A very simple way to add ticks etc would be to change the column to wingdings 2 font then use the formula =IF(A1=>5, "P","O") finally change the heading font back to its original one.
Thanks! I’ve always wondered how to do it. Microsoft took something simple and made it hard. I use checklists all the time, but could not do them in Excel.
I use Wingdings 2’s capital P for my monthly checklists in Excel. To create a new checklist/month, copy the worksheet and rename the tab, then select the entire column of checks and hit delete = new month ready to go! I also use capital X when a check list item is not applicable that month = looks like a O with a slash through it.
Great information!! Wish you could have talked a little slower and slower on where to click at. I am pleased to have found this video. Thank you, for sharing your knowledge.
@Harry Moorehouse Go to the Settings icon (wheel like icon on the lower left of the video), a pop up menu will show. Click on Playback and click on .75 or .5, whichever suits you.
Very helpful! Thank you! How can I tie the Developer Control Checkbox to the row? In your example, let’s say I want to sort the data by the Sales column. But in sorting, I want the Checkboxes to remain with the sorted Sales. So far, I’ve discovered the Checkboxes are figures rather than cell entries, so I haven’t been able to sort and have the Checkboxes remain connected with the rows in which they are placed. I hope you can share a solution. I want the Control Checkbox so any user of the spreadsheet just has to click in the box, rather than know how to input Wingdings etc.
I have added the checkboxes as shown, but the formula does not work, what can be an issue please?I used not ActiveX but form checkboxes, the formula exactly as shown with $ signs etc. i also tried with ActiveX just now, also not adding, but when I deleted the boxes and instead changed the formula to "=X", instead of "=TRUE" it of course worked. I think something i am doing in the checkbox is not correct but what?
If it’s “greater than 6”, but then you say “seven or higher” right after, what if the number is 6 and a half? I’m pretty sure 6.5 is greater than 6. 4:11

It types in Wingdings so can't confirm it's typed correctly. Should it be type formula then format column to wingdings?
So helpful - thank you!

There's a way you can sort the columns on the left along the checkboxes?
Maybe sort by P or O so reverse alphabetical. I tried it and yes it worked.
