I love Northern Spain it is so different to the South, it's another part of Europe most tourists never get to see, which is a shame because it is really beautiful, with its old historic towns and villages set in a highly scenic landscape.
When I was a boy, FEVE used to be a disastreous railway company; since the late 90s, it became much more prefessional, efficient and its trains and railtracks much better kept. It is a delight to see how well railtracks are kept and how smooth it goes now.
Hi Robert, Northern Spain is another beautiful place with a fascinating railway history. The extensive FEVE network of metre gauge lines stretches along the coast from the border with France to Oviedo and Gijón. The track was in good condition thanks to grants and funding from the EU.
WOW!!!!!......Cabezon de la Sal.....my grandparents lived (& died) there.....hard to believe I'm "looking" at it...my grand father worked all his life for the Ferrocarril Cantabrico....
+Deckie Deckie I think your Grandparents would be proud of the railway today, everything looks loved and well cared for. The staff we met were very friendly, pointing out all the places of interest along the way.
+Timsvideochannel1 Is a nice land....I'm on the wrong side of 60 born a bit further south ( El Bierzo, Leon....big mountains too) but was always attracted to Santander. (now Cantabria)...left Spain in '68 , came to America, retired/ live in northern Florida(Jacksonville)....also.....always liked to travel in the old trains....could not afford much back then....is a peaceful area....that North West corner....small towns....unassuming people....some ass kicking food...Yeoww man.......you keep on trucking!!
+Deckie Deckie Hi, sounds as though you have some fond memories from your childhood in Northern Spain. I've got a few years on the clock now, but I'm not quite ready to slow down yet, far too many places to see and things to do ... so as you put it ... I'm going to keep on trucking ... take care, it's always nice to get feedback on videos ... Tim.
I noticed the water pipe at 21:20 for refilling steam engines with water. I wonder if it's still used? It might be, if they ever run tourist steam trains on that line.
We did pass an engine shed that was rumoured to contain 2 steam locomotives and a number of water columns appeared to be in good condition. I didn't see a steam locomotive and I can't find any evidence on the internet to show that steam still makes an appearance.
Alberto PEREZ GRAÑA I asked the guard to place a tiny camera in the front of the train whilst I traveled in the passenger compartment. That way I do not distract the driver. Passengers are not allowed to travel in the driving compartment.
Hi Dana, I don't know much about the train we were travelling in, but if you click on this link - www.johndarm.clara.net/Europhots/Spain2.htm - the second photo down is the class of DMU we were riding in.
@@Timsvideochannel1 With your permission, Tim, let me add two informative links on these 2 different kinds of FEVE units (the series called "FEVE 2400" and "FEVE 2700") that make the route between Cantabria (Santander) and Asturias (Llanes, Oviedo and Gijón)... I am aware that the linked web pages (of the Spanish 'Ferropedia') are in Castilian Spanish language. Even so, I linked them for non-Spanish speaking railway fans, in case their very interesting contents could be translated through any of the automatic translation applications of web pages available and installable on the internet. By the way, great videos of some very beautiful routes. Best regards ferropedia.es/wiki/FEVE_Serie_2400 ferropedia.es/mediawiki/index.php/FEVE_Serie_2700
The excellent video as well as the whole report. But I recommend that in successive videos, eliminate the music, since it removes all the charm and realism to the report. Thank you so much
Very enjoyable to watch! Love the more rural nature of the line.
Stunning scenery and colors. I love the old buildings at the stations. As usual with your videos. Cheers

I recomend to you travel from Ferrol to Oviedo. Is a batiful journey.
Alberto PEREZ GRAÑA Hi, thanks for the recommendation, hopefully I will do that journey one day .... Tim.
How do you record from the cockpit?
Alberto PEREZ GRAÑA I asked the guard to place a tiny camera in the front of the train whilst I traveled in the passenger compartment. That way I do not distract the driver. Passengers are not allowed to travel in the driving compartment.
Thank you, I though use a go pro inside the cockpit with driver permission.
I did use a GoPro camera.
? type of DMU ridden? Thanks, Dana Mack

I don't think there is anything wrong with the music, it isn't that invasive.
The music can be for discretion because the maquinists are speaking. It's a good reason.
Get rid of the music.
Nice video, shame about the songs
Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride, sorry you didn't like the music.
