Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Long time fan. First time caller. I can say this is my favorite Foureyes video, by far. The drawer slide portion was perfect. I’ve had that same issue where you can’t adjust the slide enough to prevent wracking. Good to see another human have the same problem. Thanks for sharing the solution. I’ll hang up and listen.
You mean you'll "Take your answer off the air" :) Yeah. I've had a few comments on here saying to try the Blum Movicon (something like that) so I'll check those out
I really like this one Chris! It’s nice to see the process of evaluating your own work to identify weaknesses and then making improvements. I appreciate that. Thanks for another great video!
I have done some woodworks in the past but this woodwork plan ruclips.net/user/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG helps me do much in a far lesser time than i used to do i have already built several projects with this plan and i intend to do many more soon. Thank you so much!
I like the way you show your drawing on the black and white effectiveness with amazing relaxing sound.. like listening more then viewing and lets not easy at all.. I think its a podcast skills and I appreciate that, its not common and works long a way continue this..!!
A great example of iterative manufacturing. The details in your fit and finish are what elevate your designs, in my opinion. Thanks for another great video.
Am I the only one who thinks he must do Audio Books? .... He's voice really calms me down. I schedule his videos for the end of the day so I can relax.
As someone who works in audio books I agree your voice is nice but you will be asked to do character voices and female voices too... Its not as easy as you think! but if you write a book you could do the audio book yourself!
His voice and delivery is definitely a part of why I subscribed. The videos are well edited and the work is they type of work that I aspire to do in my own shop as I am trying to piece it together.
Thanks Matthais. Perhaps I'll start a series where I just go through my back catalog of projects and improve upon everything that bugs me about them now :P
I'm a social worker, and your videos are inspiring as a hobby wood worker. And at the same time there are elements that I try to tell my clients. Thanks for the style of video that you make. Awesome
Nice fix Chris! I think the little detail of the kerf around the stretcher is really clever. For the drawers on the right, I've switch to using under-mount slides in my shop, and love them. You might want to look into them for your next build. They are entirely hidden, and allow the drawer to be a bit wider. Also, I haven't had the racking issue you get with the side mounted ones. Hope that helps!
Thanks Michael...I'll look into it. Any particular brand or resource you use to get them? I've also had a few recommendations for Blum slides. Definitely want to look into something different.
I use the Blum ones also. Part no b563h. I get them from EB Bradley company, because their pricing is way better than anyone else I've found. Installation is a little tricky the first time, but once you install one you'll get it. They look so good installed! Tip: make sure the wall thickness on the drawer is 1/2", and you'll have to notch out the back of the drawer for the slide to go in. If you watch my storage bench video, I install them in that project. Hope that helps!
I enjoy that you strive to have a certain level of precision to your work even if you do make mistakes now and then. I enjoy seeing what you come up with.
Somehow I knew I had not seen the last of this piece. Nice redesign and flawless execution. Kudos to you for being honest with yourself with regards to your missteps. As for the glasses, I like #3. Cheers!
The best woodworkers are not the ones never making mistakes (as everybody do mistakes eventually) but the ones finding the perseverence to hide their mistakes. This video is awesome. I learned many tricks and tips to cover mistakes but also technical issues that might happen due to new design elements! Thanks to share your knowledge and to be humble enough to share your mistakes!
Thanks...appreciate it man. I find that I still make plenty of mistakes, but the more experience I get, the better I get at hiding them...or avoiding them. Sometimes at the very last second. :)
I’ve got at least three pieces of furniture that I built that I’ll definitely be removing the soft close hardware from! Great video, Chris. You’ve got it made as a high school motivational speaker of the YT thing doesn’t pan out.
So cool seeing the transformation and going back to fix things you were not happy about. A lot of people would have just lived with it, you showing us how you can go back to earlier projects is just another inspirational aspect that you provide. Never stop!
1 is my favorite, with 5 being a close runner-up. I know what you mean about Warby Parker. I've been using them for about 7 years and their customer service is hard to even match...it's really good. 9:07 Here's Johnny! ha ha. I really like how you addressed all of the things you thought were wrong in the other version and changed them. Nice job!
Hey Bruce...Thanks! I tell you want I'm gonna do. Since you like 1 and 5...I'm gonna split the difference and get option number 6. Or wait, would it be 3??? :P
I’ve been thinking about getting into woodworking. I tried out a couple of different channels and I must say yours is the most entertaining and informing. Also your pieces are pretty exquisite lol you have a fan in me 🖖🏽
Your work is so clean that I felt jealous that why I am not able to build such clean work. Your every build is bang on. I think the credit goes to your experience. Other than that you always motivated me to build more clean work.
I don't know how you did it but you made one of my favorite foureyes builds look even better. That minimalist detail cut between the base and the cabinet just sets this apart.
That was really great man!!! Appreciate the honesty. Hearing how others design, fail, persevere over obstacles and come to a better design is super useful! It’s something we all can relate to and learn from. Thanks! And I LOL-ed at the Shining reference! Ha! I vote number 1 for the glasses.
As always, your storytelling is on point, your editing clean and so easy to watch, and great to see the transformation that your furniture and mind goes through. Cheers Chris. (Option 6, Lasik, though, there goes your channel identity. Ah well.)
I love your work so much and i enjoy how clever your videos are, i dont mind the ads you have in your videos because they dont feel as intrusive and sudden as other in video ads. And for the glasses, I like Fletcher, so #5
Just found your channel today. Holy crap the production value is great, you must put in a lot of work to make this so satisfying to watch. Looks like I’ve got some binging to do!
Awesome “redemption” video. Great simple fixes Chris. New base looks good even for a “pretty average tv stand”. You saved a cool piece. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Awesome job dude. Love the shadow line on the base. Get on the Blum Movento slides. I could never go back to those side mount slides after using Blum’s.
It's very cool to see you acknowledge the problems in your projects and discuss your thought process for the solutions you arrive at. It's good to see someone that makes high quality projects also encounters problems too! What is that flush trim base/handle you have attached to your Dewalt router @ 09:26 ?
Love your content! Even though I don’t have the ability to build things, I find your videos very informative and wonderful to watch especially with your narrating. You have a great philosophical attitude that is educational. Keep up the awesome videos!! DDecker
I vote #5 for the glasses. I see you've followed many of us down the SawStop rabbit hole. Congrats, I'm sure you'll love it. And great job on making a beautiful piece even better. They saw the mark of a true craftsman is the ability to repair their mistakes. You sir are a true craftsman.
Nice Save! I love things like this. It helps to see someone who makes really great stuff, have one that they are not happy with... Then the re-make... Well, that is cool!
I’m sure it’s been said already but I will say you have the best segue to sponsored ads on RUclips. Good for you. Oh and smiling Jack was a nice touch. Lol
There are some youtubers who do janky things when they build stuff and don't even admit it when they do it or get upset when I ask them about why they did something. You were willing admit up front that when you made the cubby's it wasn't the best way you could do something and I respect that a lot. Because not everyone understands the difference between what is well built and what is not. There are some youtubers literally tricking people into thinking they know what they are doing, when they really aren't that skilled. Thanks for being honest with your viewers.
I’ve watched all of your videos and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them, even the planters! You’re a huge inspiration to me as I try to build a custom furniture business. Keep up with the typical Four Eyes designs even the ones you have to remake!
I'd suggest using undermount drawer slides from Blum or Grass. They are unseen, have plenty of adjustment and are of a very high quality. You can get push to open with soft close as an option, too. Yes, they're expensive, but, if you're wanting to make higher quality pieces it's a good place to start. The door design I really like and would easily be achievable using veneer. Stable, light, etc. Could use MDF, plywood or poplar blockboard for substrate with hardwood edging. The cabinet was all walnut plywood anyway.
You can drill from the bottom of the slender legs and slide in a metal bolt, connecting it with a bar of metal on the inside which would stabilize the whole structure and keep it looking refined.
These videos are great quality. You obviously have two (at least) talents that you excel in. I could definitely see you having your own tv show or something. You’re like the bob Ross of woodworking. Happy little mistakes
Did you ever try the drawer slides from Blum? Just buy yourself a set of bluemotion movento slides, they are amazing! Nothing in conparison to the kind you use in this video. They are probably more expensive but believe me they are worth it! The top range ones have adjustment in all direction, they have push to open and pretty much everything you might dream of for your furniture. For me its a no brainer
Nice conversion. In my opinion the feet since they are very low could have both faces parallel following the line above and a bit recessed - just a bit, it would contribute to lighten the top. The doors could have two different layers which would also reduce the waste. Nice solutions anyway.
The legs on the original remind me of the Boston Dynamics robot dog... looks like it’s going to walk out of the room :) Great job with the rework. Looks class!
Hi, Those legs were one of the reasons that I liked the unit so much so for me it isn't as nice as it was but everyone to their own. I do like the way you sorted the doors
Great video 👍! I have quite a few bits I have built that i need to go back and “fix”. I hate the original failure but love the satisfaction the fix 😀. As for the glasses 👓, I think 🤔 I have to go with number five
This is a great video on many levels, Chris -- and the TV stand ain't bad neither. I have a similar project lined up for myself. And I vote 1 or 4 on the frames.
Reminds me of this quote “If you trust in yourself… and believe in your dreams… and follow your star… you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.” - Terry Pratchett
Nice video dude. Got my first Warby's back in 2012 and have absolutely loved them! Awesome company. Nice redemption video, it looks good for the space and function.
Nice! I don't remember the exact year... but about the same for me. I have good insurance, but getting them at Warby was cheaper for me because my prescription (being so bad) cost a ton extra. After that...I never switched away. Love them
I wasn't aware of all the problems in the original build, but I can say this, I really like "plan B". It is clean, elegant and simple. Good save. Danny
So I built a nightstand and in the end learned that time is an illusion and all the keys to the noble 8 fold path to enlightenment.. haha kidding.. appreciate the life lessons though! Good job Chris!
I have been enjoying your joinery videos. Would you consider designing and building a Retro-Mod room divider/bookcase or partition. I know it would be fantastic.
Loved everything! How you managed failure and knowing it always leads you to something even more satisfying. If you want it bad enough of course. Loved the legs too! You looked like a boy playing with his favorite toys! I’d love to hear more about your story or background. Im sure we all wood jejeej
Thanks! Might I recommend my podcast. The Modern Maker Podcast. You'll definitely get more insight on me. I'm pretty sure we did some "origin" stuff in the early episodes :)
I forgot my headphones at home so now I can't watch this at...not work. Guess I'll have to wait until I'm home from...not work. Thumbs up already because I know it'll be awesome.
First time watching one of your videos. :) There's a sweet energy about you and the work you do. I look forward to many more videos. Keep up the great work.
Personally i'd ditch the hardwood slides all together and go with waxed hardwood on hardwood runners. It's how I've done almost all of my furniture and they slide like they are on air.
What was that router guide used to flush trim he edge banding you made? Looked like something to keep the router perpendicular to the surface. Sorry if covered in another comment.
hey Chris, i think the re-design looks great. this video is a few months old so i won't be surprised if you don't see this question, but...regarding the new legs/feet for this tv stand (this may be a stupid question, but i'm new) -- is there any difference having the long grain meet the floor vs. having end grain meet the floor? it's much more common to see furniture legs or feet with the grain direction vertical. anyways, just wondering. if anyone else reading this has any input, i'd love to read it, too. thanks!
Yo Chris! so I came across the same problem with my push to open drawer slides. I removed the springs but it now lacks a holding stop. How did you achieve that after you removed the slow close hardware. Thanks in advance for your response!
I'm down for any of you audio book producers listening out there.
Alejandro Guerra Villegas yesssss
As someone who works in audio books I agree your voice is nice but you will be asked to do character voices and female voices too... Its not as easy as you think! but if you write a book you could do the audio book yourself!
I hate it. Neat work though.

I love the commentary on the builds - perhaps even more than I enjoy the woodwork. Looks great for an average TV stand.
Thanks Kevan!
I like all the talk about trouble shooting. I actually enjoyed this much more than the build video.
Thanks Matthais. Perhaps I'll start a series where I just go through my back catalog of projects and improve upon everything that bugs me about them now :P

Beautiful work. Love the methodical approach. The Saw Stop looks right at home.
Thanks! feels at home too :)
I’ve got at least three pieces of furniture that I built that I’ll definitely be removing the soft close hardware from! Great video, Chris. You’ve got it made as a high school motivational speaker of the YT thing doesn’t pan out.
haha...I just need somebody to get me on the circuit :)
Chris Salomone I’ll call my people. If you’re luckily, maybe you can at least start with a after school special
So cool seeing the transformation and going back to fix things you were not happy about. A lot of people would have just lived with it, you showing us how you can go back to earlier projects is just another inspirational aspect that you provide. Never stop!

Absolutely nothing average about that stand. Awesome work as always bud.
Thanks Mathew :)
I’ve been thinking about getting into woodworking. I tried out a couple of different channels and I must say yours is the most entertaining and informing. Also your pieces are pretty exquisite lol you have a fan in me 🖖🏽
Thanks Kyree...appreciate it. Your last line made me think of Toy Story :)
Chris, your videos are so relaxing to watch.
Thanks :)
I feel like your channel should be called "Wholesome Builds". Your videos are just so wholesome!
haha...I don't know. I through some swear words in there every now and again. Just to keep people on their toes :)
Your work is so clean that I felt jealous that why I am not able to build such clean work. Your every build is bang on. I think the credit goes to your experience. Other than that you always motivated me to build more clean work.
Very cool! Just gotta keep working at it and you'll keep getting better :)
I don't know how you did it but you made one of my favorite foureyes builds look even better. That minimalist detail cut between the base and the cabinet just sets this apart.
Thanks...and I'll assume that you were going for (and successfully landed) a nice double meaning there :)
Awesome video as usual. I really like shadow gaps - a small detail that does so much for the overall appearance of a piece.
Thanks totally agree. They make it pop
Appreciate it Ryan. Glad you enjoyed. #1 seems to be in the lead so far :)
I think that this is so much more than an average TV stand. Very nice work, as always. I love your sense of humor. Great video.
Thanks Raynola :)
As always, your storytelling is on point, your editing clean and so easy to watch, and great to see the transformation that your furniture and mind goes through. Cheers Chris. (Option 6, Lasik, though, there goes your channel identity. Ah well.)
haha...I'd have to keep wearing glasses with no lenses to stay on brand :)
Definitely. Rock the vanity glasses.
I love your work so much and i enjoy how clever your videos are, i dont mind the ads you have in your videos because they dont feel as intrusive and sudden as other in video ads. And for the glasses, I like Fletcher, so #5
Thanks man. That means a lot to me. I always try to have fun with them.
Just found your channel today. Holy crap the production value is great, you must put in a lot of work to make this so satisfying to watch. Looks like I’ve got some binging to do!
Hey Timmy...glad you found me! I do put a lot of work into it - but I enjoy it, so I don't mind the long hours :)
Happy binging!

Thanks man...and it is called the little lipper :)
Amazing video chris!!!
Thanks Pat. I’m officially down the rabbit hole. Maybe even at the bottom of it. Appreciate the kind words.
That a great transformation. A lot creative solutions to improve the piece.
Thanks! Appreciate it :)
Nice Save! I love things like this. It helps to see someone who makes really great stuff, have one that they are not happy with... Then the re-make... Well, that is cool!
Thanks. Yeah. I think the rework was an improvement.
I’m sure it’s been said already but I will say you have the best segue to sponsored ads on RUclips. Good for you. Oh and smiling Jack was a nice touch. Lol
Thanks Klem...I've had a few people tell me they like it...and many more than have said they don't.
Loved this video! Great to see that you can make something work even if you are not happy with it at first.
Good call... that is one of the nice things about building. You can usually alter quite a bit after the fact.
I think Cher would approve of all the changes you made. Great job.
No need to turn back time any more :)
Great video showing how to work through the things you weren't happy with, you don't see these kinds of vids around and it's refreshing
Thanks man. Glad people are enjoying it.
I’ve watched all of your videos and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them, even the planters! You’re a huge inspiration to me as I try to build a custom furniture business. Keep up with the typical Four Eyes designs even the ones you have to remake!
Thanks...appreciate it...and I will keep at it...and one day when I run out of ideas, I'll only do remakes :)
Glasses number 1 for the win! Not a cubs fan, but they compliment the hat very nicely! (From a guy who's signature look is also a hat and glasses)
Thanks Rhys...I'll look into that. I've had a few suggestions, so there must be something good out there for me.
number uno. Number 1
Agreed. Definitely 1.
You can drill from the bottom of the slender legs and slide in a metal bolt, connecting it with a bar of metal on the inside which would stabilize the whole structure and keep it looking refined.
Your furniture is beautiful and I really enjoy watching your process. I love you, man. And I like #1.
Haha...thanks man... Right back at ya :)
Best videos on RUclips.
Best viewer on youtube :)
LOVED the picture of "Here's Johnny" in the cord management holes. NICE!!!
These videos are great quality. You obviously have two (at least) talents that you excel in. I could definitely see you having your own tv show or something. You’re like the bob Ross of woodworking. Happy little mistakes
Thanks! I used to love Bob Ross when I was little. I would tape him everyday and watch when I got home from Junior High.
much better. really didn't mind the other model, but just wasn't you. great job n music. as always. thanks.
Thanks Marty
Did you ever try the drawer slides from Blum? Just buy yourself a set of bluemotion movento slides, they are amazing! Nothing in conparison to the kind you use in this video. They are probably more expensive but believe me they are worth it! The top range ones have adjustment in all direction, they have push to open and pretty much everything you might dream of for your furniture. For me its a no brainer
I haven't...but I'm going to give them a shot. You're the second person who has recommended them.
Thanks man. Lots of people have mentioned those dogs.
Hi, Those legs were one of the reasons that I liked the unit so much so for me it isn't as nice as it was but everyone to their own. I do like the way you sorted the doors
Thansk John...I still have the legs and plan on using them for another project at some point.
Great video 👍! I have quite a few bits I have built that i need to go back and “fix”. I hate the original failure but love the satisfaction the fix 😀. As for the glasses 👓, I think 🤔 I have to go with number five
Thanks...and as far as the glasses are concerned. There are no wrong choices :)
Number 5 looks best!
how long did it take for you to build such clean projects. do have video material from your first woodworking projects when you just started.
I didn't film myself when I first started...but they can take a while. Without filming...something like this would probably take me a good 40 hours.
Always got the best building videos
Thanks Daniel
That looks so much better. Nice save chris
Thanks man!
Nice job Chris. I say number 5 for the glasses. Regards, Todd
BTW, nice ode to Jack Nicholson's "Shining" moment.
Hey Todd...thanks! I tell you, the voting is getting pretty split. I may need to get all 5 pairs :)
This is a great video on many levels, Chris -- and the TV stand ain't bad neither. I have a similar project lined up for myself.
And I vote 1 or 4 on the frames.
PERFECT,.. what kind of wood you use in this proyect??
Reminds me of this quote “If you trust in yourself… and believe in your dreams… and follow your star… you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.” - Terry Pratchett
haha...I like it :)
#1 frames are golden. As always, fantastic build (mod.) Jack's zoomed in face tripped me out a little bit, but I'll be ok.
haha...just don't go to bed right away :)
Love them
The piece came out really well Chris
Thanks !
I wasn't aware of all the problems in the original build, but I can say this, I really like "plan B". It is clean, elegant and simple. Good save. Danny
Thanks Daniel :)
I need this so bad rn. I just moved into a house and I'm watching TV on the floor 😂 beautiful piece man
haha...that's ironic... :-)
So I built a nightstand and in the end learned that time is an illusion and all the keys to the noble 8 fold path to enlightenment.. haha kidding.. appreciate the life lessons though! Good job Chris!
haha...thanks man!
I have been enjoying your joinery videos. Would you consider designing and building a Retro-Mod room divider/bookcase or partition. I know it would be fantastic.
I guess no 1 looks the best. But no2 looks like my safety glasses, so perfect for the shop!
haha...I thought the same thing...and I kinda liked that :)
your drawings always are so helpful to me. Really makes it "click" for me.
Thanks Jake...appreciate it! I enjoy the drawings/animations :)
The Mr. Rodgers of woodworking
haha...it's a beautiful day :)
Another awesome vid Chris!
Voting for #1
Thanks Zach.
great work, as usual. definitely #1 or #5
Thanks Stephen :)
Exceptional video man. Love the re-design.
Thanks!
Bravo sir!
:)
Your videos are awesome and crisp! Keep it up!
thanks man...appreciate it :)
I forgot my headphones at home so now I can't watch this at...not work. Guess I'll have to wait until I'm home from...not work. Thumbs up already because I know it'll be awesome.
Hey man, I don’t want to tell you how to live your life... but I’d probably take a half day today. 😜
I have 2 weeks off starting tomorrow but I may just call it an early day haha
Nice redo. The shadow line on the legs was a perfect choice. Love the humor.
Thanks Tom!
I don't need glasses, but I'm getting some because of you! thank you for making your sponsors proud
I always say if I woke up tomorrow with 20/20 vision...I'd still get glasses. Also. It's kind of my brand now :)
First time watching one of your videos. :) There's a sweet energy about you and the work you do. I look forward to many more videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Victor...appreciate it :)
Wow, wow, wow. Are we supposed to ignore the SawStop?
Congrats!
No...I've got a highlighted story that goes into detail on IG :)
I discovered that after a deep forensic dive :)
#2 pair of glasses looks best. Re-purposed tv stand looks great. Nice improvement.
Thanks man. I personally like 2 best also.
I really like this TV stand. Is there a blueprint/plan for this?
Personally i'd ditch the hardwood slides all together and go with waxed hardwood on hardwood runners. It's how I've done almost all of my furniture and they slide like they are on air.
Maybe I’ll try that sometime. Especially if I can make them an aesthetic part of the design.
I definetely like this style of legs you made
Thanks!
Yet another great build! And I am going with numero uno for your spectacles choice.
What was that router guide used to flush trim he edge banding you made? Looked like something to keep the router perpendicular to the surface. Sorry if covered in another comment.
No worries. It's called the little lipper by fast cap. Let them know that I sent you :)
Gotta be number one dude.
# 5. Four sure..beautiful as always Chris
I love this tv stand! And I always love the stuff I learn from your vids. Also, I’m down for #3 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Thanks! Man...so far I think I have votes for all pairs. Maybe I'll just get all 5 :)
Chris Salomone who says you have to settle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Number 5 looks good
hey Chris, i think the re-design looks great. this video is a few months old so i won't be surprised if you don't see this question, but...regarding the new legs/feet for this tv stand (this may be a stupid question, but i'm new) -- is there any difference having the long grain meet the floor vs. having end grain meet the floor? it's much more common to see furniture legs or feet with the grain direction vertical. anyways, just wondering. if anyone else reading this has any input, i'd love to read it, too. thanks!
Yo Chris! so I came across the same problem with my push to open drawer slides. I removed the springs but it now lacks a holding stop. How did you achieve that after you removed the slow close hardware. Thanks in advance for your response!
Hi there
⚡️Great job, I am wondering to know what is the varnish you used for this project can you tell me full name and model, thank you👍
