The original script of "P.R." was VERY graphic. From what I remember seeing on MTV News (before the film was released), there were several minutes cut from the film so it would receive an "R" rating. There's also a rumor that after the complete filming of the movie was done, Prince cut his hair short. The director needed to re-shoot the climax of the film ("Purple Rain" theme song). so Prince re-shot his close ups while wearing a wig. Classic film and a great video recap. R.I.P to Prince and Clarence Williams III.

For the time sir if anyone who followed Prince from 1981 on. They would understand the vibes and synergy between The Time and Prince. Prince and Morris put together The Time, but the band became great on the road. They kind of tussle and Prince didn’t let them open up in some major cities. So what they did here was to capture the rivalry in a fun way. The Purple Rain song I would think that Lisa and Wendy practice with the band the gist of the song. So of course the band would knew it.

I don't think Prince ousted Apollonia out of a gig at the club but rather Morris. Billy said he's got three acts. I think the new lineup would have been Dez and the Modernaires, Prince and Apollonia 6. Since Morris and the Time "produced" them, he would have still had some hand in her career; so there's that. Speaking of which, it is a true work of fiction when all of that fuss was over a spot at a club in MN. All of that fuss is over being the house band? Yeah, have fun with that one. lol. Very entertaining and well-thought-out video. Good job.

It's a movie, but more importantly about the Kid, so there is no way any other actor would casted to downplay the Kid's fame. The PR movie is a planned time capsule that Prince knew only he as a superstar could get away with. Like hiphop then, it represents a culture and mimic of the happenings of life at that time.
He doesn't say "I don't want you around this at all." He says "I don't want you around Morris at all." 😆
I thing everything is right with PR! I think it should have won 10 Academy Awards!

finally got around to watch it and i dont get it. i assume prince wanted this movie and had input beyond the music. why would he write himself as this unsympathetic bratty douche? every scene where he wasnt on stage with the band was so boring which begs the question of what the point of this movie was. could have just made a full concert movie. its just the prince flavoured "struggling artist with a disapproving family'"-movie.
