Great video mate!! What are your top 10 favorite Doom albums in general? I guess mine are (no particular order) : Saint Vitus - Die Healing Trouble - Psalm 9 Pentagram - Relentless Solstice - Lamentations Scald - The Will Of Gods Is Great Power Reverend Bizarre - Crush The Insects Orodruin - Ruins Of Eternity (their actual album blew me away!) Candlemass - Tales Of Creation Pale Divine - Cementaty Earth Solitude Aeturnus - Beyond the Crimson Horizon... there countless other i love, Iron Man - The Passage, Revelation - Yet So Far, Count Raven - Destruction Of The Void, Las Cruces - SOL, Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium, Spirit Caravan - Jug Fulla Sun and so on...
Well that list is very close to mine actually. For Candlemass, I would add Epicus. That record for me is Top 5 ever. Love that you chose Die Healing of Vitus, it is my favourite as well. I would definitely add Forsaken and their album Dominaeon. It is a very important band for me as they practically opened the gates to the underground metal/scene to me. I would add Doomsword as well although it is debatable if they are Epic or Doom Metal or a bit of both. From the newer acts, I would go for Procession and Argus. Although in reality I have been quite disappointed with the quality of doom metal in recent years.
@@IronHordeMetalTalk Yeah, i am clearly in the team Reagers, though i do like Wino. Sure, Epicus is a timeless masterpiece (the first 4 albums are killer), what i love about Tales Of Creation is this quiet unique christian epicness. Considering actual Doom albums, check out the latest Orodruin, in my opinion one of the best Doom albums in the last 20 years... In general you are right about latest Doom albums, the Scald single is great but the traditional old-school genre have way more great present outputs.
Haha, just remembered the glory days of Doom in the early 2000s with the COTD (Circle Of True Doom) era with bands like Reverend Bizarre, The Gates Of Slumber, Orodruin, Rituals Of The Oak, The Wandering Midget, Warning... now the Doom scene is flooded with 70s boobs (in general i do like boobs :P) women having inverted crosses around or between her legs and drug imagery vibes of half assed copycat bands wearing long beards and baseballcups. For christ sake, this is the sign of getting old, holding the "the past was better than nowadays" banner high :D!
Excellent video. Thanks for posting. I learned a great deal from it. They're not doom, but have you checked out Vulture's Vengeance from Italy? Easily one of the best epic/power metal bands of the NWOTHM that has arisen in recent years. Tony Steele's vocals are reminiscent of Tim Baker of Cirith Ungol and a young Hansi Kursch of Blind Guardian. Esoteric, enigmatic and atmospheric lyrics that reference, as one reviewer put it, "pathfinders, wanderers, lords, knights and executioners." A vivid metal journey with a gloss of Italian drama, passion and Romanticism boasting stunning, tasteful guitar work to boot! Another Italian outfit I would strongly recommend to you and your subscribers is Mastercastle, fronted by the passionate female vocals of Giorgia Gueglio. Their guitarist Pier Gonella is a member of prog metallers Labyrinth I believe. Lush, symphonic, mysterious, colorful and at times haunting. Music made for pursuing desire and intrigue amidst the winding canals of Old Venice. I'd love to visit Malta someday--I am an avid student of the Ottoman Great Siege of 1565. (As well as related events like the various Sieges of Rhodes and the monumental naval clash at Lepanto.) History that reads more dramatically than any fiction ever could!! Talk about grist for an incredible metal concept album or at least an epic song. \m/ \m/
Thanks for the feedback. I absolutely love Vultures Vengeance. In fact I had a gig with them scheduled over here for April of last year but obviously had to cancel it as all venues where closed due to Covid. Not sure I heard Mastercastle yet but I know Pier Gonella plays with Necrodeath, legendary thrash metal band and I had them play in Malta in October 2019. Re: The Great Seige - it would definitely be a great concept album for any Metal band. Even for a movie as well. Hopefully someone takes on the idea someday soon!
Very instructive. My favorite italian doom metal album is Paul Chain's Alkahest, along with Land of mystery by Black Hole. Good job, keep it metal.
Yes, Alkahest is another great record!
Alkahest is a masterpiece!!! ❤❤❤❤🔥
