Hi there! I was wondering where the scripts were for the m2 files, as it seems that the dropbox link the the description only has a ADT and WMO script in it.
when i try to Import M2 Models, it gives me: "--Argument count error: ImportM2 wanted 5, got 3 " and it shows in the MaxScript, at line 819 this: "ImportM2 modelFile files[1] obj" how can i fix it?
I tried some older m2-import scripts that didn't work ("m2_import_v0.303.ms" and "m2_import_v.304b.ms"). The last one works with some models but not with the new HD characters. Another thing I tried is backporting MPQs with HD-character-models to open and export them in WoW Model Viewer 7.0.5. This way I can the see the model with messed up textures and missing feet. That doesn't really help.
How do you export all the files in WoW, I tried just right clicking on the WMO's in the WMV and saving them as a WMO and when I open them in 3DS they just appear as wireframe squares, how can I export all the files like you did?
Hey there, if you're atill around I've been meaning to ask if you ever found out what the problem was with reading the data of that first terrain chunk? I'm translating your max script right now into the unity 3d engine for a more or less personal project, but I've ran into the same issue. Cheers!
No matter which WMO I try to import, it keeps saying "[WARNING] - Texture not found - ", I triple-checked the path but it is in the right spot for sure, any help here? :(
+Taylor Mouse I'm pretty sure I do, here are my settings: puu.sh/lXJlO/a1024d4d31.png I just exported everything out of WoD but it still can't find the textures.
+Stan the Man Ok, the problem is, as you show in you picture, you use the xnConvert application, but you need the nConvert.exe, it is from the same guys, but it is a command line extension for xnConvert As you can see in the video at 9:41, it shows the nConvert.exe not the xnConvert. here is the url: www.xnview.com/en/nconvert/ Hope this works T.
+Taylor Mouse I downloaded the nconvert application and put it in but it still says texture not found, I also tried switching the textures to another folder but that doesn't work either.. I'd really like this to work :(
Hey Taylor I am having trouble importing m2 files when I try to import its not showing any of my m2 files their Delete repeated word but its only looking for wmo's after in the comment that m2 is imbedded to wmo am I right? If not I do need to m2 import
Do you know how can I export only one WMO with textures? :( Model viewer exports m2 models successfully, but it crashes on wmo-s. Right now I am stuck and I accomplished having the WMO-s converted to OBJ but it hasn't got textures. Any ideas? :(
+Tudvari you can, but it is a long manual process, in that time you probably exported everything, so in the wmo file, the path to the textures can be found, they map to the structure in the mpq or casc files.
+Thomas De Nil This can be possible if you are trying to import one of the newer wmo's, this means it is only a placeholder, the boxes indicate the position of the doodads or m2 models What file are you trying to see ? T.
I'm looking to import the Warsong Gulch map into 3ds max. Does anyone know which map # WSG is called? Or does anyone have the WSG map already downloaded they could share with me?
Its in Draenor, not sure if the adt files are named specifically to their area or if it is just draenor_xx_xx.adt you probably need to import them all ( whatch out that is about 6000 files!! )
Hello, is possible to import the new HD characters into 3dsmax? i don't really understand this tutorial about the m2 files, hope you respond this message :) P.S i tried to import the the characters with the M2 importer but is not possible, Hope you can help me :)
Henri Pappa If you still dont know the answer then yes of course you can. You get WoW Model Viewer then select the model you want to export and put armor on it (or if you want your own character load it from the armory :3) then export it as a FBX file and import the FBX file in 3ds Max :D
Thank you for sharing this! I've been using your WMO-script in 3DS max 2015. I ported stuff into Unreal Engine 4. So far your script was the best solution for me - all other options I tried created unnecessary textures/mats for every little mesh part while importing a FBX back into UE4. I'm still desperately looking a solution to get HD character models exported and noticed your m2 import script in the video. Does this work and would you share it?
nc nexus If you want to rip HD character models from WoD then you need to get the casc unpacker, unpack the character files and pack them into an MPQ that can be opened by an old version of WoWModelViewer that can export FBX. Ver. 7.0.5 or something. Then you can export them.
Hi, how are you, look, I have a problem that does not matter if there is the max 3d version I have in 2016. Something to import sells me an error that can not be imported. Sorry I have to use a translator to talk to you what happens is that I like the work you did with the import adt wow in 3d max
+Thomas De Nil What do you mean with " The .m2 file is missing" ? you will need to export everything from WoW, including the M2 files. Plz let me know or PM me you require more assistance on this. T.
Where's M2 script?

When I import models they don't have textures.
I can't import m2 files, when I click the import m2, nothing happens.

quick question what did you use to extract the wow files
If you change anything in the WMO, say you delete all the doodads. Can you save it and export it to wmo?

Nevermind found out what the problem was. Need to skip the MH2O chunk before reading MCNK. o/
No matter which WMO I try to import, it keeps saying "[WARNING] - Texture not found - ", I triple-checked the path but it is in the right spot for sure, any help here? :(
+Stan the Man Did you update the settings with the nConvert.exe ?

+Stan the Man check spaces in path. Where is a problem with HiddenDosCommand in the script
thanks for the 3ds max script! i can finally print warcraft 3 figures! you do not know how much this means to me!
Hey Taylor I am having trouble importing m2 files when I try to import its not showing any of my m2 files their Delete repeated word but its only looking for wmo's after in the comment that m2 is imbedded to wmo am I right? If not I do need to m2 import
YOu are right, it can only be done after you import the wmo, because it checks the dummies in the scene, they represent the M2 objects
Do you know how can I export only one WMO with textures? :( Model viewer exports m2 models successfully, but it crashes on wmo-s. Right now I am stuck and I accomplished having the WMO-s converted to OBJ but it hasn't got textures. Any ideas? :(

+Taylor Mouse Meanwhile I solved the problem :) Exporting WMO-s to .OBJ or .FBX is one click with Machinima Studio :D Btw thanks for the answer! :)
It does not appear to be working, when I try importing WMO's , It says "BLP does not exist " followed by the path.
+Thomas De Nil
This can be possible if you are trying to import one of the newer wmo's, this means it is only a placeholder, the boxes indicate the position of the doodads or m2 models
What file are you trying to see ?
T.
I was just trying to import an alliance keep like in elwyn forrest and heartglen.
How do I get those ADT Files ?
What version is wow Client? i have ver.6.2.2 , client //this version can work ?

pvpzone03
ADT files can be extracted via the CASC viewer
Use the WoW Model viewer to do that, it is an out of the box functionality
NOTE: the M2 import is no longer working for the latest expansion (Legion)
Do you have a fix for the m2 import for working with the Legion files?
The link for the script is broken, either moved or deleted
Pretty usefull things i just totaly hate 3DSM .. looking forward to import whole my ADTs to 3DSM export everything as OBJ and strife right to BLENDER
You sir, are a saviour to 3D machinima!

Witch minimum 3ds max support this Script?
I use 3ds 2008 does with that work?
I have no clue, the script was build on 2011 and tested up to 2016, so I may as well work, don't remember if I used new features.
Thank you for sharing this!

hey man, where's the m2_import script?
Really useful, well explained and complete. After days of researches you helped me alot! I put like and i subscribe :)
"Download scripts : www.dropbox.com/s/hoiqm0n3u4y..."
link doesnt work.. :(
Useful tutorial, but how did you export all the game ? I hope you didn't export all files one by one with Wow Model Viewer.
+Mathis vermerenus use CASC viewer to explore and export data stuff from wow as of WoD
the download link for scripts is not valid..
+Victor Velev Oe indeed, I'll check this asap, sorry about that :/

i.imgur.com/UtjTj1l.jpg This is the same error that I have when importing.
I don't think the script works with later versions of WoW, I don't think it is your Max version, and I'm currently no longer working on this.
Is it me or is the the link down?
The .m2 file is missing ?
