I agree with Carton. The only teams that I’m concerned with are the 49ers and Texans. We owned the Bills without Rodgers, Miami never lives up to expectations, same with Jags, and the rest are against rookies or QB2s.
I think the NYJ depending on the health of the Oline and AR8 can easily win more than 11 games this year. Aside from the health issues, it always comes down to how well a team can run the ball. Unfortunately NFL teams no longer let the starters play in the pre - season and that is to the detriment of the conditioning of the players and the gelling of the offensive line and RBs for the first 3 to 4 weeks of the season.
If a team can run on first and second downs and gain between 3 to 4 yrds an attempt. They will be moderately successful during the season anything above 4 to 6 yrds an attempt. They should or definitely have the potential to be a playoff team. Anything below 3 yrds an attempt and they will have a terrible seaon. No matter how football has changed a team has to be able to run the ball at critical times so the defense respects them and that has ALWAYS opened the passing game for the team.
With Breece Hall and the rest of the RB additions added this offseason this NYJ team has the potential to be a team that averages well over 5.2 yrds per attempt. Breece did just as much without a healthy Oline last year. With a possible All Pro Oline, I'm expecting Awards for Hall this season. Also a great running game takes 8mmense pressure off a 40yr old AR8 to win games by himself.

@@dallasherd it’s not that the rest of the NFL is immune to injuries is that the New York Jets have had an abnormal amount of injuries on their offensive line over the last five years. Even when Darnold was the quarterback, this offensive line had too many injuries. In the last four years every quarterback, we put on the field behind the New York Jets offensive line missed games due to injuries caused by sacks, because Of the multiple line changes due to injuries on the offensive line.

Tim - that one time that QB Rodgers will have a bad game will be that the time that the D picks him up and maybe even pitches a shutout. rolling back the P Morstead-led pin down machine on STs, the D also has a chance to put points on the board. Jets led the league in safeties scored in 2023.

I don't think this guy knows a thing about football...def not the Jets. If Rodgers was in his prime...maybe. The Jets don't have the best qb in the AFC never mind the NFL. I'll give the Jets their credit on defense. The Jets offensive line was horrible though last year. He's going to be running for his life all season, and every edge rusher in the league is going to have their eyes on him.

Carton, you're a smart sports insider and reporter, but I recommend dialing down a little and allowing your peers to step up and talk a little more. Sometimes, you can cut them off, and it's obvious to everyone. It's gotta be upsetting for the others at times. I still love the show, but I prefer to allow your peers to talk and not get cut off - just cur back on 10-20%, and the show will be much better.
