  • Route 9 is one of the busiest bus routes operated by Edmonton Transit Service.
Introduced in 1975, this route has been revised numerous times before eventually becoming the juggernaut that it is today.
The Route 9 currently runs from Southgate LRT Station to Eaux Claires Transit Centre with a late night extension to Century Park LRT Station in the south after midnight when the LRT starts to shut down.
This route is part of the "Owl" series of overnight routes, which also includes the Routes 2 and 511 and operates up until about 3:30AM daily. There are two other routes that operate overnight, but they do not have the "Owl" branding.
This route was the first to use articulated buses, as those vehicles eventually replaced trolley buses on the 9 specifically, starting in June 2001. Articulated buses are no longer running on this route and have been replaced by 40 foot buses.
    Enjoy the show!

2:15 that must be a rare sighting now, since the 9 stopped using articulated buses.

It is. That clip was recorded shortly before the summer signup and was also my last recording of an artic on that route.

Does this route take you from Eaux Claires to Century Park?

It actually does, but the extension to Century Park only happens late at night and there's only a few trips in each direction that do so.

What is the fate of the Proterra buses since they went out of business? Will Edmonton keep them or sell them?

Some of the buses are still being used as long as they're operable. Most likely, they'll scrap them later on due to the issues that plague them.
