They look great. I really like the wheels. I use Pitbull tires and CI foams they are fantastic. My Pitbull tires preform better the more I use them. They have held up great for me. I have wanted to do a 1.9 to 2.2 stretch but have not done it yet. I will be when I get my SCX10 Dodge Ram build done. Great job and thank you for the video.
Thank you for the video. I got motivated and bought myself 2.2" rims and 1.9" tires to try this. Different tires, rims, and foam. I successfully got it installed, beads sit in perfect. But the wheel wiggles laterally too freely, it doesn't stay under the rim, any lateral force will either shift the tire from the rim far left or far right when facing the tire's tread pattern. I am not sure if its cause the rubber compound is too soft, my foam is too soft, or a combination of the two.
Richard, A piece of advice if you do this wheel/tire combo again. Spray the bead area of the tire with an aerosol dry silicon spray lubricant before trying to insert the wheels. The silicon allows the mounting to proceed much easier and then dries up. Also I found it easier to insert the rear portion of the wheel first. Finally, use the CI CWR-3014 Deuces Wild foam in place of the CWR-3005 used in the video. The 3014 is a 2.2 foam which eliminates the need to cut the ID while being the same OD as the 3005.
For this application, the goal was to use a larger wheel (2.2") to clear the knuckles of the A-Arms...and use a smaller height tire (1.9" wheel opening tire, but over all height of 4.55" tall). Most 2.2" tires are much taller
Yep, many have done this with the Baja Rey too. Not sure in the hubs....check with a guy named Shawn Rusin - he’s in the FB group for the RR and BR. He runs this set up on his Rey
Hi rich ! I just do the same thing as on your vid (it was tricky) but i have a problem : they are totally unbalanced. Hey Richard it's Gilbert again I have one more question I purchased the rear axle and lower links but for now I am going to run the stock wheels and tires with that combo would the SLW 225 work on all four corners eventually I'm going to get the vanquish wheels but for now just running the stock ones thanks again buddy
@@TheRCNetwork if you were to use 6s... Im asking because my bead locks always let go. Just a question since this wheel.and tire combo is 200 dollars lol
I'm sad, 2.2 inch wheels don't clear the knuckles on the Baja Rey. Meaning, I'm stuck with crappy short course plastic wheels that literally ONLY come in black which kinda pisses me off.
I like this idea but I am concerned that for a crawler this would be detrimental, maybe playing with the foam would be the key to getting some grip back ? ! hmmmnn
Please ,what & how do you determine/measure if wheel is 1.9 vs 2.2.I can tell my tires are "bigger" than the stock Honcho (orig spare) but when you measure the rim they are very similar. I want to get new 2.2 bead locks but I want to make sure I buy the right size. Thanks
1.9 of 2.2 is the diameter of the wheel only. Not every 1.9 or 2.2 tire is the same height. You're Honcho is optimized for 1.9" wheels and 1.9" sized tires. I have put 2.2" wheels on a Honcho before, but very small height 2.2" tires
Awesome, I have a TRX6 and there is a set of wheels that come in 2.2 only that I want to use on it, but no one except Traxxas makes that 4.64" tire, and they only sell it glued to wheels, now I have a solution !
Hi I'm also doing the same thing to my axial yeti trophy truck can you give me a list of your front suspension and rear suspension parts you have and also the SLW hubs you're running please thank you
You'll have to check out the videos. I have links to each part in the video description. As far as SLW's - if you run the SSD wide diamond rear axle...225's on all four corners....but you have to run these 1.2" wide wheels. 😂 have to laugh. I bought some beadlock rims for my Trophy Score from boom racing or GPM (can't remember). Stupid me not realising that the front was 2.2 & the rear 3.0 on the tyres. I bought anodised orange to match my theme, waited for them to come in and the rest of my hop ups and! You only get the 2.2 front, with a notched inner for the rear half of the rim. Now I could not find anything to join the rear and the front, full stop, yet alone going from 2.2 to 3.0. I sat on it for days, do I send the beadlocks back and just use the original rims, try and find something beadlock that is 2.2-3.0 and wait another couple of weeks? So much like you did I cut! the original rims 2.2 fake beadlock from the rim, then slipped in the alloy front half, fits perfect. So I have a fake beadlock front glued into the original orange kit rim and the tyre glued like a standard mount. Haven't tried my concoction to see if it will hold up but it looks good! It might have worked but it is also the harder way to do it, With the Lube he's suggesting, The rim will basically slide right in, No fighting it.
I love the videos keep up the great work
Thanks Racer!
it looks good
Thanks CRC!
I like the look of the 1.9 tires stretched on the 2.2 rims. Gives more of a beefier look and wider footprint!
Yep, I agree
Put a little soap or oil on the beads to ease the installation, and lining up the front and rear halves
For a bead lock, that wouldn't;t be good, especially when these tires are under power - they'll slip right out
Not in my years of experience. Soap is used in every tire shop, every day to mount tires on full sized vehicles, without issue.
Nice, what stiffness foams did you get, let us know how they do
They're the Deuce's Wild full closed cell foams

You can always go with a 4.75" 1.9 tire...there's hundreds of them and only a small difference in diameter
Whats the benefit of using 1.9 over 2.2 tires?
The over all size of the tire for the SCORE truck....and I needed the space on the inside of the 2.2" wheel
That looks about 10 times easier than installing too large a tire on a smaller wheel.
Very true!
On my score trophy truck the wheels are really hard to get off any solution
I noticed that too. I think the plastic hubs are just too tight. After several times replacing the wheels, it will work it's self out

Yes, you'll need SLW hubs, but you will need the stock widths, as I have modified axles. You should need 225 on the front and 725 on the rears
How do i get these on my slash? Thanks!
They won't work.....off set is off and the inside diameter of the wheel won't allow for the knuckles/Chubs to work
