That red rock, lava rock/volcanic rock is a very cost effective alternative to things like expanded clay balls and other substrate/media. Lots of surface area for beneficial micro-fauna. At the end of BBQ season goes on clearance (as is used in a lot markets as a heat sink/diffuser), so it ends up being even more of a value proposition. :)
Thanks coop, amazing filter you’ve made. Totally agree with the turtles outside mine are doing great outside. Do you have any plans on breading them? 👍
If it happens then thats great but I'm not fussed either way! I will be making them a new setup hopefully soon which would be better suited for breeding
For an outside pond for turtles, would you need to run a water heater for them during the winter? We have ours inside atm, but at the next house we are looking into an outside pond, any help would be great that you
Would be interesting to set up an aquaponics ecosystem with turtles and grow food and native plants for your animals.
Really informative video cooper looking forward to coming up to the park again 💯

Love the videos
Weren’t you planning on upgrading them into that large round black pond? Or is that being saved for something else?
Still happening! Just need the time. Set this new filter up to get it running for the new setup when its ready!
Very cool mate 👌
Nothing wrong with turtles 🐢
i haven't watched the whole vid yet but how do you keep YOUR turtles warm in winter outside?
Great vid
thanks!
Hi chief, what kind of pump are you using?
Great video once again Coop. Where do you get those bio balls from?
Any place that would sell aquarium related products are likely to have it or online
Thanks mate
Hey Coop great vid. Could you do a video on whites skinks (liopholis whitii)?
If you watch my recent herping video with the bearded dragon there was also heaps of whitii in that area - gives you an idea on habitat
@@coopsreptiles2588 awesome!
