They were and still the best I have ever heard. Listened to the Haven of Rest radio program with a family that is gone now. How I miss sitting in the evening on the porch in the cool of the evening with John and his sweet smelling pipe tobacco.
This first song brought back the precious memory of my chldhood days (70+ years ago) when my father would turn on the radio every night to the “Haven of Rest” program before I go to sleep.
I've been listening to them thru dyvs since high school until now, a retiree. The strength of their voices are still the same, doesn't change with time. The Lord is with them. God bless this group.
This reminds me when I was a new convert, a new follower of Jesus Christ. Back in the early 1980's , in an old UPC church in Watsonville Ca. I cried a lot when listening to the haven of rest radio program then. Thanks for posting this.
The Haven of Rest program was still going strong when I was saved 50 years ago in Raleigh, NC! It was one of my favorites, part of the reason may have been that most of my childhood was spent in Annapolis, Maryland.....those were interesting days, around the corner from the Naval Academy, another era, so much more happy than our perilous times.
Oh this 1st song brings back sweet memories! I was a young adult, and rather new to my faith. I heard Haven of Rest one morning while traveling up the mountain to go figure skating. Every morning an hour in the car and i heard Pastor Ray talking then the Quartet singing. I was mesmerised. When i wud be at home, i wud listen AND record on tape Haven's songs. I have a number of songs on 2 cassettes. Im so afraid that one day they will break. Tapes are old. I was listening in the 90s. When Haven radio program retired i was sad. But alas, i have these 2 cassettes. I truly treasure them. I have recorded some great songs on them. Anyone Remember JOY COMES IN THE MORNING?? Or THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. Those are my absolute faves. Plus i have Anne and Ray on these tapes. Pretty fabulous huh?? And i still love my Jesus! HE owns my heart! 💖
Grew up really disliking the music of "Just as I Am". I think it was because of how it was used in those days. But when I first heard the Haven of Rest Guys arrangement of the song, I thought, what a nice job on this old hymn.

As a voice major and voice teacher, these recordings are phenomenal. We don't hear "trained" voices like these anymore. How sad.
