    Amazing that is was still manually operated with hand crack for so long. It runs quite smooth as well.

    Those elevators worked just like a Swiss watch for nearly a century. And they got modernized to automatic operation? I am presuming the traction machine was AC or there was a DC rectifier I did not hear an MG set running at the top of the shaft. All three got automated?

      That is because there is no generator on those.

      Things were made so much better back then. Todays elevators are crap

      I'm not surprised. If properly maintained, these old elevators will last virtually forever.

    It’s a shams these gates can’t be motorised to keep as much as possible original
