    I want to ask you that in my Undergrad college cirriculum we have to do a internship for 6 month.
    I want to do my internship of 8th sem in Canada .
    But my college education have full 10 sem to be qualified as a undergrad.
    Can you please tell me will i be able to apply for an internship in Canada considering these circumstances.

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад

      Hi Archmosphere! You're welcome, happy to hear the content is helpful 😊 In order to log experience as an Intern Architect in Canada you'd need to get your education certified through the CACB. Your education needs to be a min. 5 year bachelor in architecture degree. Also, you can not back log hours. Once you finish your internship and complete the remaining requirements set by the jurisdiction then you can become a licensed architect in Canada. However, if you're not looking into becoming licensed in Canada and just want to gain some experience toward your internship from your college then you could just work in the industry. But just note that without completing the steps noted you won't be able to log the experience toward getting licensed in Canada. If you want more information about becoming licensed in Canada as an international graduate, I would checkout this video: ruclips.net/video/WfQ0Vx7Uol0/видео.html . I hope this helps 😊

    Hey Ashley! Can you help me in understanding how a international architecture graduate can apply to the IAP in Ontario

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  2 года назад +1

      Hi Ashish, you need to meet the educational requirements first so if you hold a bachelors degree that is a min. of 5 year program you could get your education verified by the CACB. Once you get the certification from CACB you can apply to become an Architect. For more details on the CACB eligibility requirements see their website: cacb.ca/academic-certification/ or/and contact the Certification Coordinator at info@cacb.ca . I also have a video for international graduates which might help: ruclips.net/video/WfQ0Vx7Uol0/видео.html

    Thanks for this informative video, Ashley!
    I have received my CACB accreditation a while ago, but can't find a job as an Intern Architect yet. I am applying from outside Canada (I'm European). I had an Express Entry application but was unable to supplement it with a job offer, so the application was unsuccessful since I did have enough points. Any advice on how increase my chances of getting a job offer from outside Canada? Thanks!

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад

      Hi Xord, its a bit easier when you're in the country to get a job. However, in the meantime I would recommend to continue working on your portfolio and skills. For example, if you don't know Revit, I would spend time to learn the program since it's in demand within the industry. The following video might give you with more ideas: ruclips.net/video/ULowG6EfVxo/видео.html .

    Hi Ashley, thank you for this informative video.
    Is there a possibility to fail or to not be accepted for the CACB application?
    because it says on their guide that “Applicants should allow up to 3 months to be informed of the result after submission of their completed application…”
    I’m curious whether they could also decline an application after a long wait and quite expensive fees.

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад

      Hi Allyssa! You're welcome 😊 Yes, this is a possibility. I would recommend sending a quick email to the program coordinator first with your eligibility questions along with providing some information about your degree. Also, checkout the eligibility requirements on the website under eligibility section: cacb.ca/non-accredited-professional-degree/ . The Certification Coordinator's email is info@cacb.ca . I hope this helps.

    Hi Ashley! These are good updates to know. Can we back log any hours from work experience prior to enrolling into the Intern Architect program or is this option available only to recent graduates?

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад +2

      Hi Amit! Thank you for watching, I'm happy to hear the information was useful. Great question, this will depend on your jurisdiction. In Ontario (OAA) and BC (AIBC) unfortunately it is not allowed to back log hours. Refer to the following links, in case your in Ontario the following is a link from the OAA website: oaa.on.ca/registration-licensing/becoming-an-architect/internship-in-architecture-program/recording-your-experience. Or if your in BC see Appendix B to the IAP manual: aibc.ca/wp-content/uploads/files/2020/12/Appendix-B-to-the-IAP-Manual-December-2020-1.pdf . I hope this covers your question if these aren't your jurisdictions and you need help looking for the information let me know.

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад

      I wanted to further clarify that in order to record hours as a recognized student you must be enrolled in accredited program and the hours recorded can only be logged once you are a recognized student since back logging is not permitted. Its also important to check with your jurisdiction for further requirements.

    I am a B.Arch graduate and have 3-4 years of work experience as a licensed architect in India. I will be moving to Canada soon (in 2-3 weeks). In that condition, what should my move be if I want to work in Canada?
    1. Would I have to work as an intern architect?
    2. Do I need a license to work for a junior position? Can I work and gain experience in the field without a license, but just my current portfolio? Would it be a waste of time if I apply for jobs from India itself
    I don't know where to start. Would be a lot of help if you respond.
    Thanks for your time :)

      Hi okwhatever! Sorry for the late reply. I would start by applying for jobs if your role is to work in Canada. While applying for jobs I would also work on developing your portfolio and skills. I recommend building your Revit skills since that is in demand. You do not need to have a licence to work in the industry. You could apply for a designer role, project manager, technologist, etc. I have a video with some job tips, ruclips.net/video/ULowG6EfVxo/видео.html .

    Hi Ashley I am from Alberta and really want to become an architect, would I be able to become an Architect taking the RAIC Syllabus program from Athabasca University? Would it be hard to find a job after taking those courses.

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад

      Hi Rick! Thank you for watching and great question. The Syllabus program is an alternative path to the traditional University route which helps fulfill your education requirement. Its important to note that the Syllabus program does take a bit longer to complete in comparison to the University route (undergrad + masters). You could enroll into the program with or without an undergrad. The program offers both practical experience and courses, basically the electives we would usually take in University is substituted with practical work experience. You still get to do design, history, and theory courses while getting practical experience. I didn't do the Syllabus program but I would imagine that it wouldn't be difficult to find a job after the program since you gain experience while your enrolled. Here's a link to the Syllabus program for more details: raic-syllabus.ca/course-information

    • @architecture_tv
      @architecture_tv  3 года назад

      @@rickbritton5941 not necessarily. Potential employers want to get value from you so the schooling isn't the most important factor. However going to school may help with building your skills and critical thinking. I would focus on your skill set or level up on your current skills to make it more attractive for potential employers. For example, if you don't know Revit I would take some training classes. Revit is becoming an essantial tool in the industry. Think about how you can bring value to the future employer. It's important to keep in mind that it might be difficult to be in school and work within a practice at the same time. I don't know much about the program you are enrolled however typically architecture programs are intense and require all your time & attention. When I was enrolled I would only be able to focus on my studies, I would work in the summer full time at a practice and during school I would work through the University as a research assistant and teaching assistant for the architecture program. Working through the University during my studies blended nicely with my own research and my school schedule. I'll be doing future videos how to land a job in a practice so stay tune!
