- Welcome to another Damh, Cerri and Oscar trip. This time we stopped on our way home from a short break in Devon to visit the Cerne Abbas Giant who is a huge chalk figure carved into a Dorset hillside. We found him only to realise he was in dire need of a bit of care and attention. Usually, he is bright white, but this time he was a tad reticent to be seen clearly. Perhaps it was in consideration of the slightly faint of heart as generally he is neither a shy nor retiring fellow, in fact, he could be considered a bit of an exhibitionist.
As a bonus, we also discovered a beautiful old village and an even more stunning sacred well near the Abbey. Coming from our very busy area it was wonderful to experience some stillness and peace in this ancient place.
Welcome to dorset Dave and carri
Thank you both for another delightful video... a reminder of sunny days on a dreich, wet one in Edinburgh. It's lovely to go to sacred places when it's quiet and you are the only ones there.💜💫
What a lovely gentle video by two lovely gentle souls....thank you
Thank you so much for this wonderful walk under the trees… and the music and kindness and tranquility. I lost my dearest cat man Milwaukee on the 26th, after almost 20 years together, and this little walk just soothed my broken heart.
So, thanks to the three of you. See you next time and much love from Nova Scotia, Canada. ❤️
Ahhh.....thank you both for such a beautiful video!!! Give Oscar a hug! ox❤
Thanks for sharing your beautiful visit to the Giant and the Well.
What a wonderful day for your adventure! Thank you for taking me along. Blessings to you all!
Thanks Damh & Cerri for sharing your walks. It is wonderful to experience these magical & spiritual places with you both & Oscar. My Labrador, Max, also had the knack of finding water! It looked so very peaceful. Blessings💚✌️🍂🍁

Ah, green and lush. Balm for this summer Aussie's eyes! Ah Oscar, lots of your Lab half showing there with that intense love of water. :)
Thank you both for sharing your walk with us. I hope to get there in person one day, but until then, thank you! /|\

Thank you for inviting us along on your visit to that site!
Your "theme song" is always the perfect accompaniment for your wanderings. We have 34-degrees F in Ohio, so this was a welcomed jaunt in the sun. You two are sweet together, and Oscar is a hoot.
Thank you both for the lovely video!
Thank you so much for the beautiful video, Dorset is such a special place x
That was beautiful. Thanks both for taking me to one of my bucket list sites. And also, what a classy vid - the clarity of the filming, the editing, all excellent 👌

He definitely needs some love and attention, will have to send a message to the NT.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing. Many years since I was there, a lovely place ❤/|\
Gorgeous video, thanks! About the Cerne Abbas giant, there is a curious passage in the 12th century Breton tale Vita Euflami, that before Arthur goes out to kill a dragon, he "armed himself with the triple-knotted club" (claua trinodi). And there are suggestions in early Welsh poetry that Arthur was a giant. Could the Cerne Abbas Giant be Arthur?
Oooh, no there is an idea. I have not heard of that story so thank you. :)
Thank you for sharing this little slice of late summer. We've never found the well, next time will follow your clues!
Enjoyed this very much, the Giant is so enigmatic, when ever he first stepped on to the hill side, he's certainly made his presence felt! May he continue striding through our imagination.
Looking forward to your next adventure, best wishes 🌳/|\🌳
Thank you :) We did struggle to find him, but with some guidance from some lovely locals we found the gate was up by the abbey. You can see someone going coming out of it in the video, just up on the left as we come out of the little alley way. It is worth the search. :)
Dave,
What is the lovely background music? I know you must be playing it - is it your composition?
Thank you, it is a piece Damh wrote just for these videos, we are glad you like it. :)
Why have National Trust not been looking after him? He's in their charge, it's not good enough! x
Another wonderful video, and a window into a place I long to visit. The well...what an extraordinary place...with all its green and magical atmosphere that set my imagination wandering into the history of the place. The Cerne Abbas Giant is quite grand, and Damh's commentary got me giggling. A much needed break from the world today. Many thanks to you both💜
