The William Buttlicker scene is iconic, one of my favorites. But it's a different scene from this episode that might be my favorite line in the entire series. "Well, Dunder Mifflin would have to be a front for money laundering, and there's little evidence of that..." "...is there SOME evidence?"
@5:05:Can something be sad and cringy at the same time? Definitely. How about when young Michael talks about his dream of having 1000 kids so that he’ll have 1000 friends and no one will be able to say no to being his friend (on a kiddos’ show, preserved forever on VHS)?…😣😢
I'm watching this without watching the Office first cuz in my country i cant find where to watch full episodes 😫 so I just watch youtube clips of it , and now i found this channel and it's awesome
So I will say that I have watched the full series before watching your videos, but I did wait for far longer than I should have before watching the final season in full. I own seasons 1-8 on DVD but never bought the last season. It wasn’t until it was streaming that I watched it in full and that was startlingly recent. My reasoning? The show got a bit weird after Steve Carrell left and I found myself caring less and less for the characters, even though I really loved the show in its heyday. I finished it more or less to get through it than out of legitimate excitement.
I remember that for a long time there was a suggestion that they'd try to get Carol Burnett to be Michael's mom. The generational gap might be too great, and of course they didn't want famous people, but it does seem like it would be perfect. I do wonder, if Steve had stayed on the show, would we have ever met his parents?
I’m sorry I really thought Kelly should have faced some consequences for what she did. Jim and Dwight failed to attend her party so Kelly falsifies documents to affects their bonuses. Kelly was a psycho and not a likable character.
I like this episode but can’t see Pam’s art school friend the same way after watching him as Harry in Mad Men (he’s a huge sleaze ball in that show). If you’re into horror, his actor, Rich Sommer, is great in Summer of 84.
Chris: wears Nintendo shirt Me: AH, A MAN OF CULTURE I SEE Seriously, It's nice knowing that I'm not the only person who loves both Nintendo and the office
The Buttlicker scene is one of the best sitcom scenes ever made. Also, it was unprecedented in the art form of TV sitcomedy. The rest of the episode is strong throughout with many gem moments and an unforced poignancy. It sublimely combines the relatable and the believably ridiculous. 5/5. The world is a bland place without it.
It's not censorship. It's a balancing act between copyright and fair-use, and actually RUclips uses a clever Content ID system to sidestep a much more restrictive alternative in which online content creators would get sued to death, or even worse, youtube not hosting any unapproved content out of fear of being held legally and financially responsible for uploading copyrighted material. There's a great Tom Scott video about it.
Okay, I gotta brag a little. Do you remember the "spot the pineapple" contest on psych? I WON IT ONCE! It was amazing.we got lots of swag in a big box in the mail.
I normally don't like Kelly because her character is probably meant to garner dislike, but when she said "I was raped" it honestly never fails to make me laugh. This sentence would be terrible if read out of context lmao.
It honestly made her character sound even more screwed up. How many times has she done this? And against whom? This is one of those throw away lines that is played for laughs when its incredibly screwed up. Not to mention, she was messing with Dwight and Jim's livelihood over a petty reason.
Alex doesn't have a crush on Pam- he's not straight. I could believe that he's bi or pan, but everything about that character reads Pam's gay friend not possible love interest to me.
There was originally a lot more to the storyline of Pam's time in New York, and I believe that in that extended narrative, it was more evident that Alex had a crush on Pam. Even after that was cut, the scene with Alex was supposed to include a profession of love for Pam, but John and Jenna both felt that the addition of that drama felt too artificial (Stephen Merchant agreed with them), so this alternate version was used instead. Regardless, I think it's pretty evident that Alex is supposed to have feelings for Pam. Men who are "just friends" don't seek out a woman at her place of work in the middle of the day to talk about her future.
I still don't like the ending of the episode. I do like the part when michael is very open and telling Kelly about being dissapointed but how does that put Kelly above the law? I just feel like they shouldn't have ended it with them laughing at eachother, there was just so much potential for a way more stern and funny ending.
The William Butlicker part makes me giggle every time I watch it. However I think the whole Alex/Pam thing is boring. What was the point of bringing him on the show? It doesn’t go anywhere. Anyway, thanks for your channel. I enjoy it
the people who say michael is their most hated character are just being contrarians. there are plenty of worse people on the show than him. jan, ryan, kelly, creed, Robert California, todd packer, etc. sure you CAN not like him for things he's done. but saying that he's literally on top of your list of most hated characters is contrarian stuff.
Did you ever watch Young Sheldon? It’s way better than Big Bang Theory. There is no laugh track so they actually have to try to make laughs and it’s great
I wasn’t aware there was hate. Almost everyone in my friend circle loved that show and would tell me all the time how much I should love it, because I’m a nerd and work in tech.
@@Mulverine you should watch it if you already haven't, just be aware that there is a decline in quality in the last few seasons, so maybe just skip them

Kelly is my least favorite character. Hit and miss in the best seasons, an outright irritant in the later seasons. Seriously, there's absolutely no reason she isn't fired. And the way they reneged on the whole "Jim actually cares about his job" thing for standard Jim sthick is frustrating. Funny enough episode.
I have been watching The Office many times and your analysis is very routine and mundane. You just follow the general analysis. Michael's great evolution, Jim and Pam etc. Michael is just generally an horrible human being and Jim is the biggest villain on the show. Put that in your pipe and smoke it

This episode for me is a 5/5. You're right about the role play call scene. It's is the best scene in all of television in my opinion.
June Squibb plays Sheldon s grandmother on the big bang theory and aunt Alice (hot sauce) on modern family
I'd give this episode a 5/5 but 4/5 is good too. I always feel happy when this episode is next.
