- This video will take you from the plane, e-gates immigration, duty free Cancun, quick baggage, and then the dog sniffers and customs officers stopped a whole bunch of us and tore our bags apart. An hour later we went out into the bus/taxi/transportation area of the Cancun Airport in Cancun Mexico. I will show you where to get your money exchanged, rental cars, ADO bus, hotel shuttles, XPLOR and other adventure tickets.

The Cancun Airport had dogs sniffing all baggage and Customs Officers where going through almost everyone's baggage.

Talking abouyt security. In May 2023 I arrived thru Terminal 4 and the over reaching baggage search was in progress for everybody except families with kids. In Sep 2023 I arrived in Terminal 3 and aftr I collected my bags I walked straight out. They were not searching bags at all. Friends who arrived and the same day I did they went thru Terminal 4 and they were thoroughly searched.
The reason you got selected for security screening is you were filming. They did this to me last year. Turn your camera off unless you like to get searched.

In June, I have a layover in Cancun; on my way to Medellin. I hate, hate, hate to travel; but, your video calmed me down about circumventing the airport and boarding the ADO bus to the hotel. I take the bus in Colombia all the time and the ADO seems similar. Thx for taking the time to do that. Great, informative video . . . . .

So one big reason that you may have been searched was that you panicked and held back when you saw all the dos and officers. That is what security considers furtive action.

Thank you very much for this video. Very informative. I’m going to Mexico for the first time, and will be arriving before my family. It looks like there is food and drink available outside near the transportation which is relieving. I was worried about that. Is that the ‘meeting point’? I had read that this is a new feature they have?
Also, did you go into the mini market by chance? Just curious if there is food there, and fresh fruits and veggies you can buy? Thank you.

Awesome video thanks for being very detailed ! So were only some people directed to go through the inspection zone? It seems like some people kept walking straight. Were the dogs smelling only the people that kept walking straight or did they go over and smell you too after already being searched?

Do you (or anyone else) know if the "+180 Days" validity is required and will become an issue for us once at Cancun Immigration? We are staying just for 1-week vacation. Also, did anyone need to fill out "the FMM Form" for Mexican Immigration or is that a thing of the past?? Thanks for any info!
Well. security In the USA is even Worse….my bags in Miami took 40 min.. long lines on immigration…almost an hour .

I hear customs is charging an "electronic's fee" if you have more than one laptop. Is this true? Also, what about the FMM? is that paid when you buy the plane tickets online or is it paid at customs in Mexico (airport)?
Did you need fill out an FMM form? I have read that tourists (including Canadians) need to complete the tourist card ahead of arrival, but if arriving in Cancun (and some other busy Mexican airports) it is not required? Did you need to provide an FMM form either upon arrival or when coming home?
That is a good question. We didn't do any other forms that what you saw in the video. We haven't been home yet. We are here for a number of months. I'll let you know when we go home. Thank you for watching!

I am wondering what you do if you made travel arrangements and the driver is waiting.
The travel arrangements were waiting....... I think they just hang out all day and wait for the people to get off their planes. There are many flights coming from different parts of the world and they seem to have drivers on notice that they call when you get there. Good Luck! Thank you for watching!

When you're going through the red light/green light bag scan, do you have to go through a body scanner again as well?

Am I the only one that finds the concept of having to go through security and immigration to get INTO Mexico hugely ironic?
Once you land in Mexico are there any metal detectors that check your body? Or are there only checking peoples bags and not their persons?
Did they have you walk through scanners or check your body when they pulled you aside for a bag check?

Do you have to communicate with your transportation provider if you are delayed in the airport while they go through your luggage?
We didn't. But communication was difficult even when we were there in person. We might change to Canada Transfers or USA Transfers with the hopes that they speak english. Thank you for watching!

You can smoke or vape but not inside a restaurant.

Great info on the process but too bad the exaggerations like Gong show, Dogs all over you. and labouring the point how long it took. There were several people that went to the carousel and walked ahead of you and were not slowed down at all.
I would have shared this with lots of people but it’s too biased on problems that were essentially your own doing; Filming. Hanging back. Even your own explanation that you figured you would get through if you hung back. The staff did their job properly based on your actions.
