Each time I watch a video depicting a list about the best of Prince's music, I still don't know why there's not a major recognition about The Gold Experience C. D. because for me, it's just a Masterpiece.
As a lifelong Prince fan who is familiar with his entire catalog, I always enjoy hearing other fans' opinions on his music. I liked most of your 7 best, but a couple of your 7 worst are actually on my top 10. I rank rainbow children in my top 10, for me the music was so damn good I didn't mind that he was shilling for Jevhova Witnesses, 1+1+1 is 3 is among his funkiest ever, it could have intended to teach me how to do basic math and I would still love that song, I also hold the Black Album in high regard, but hey, I don't think Purple Rain is his best Album either so what do I know.
Great video! Here’s: My Top 10 Prince Albums! 1. Sign "☮︎" the Times (1987) 2. Parade (1986) 3. Dirty Mind (1980) 4. 1999 (1982) 5. Around the World in a Day (1985) 6. Purple Rain (1984) 7. Prince (1979) 8. The Gold Experience (1995) 9. Diamonds and Pearls (1991) 10. 3121 (2006)
Nice list! My fave 7 (that’s not Purple Rain). 1. Sign O’ The Times 2. 1999 3. Controversy 4. Batman Soundtrack 5. The Love Symbol 6. Parade 7. Around The World In A Day
Could you imagine if he had released Sign O’ the Times and Diamonds & Pearls after Purple Rain. He would have exploded even bigger. Those four albums back to back (1999, Purple Rain, Sign O’ the Times, Diamonds & Pearls) wow.
As a Prince collector, this was a fun video to watch. I was a little shocked to see "Hit N Run phase 1" listed on the worst. Sure, the first 5 songs aren't that great but there is a run of songs that I think were some of the best songs in the last years of his career. "Fallinlovetonite" (admittedly I like the version with Zooey Deschanel better than the album version), "X's face", "Hardrocklover", "1,000 X's & O's" and most of all "June" were all great songs!! Please note "Mr Nelson" was left off my list of great songs in that run LOL! Hit & Run phase 2 has "Revelation" on it, that was good enough for me! That's what I love about Prince. One man's favorite is another man's worst. He did stuff for everybody. Oh and "N.E.W.S." is my absolute least favorite while "Parade" is my #1! Thanks for this video!
I’m. DIEHARD AT 61 YEARS OLD AND PURPLE RAIN CLIPS Sign of the times for me! I have every album from the Funk instrumentals and For You on vinyl . The man was sent to us on a mission. In a higher place now, laughing at those who sorted him. Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in this thing called life… Nostalgic words as always!
Yes, Gold Album is AMAZING! It should be mentioned here, but all in all I enjoyed this review. I mean how can you even begin to approach 39 albums plus 100 more we probably haven't heard yet. Congrats, SPBurke! and, yes, PURPLE RAIN FREAKIN RULES!
You can hear Prince and Ani DiFranco sing together on Ani's song "Providence", on her 1999 album To the Teeth. Prince sings background vocals- actually, it's pretty much a duet between the two artists; the collaboration was Prince returning the favor to Ani for "Eye Love U, but Eye Don't Trust U Anymore". Anyways, agree with most of your take. I definitely agree with you about Rave beongone of the worst ones; few Prince albums have ever let me down more than that one. However, why no mention of The Gold Experience? It's probably his best 90s work; I'd even rank it higher than Diamonds and Pearls. Better yet, what about The Truth (the bonus acoustic album that came with Crystal Ball). Did you not dig those albums? (Also, correction: Prince's self-titled sophomore album did sell well. It went platinum, on the strength of "I Wanna Be Your Lover").
Man, I SWEAR YOU ARE IN THE CROWD OF THE CLUB SCENE IN PURPLE RAIN!!!! I see you jumpin up to The Time & Let’s go crazy!!! Way ahead of your time! I was there and you were not born yet…Or maybe, you were!!!! You the man!
in my opinion Around The World In A Day is his best album ever. Dirty Mind is where he became Prince but man. Around The World is his best mix of experimentation and catchiness. Also Batman had no business being such a good album
Purple rain rules for you because this was prince doing whiteboy pop and you all bought in. He was a chessmaster while the rest were playing checkers. And yes that includes QUEEN. They were playing checkers.
You are so wrong about under the cherry moon the movie. It was not meant for you if you do not like it. At the end of the day prince gave zero fuks about the mASS opinions. His catalog proves just that.
I honestly don’t see why ppl like sign o the times so much. I can’t listen to 96% of the album today. It sounds very dated & not very clever. Just my opinion
@@SPBurke it does sound dated but there’s better songs on that album so it holds up better than sign of the times to me. I just don’t really hear any hits on. there. Except for maybe adore & slow love. & evn those songs are not exactly princes top teir work. Just my opinion though
The 90's, the poor miserable 90's Prince music was mostly a terrible time to be a Prince fan. It was rather grotesque. Diamonds and Pearls and The Gold Experience being the biggest culprits with Prince aching to be mainstream. Chasing the mainstream dollar by unsuccessfully mixing saccharine pop with his style of funk. It was like mixing sugar water and used motor oil and the result was truly grotesque.

Come is Prince's most underrated album .It is great. Also the Black album is amazing.I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it
I actually dig Come! It’s like Prince’s stab at down-tempo or trip hop.
For me his most underrated album is The Gold Experience, but Come is also up there too!
yes!

yes 1+1+1 is the funk. the reviewers' prejudice is locking himself out of funky party.
What do you think is his best?

I love the ‘Black’ & ‘Exodus’ albums. You just can’t take them too seriously lol you just take the ride and sing along. It’s funky fun.
Could you imagine if he had released Sign O’ the Times and Diamonds & Pearls after Purple Rain. He would have exploded even bigger. Those four albums back to back (1999, Purple Rain, Sign O’ the Times, Diamonds & Pearls) wow.
Nice video. It was fine to watch it. My favourite album is The Gold Experience. Worst... simply don't exist! :-)
Great video but The Rainbow Children is an amazing album.
Let’s go crazy with this! Yes, I said it.

I kind of defends NEWS but I’m also kind of a jazz nerd. It’s inoffensive at worst.
What a fun, entertaining, on point video!! I gave you a thumbs up the second you said 'not titled Purple Rain'!😅 My life since I bec a fan!!
Most die hard Prince fans pick Sign O' The Times as his best
I do!
I’m. DIEHARD AT 61 YEARS OLD AND PURPLE RAIN CLIPS Sign of the times for me!
I have every album from the Funk instrumentals and For You on vinyl .
The man was sent to us on a mission. In a higher place now, laughing at those who sorted him.
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in this thing called life…
Nostalgic words as always!
Lifelong fan, seen him live 19 times, and Sign of the times is indeed his best album, in my opinion
I had a younger guy argue with me that Beyoncé was just as popular and great as MJ or Prince. I said no way not even close. Was he right or me?

Agree about 1999. It's my favorite Prince album. Every song is great.
Darn. I knew rainbow children was going to be number one worst. It’s actually on my seven favorite.
Stop playin!!!!!! YOU KNOW there is no such thing as a bad Prince album…. #dontberiddiculous. #Princecantequalbadanythimg!
There's at least 3 or 4 great tracks on every album💜
How can you not appreciate The Truth included in Crystal Ball?
imo The Truth is his best 90s work, as well one of the most interesting releases in his entire discography.
This was a fun video… but The Rainbow Children - Worst??? …
Nope. It’s actually in his TOP 5. 🙂👍🏾💜
This was awesome and I agree with most of your sentiment.
You think you could do best and worst of David Bowie?
Won’t lie, thought about it.
@SPBurke Let me guess. The 7 best not counting Ziggy Stardust? (Or maybe even Blackstar since that one is also kind of obvious)
Recommended song : lady cab driver
Solid pick!
in my opinion Around The World In A Day is his best album ever. Dirty Mind is where he became Prince but man. Around The World is his best mix of experimentation and catchiness. Also Batman had no business being such a good album

Every Prince song, even his worst has something good about it.

Really David Bowies last album was good? Different strokes for different BLOKES

Yes actually.
