as well. BE ADVISED THAT THIS LEVEL DOES NOT GET YOU THE EXPRESS PASS. Royal Pacific *does.*
One thing I always find Most charming about Alan and Molly is that they just always Amuse each other So much…(as one half of a fairly successful 35-year plus marriage, this is a Vital component to a happy life together!)
Those shrimp are the best thing I’ve ever eaten at a theme park! I think about them fondly and often.
After watching a video that Molly did at Portofino in the past, we booked there and LOVED it! Great food, beautiful resort, express pass, boat, it really had it all. I would go back in a minute! This looks nice, but the express pass was awesome!
We stayed here a few years ago. We loved it! Boat service to the parks was so convenient!

I stayed at Cabana Bay but walked across the street and checked out Sapphire Falls and absolutely loved it! Strong Water Tavern was my favorite restaurant/bar. After checking out from Cabana, my friend and I hung out at the Sapphire lobby until we had to go to the airport because it's so beautiful.
I really like the looks of the Universal resorts. I don't really want to go to the parks except maybe to see Harry Potter stuff so I can see maybe going a day before a WDW trip and staying at one of them and just doing an afternoon/evening at Universal. I can't ride roller coasters or most 3D rides so that means most of the rides would be a no go for me.
I'm a Midwesterner and have been swimming in cold water all my life, so I would be one of the hearty souls out at the pool when it's 60 degrees. 😂

I looooooovvvvve Sapphire Falls. It's my favorite of all UO resorts. I really think it should be a premier resort.
Would love to see you guys stay at the Hard Rock Hotel - that's my top pick for when I visit next.
I normally frequent the Wave Hotel in Lake Nona.
I had a stay at Sapphire Falls last year. The property is nice and has a lot of amenities but the room, even with the lagoon view, left a lot to be desired.
Also, the pool has food/drink service and is open pretty late which is a plus but unfortunately the pool isn’t heated.
Am I the only one that does laundry on vacation?😂
The hotel looks gorgeous but I would be hanging out at the Strong Water Tavern. Love to test the rum and those tapas!

We tend to unpack and use the drawers if we are staying in the same room for more than two nights.

We were going to stay there last month for the first time but had to cancel 😢. We got a great rate through UOAP, so that's something worth mentioning as well.
Please do a stay at Aventura next!!
The price differential between Sapphire Falls and the Premier resorts can vary a lot. My wife & I will be staying at Universal for four nights in June. In the past, we've stayed at Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific, in part to get the Express Passes. But this time, we've booked Sapphire Falls because quicker access to the rides isn't a big deal to us now. I'm not even sure how many days we may spend in the parks this time. SF looks to be just about as nice as RP; the main difference is the lack of Express Passes. And the cheapest rate at any Premier resort would be literally twice as much as the rate we're getting at SF! I think the rates at the Premier resorts are rising during peak seasons to better reflect what Uni considers to be the value of the included Express Passes, which after all can cost $300+ per person per day if purchased separately. So if you really don't care about Express, there's no reason to absorb all that extra expense. SF in our case is the smarter choice this time.

I love the Polynesian Hotel but haven’t been able to stay there in years because of the price 😂, I think sapphire falls is my #1 if staying on Universal Property and not willing to spend an enormous amount.
You should do a stay cation at fort wilderness. I hear the place is beautiful and huge. You could spend a day there alone.
As far as I'm aware, bed covers in hotels are rarely washed or sent to laundry services. All sorts of things like unlean luggage or clothing from people jumping to lay on a new bed etc can contaminate the bed covers. It makes me cringe each time Allan lays face down on the bed covers.

I always stay at Aventura and go to Sapphire Falls to take the boat to the parks. Short walk, no busses, no massive security lines at CityWalk
Alan's reaction to "crevices" made me laugh a lot harder than it should have.

We no longer stay at any of the Loew’s hotels after a series of terrible experiences last year. Convenient locations for sure but don’t have good value for the price.
Does this hotel have a time limit on how long your dog can be in the room unattended? Like Disney is 7 hours but many pet friendly hotels won’t allow you to leave them alone in the room. I travel solo often to Disney resorts with my pup and would like to try a Universal hotel too.
If Alan is so into S'mores, you guys gotta visit Dollywood (you know Max would approve!) and stay at the DreamMore (or probably the newer resort as well), because they have a complimentary smores thing every night around the fire!
Out of interest are the eggs EGGS? Or are they the powdered/liquid bulk yolks? The whole hotel looks lovely.
When we stayed at Universal in 2022 for a couple of nights after our Disney World trip we chose the Royal Pacific because you get the Ultimate Express pass (beautiful resort!) .We did first choose the Sapphire doing the math, it made more sense for being in the parks for just 2 days. Our room was exactly the same as the one you are showing at the Sapphire (we had a pool/park view though) which we found for the money to be very small and tight - smaller we thought than what your get at a Moderate resort at Disney. Then again, at Disney we had a huge family suite at the Dolphin which made the Royal Pacific room seem even smaller.
I Laughed out loud about the ducks from Kansas! I would love to fly to Florida like them from Kansas our wind chills are anywhere from -15 to -21 the next 4 days…boooo!🥶👎🏻

Fun story: we stayed at this hotel once and within 2 hours of getting there my mom missed the last step on the stairs in that stone stairwell and ruptured her Achilles tendon lol place was still really nice though. We still had a great time 👍🏻
I’ve never stayed at a universal hotel so I enjoyed seeing this video. I loved seeing you guys play the dinosaur game that was awesome! I love that this hotel has a menu for the pets 😂also I LOVE Balto, that was one of my favorite childhood movies.

Stayed at Portofino for the first time this past September and have been dreaming of making Sapphire Falls our next destination. I absolutely LOVE Loews hotels and can’t wait to stay at Stella Nova and Terra Luna in the not-so-distant future!
My daughter deemed the Dutch Trading companies' coffee the best and she walked from Cabana Bay every morning to bring it back for us. We also went to Amatista's because of your last review of it. SO good!!!

Where do you get your hair done? Im breaking the BANK at the current boutique I’m going to, maintaining my blonde (previous Brunette) and I’d love to get some suggestions.
The names Sapphire Falls and Dutch Trading Co suggest Indian Ocean island vibes but then Strong Water Tavern is Caribbean island vibes. And then Amatista, Spanish for amethyst which also found in Sri Lanka like sapphires, neither of which are found in the Caribbean. Theme seems a little scatter shot. I guess it’s a pan tropical island theme?
Thanks for this great review! I really want to try this hotel but we are only doing Disney World on my next trip to Orlando, staying at Caribbean Beach resort. I think the hotels are better value and quality at Universal, the rooms feel more modern. Royal Pacific is my favourite.

Nice enough tour, just can't get past that nail polish color. Not my favorite. I prefer the bright colors.

We stayed at the Adventura twice and there were ducks they both times, I think they live there.
We've stayed at Sapphire Falls only once, but we loved it. Absolutely LOVE Strong Water Tavern. We've gone back there even when staying at other on-site resorts.
Many tubers do WDW bar crawls. Does anyone do a Universal resorts bar crawl?
Reasons this resort is amazing...
1. Strong Water Tavern: An incredible lobby bar that focuses on rum cocktails and delicious tapas
2. Walking distance to Volcano Bay: Avoid the confusing bus system by taking the 4 minute walk alongside the Aventura hotel next door that puts you right at the entrance to the water park
3. Water-taxi: The least expensive Universal hotel that still offers boat transportation directly to the center of CityWalk, which avoids the chaos of security checkpoint at the hub
4. Starbucks: Although it is not branded as one, The New Dutch Trading Co. "Proudly Serves" all the typical Starbucks beverages
PRO-TIP: When booking or at check-in, request a room in Guest House 3. This wing of hotel is conveniently located close to both the water-taxi dock and the coffee shop.

I am a multi year Disney passholder who is leaving Disney in 2025 for Universal and Epic universe. My plans are to stay at Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls, and the yet unnamed in park EU hotel. So I’m very thankful for this video!

I LOVE Sapphire falls. When we are trying to be budget friendly, we book sapphire instead of portofino bay. Strong Water Tavern is so fun, but I have never been a fan of Amatista. It feels overpriced for the quality of food. You’re much better off eating at city walk or in the park.
Also the walk to Volcano Bay is surprisingly close! You just walk around the Adventura hotel and you are there, it probably takes about 5 mins.
I've watched soooo many of your staycation videos and have enjoyed them all but for some reason this staycation is my favorite! All the dining options look great. Now I'm hungry! My son (10yo) was especially impressed with the pizza pretzel.
Have done 2 separate 1-night stays at SF, each for HHN, and it was so great for that. Hope to make a longer stay there, and try out the pool and Strong Water. maybe this year.Thanks and really appreciate all the updated hotel reviews!!
We recently stayed at SF.. and i couldnt agree with literally everything you said hahhaa. While we had a great time, I would rather either save some money and stay at a Prime Value OR upgrade to Premier. But no matter what, I will be back at Strong Water Tavern again. We loved it. Ate there both nights we stayed.
The conveniences (compared against Disney resorts look tempting). Valet parking & Room Service should definitely be offered by Disney at the Deluxe level. Also poolside service & room delivery of all my Harry Potter merch. I really wish there'd be more voices lobbying for Disney to bring that back.
